Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 435 - 19: First, Ask if I’m Still Here!
Even though the Water God was severely wounded, it still possessed a terrifying power capable of easily destroying a city. Faced with this might, even Su Zhou could only rely on the extreme mobility of his Gale Armor to evade its attacks. Now and then, he would use the Blade of Annihilation, turning back to shatter the water-based Magic Techniques about to strike him. Occasionally, he would also retaliate by hurling his Dragon Horn Long Spear as a supersonic projectile.
But an attack sufficient to grievously wound or even kill an ordinary Extraordinary High-tier Divine Beast could, at best, only destroy a negligible bit of the shell and flesh of a Monster like the Island Giant Whale. It was hardly a threat at all. Su Zhou could indeed harm the Water God—it wasn’t as if he couldn’t even break its defenses—but the damage he inflicted was so minimal it was barely different from not breaking through at all.
’It’s no use. I haven’t cultivated my True Body. In my human form, it’s impossible for me to inflict any real damage on it... And how could a True Body possibly be cultivated in just ten-odd days!’
Against a Deity from a previous Era, Su Zhou’s foundation was still far too shallow. Before such a being, all he could do for the moment was dodge. But Su Zhou didn’t give up. He gritted his teeth, evading and counter-attacking whenever he found a sliver of an opening, constantly searching for a real opportunity.
Besides, even at this point, he still had the ability to propel himself like a rocket and escape the Water God’s attack range. The situation was still within his control.
—WHROOO—!
Every one of the Water God’s attacks, where it controlled the water currents, served to build power for the next. A portion of the Spirit Water already swirled around its body. Furthermore, although this world had no ocean, Naisel City was situated by three lakes. In a place like this, Its power was nearly inexhaustible. The chase could continue until Su Zhou died of exhaustion. The Giant Beast could be seen opening its abyssal maw. The Giant Whale’s mouth was filled with sharp teeth, and the three cyan Crystal Stones on its head, arranged like a crown, began to flash rapidly as countless streams of water converged into Its mouth.
’What is that?!’
The next instant, the Giant Beast unleashed a terrifying high-pressure water cannon a full hundred meters thick as a Breath attack. The air was torn asunder, kicking up a hurricane. Horrified, Su Zhou had to use the Soul Acceleration granted by the Pentagram and add a burst from his Thunder Technique just to barely dodge this Breath attack, which was powerful enough to wipe a location off the map. In the distance, a small hill caught in the blast was erased from existence. On the ground, amidst the sonic boom from the gale of the aftershock, a crater roughly a hundred meters in diameter appeared, the surrounding land utterly pulverized into sludge.
This was the power of the Commander Tier. Compared to the Extraordinary Tier, the gap in power was like the difference between a Cloud Burst Bomb and a nuclear bomb.
’This isn’t working. I’m just a sitting duck... I have to find an opportunity!’
As the Water God’s power continued to accumulate, it unleashed this level of Magic with increasing frequency. It became difficult for Su Zhou to even dodge. A few times, he was forced to operate his Gale Armor at full capacity and channel the defensive power of the Sacred Geometry’s Holy Triangle just to barely withstand a single blow. He couldn’t even think of counter-attacking. This sight only spurred the Water God to unleash its power even faster, vowing to completely obliterate the little insect that was Su Zhou.
—WHROOOOOOO!!!!
With a high-pitched, drawn-out cry from the Giant Whale, the mountain-sized Giant Beast watched Su Zhou scramble pathetically left and right under its assault. Then, it suddenly leaped into the air. Its entire body became enveloped in a surging, churning tide as It turned its very mass into a weapon, crashing down from the sky toward Su Zhou, who now had absolutely no room to dodge!
’You can block my Magic Techniques, but can you block this?’
Like Mount Tai crashing down. This wasn’t hyperbole, but an incredibly vivid description. Su Zhou, covered in frost, had just barely blocked a previous frost bombardment from the Water God by relying on a Defense Power far exceeding that of an ordinary Extraordinary Tier. He looked up, stunned. There, a dark behemoth that blotted out the sun and sky was crashing down on him. A series of sonic booms erupted, accompanied by a Spiritual Pressure so intense it visibly warped the physical world.
This was a true crisis. Yet, at the very moment between life and death, Su Zhou remained perfectly calm. This was his true nature. A madman never feels fear for his own life, but instead musters every ounce of his energy to savor the experience.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! The Heart of the Thunder Marsh beat wildly three times. With each throb of his heart, thunder roared. The immense Spiritual Power coursing through Su Zhou’s body began to circulate at high speed, then was converted by the Five Spirits Colored Scales into an extremely condensed Wind Spirit Power. In that instant, the two hundred forty Gale Seeds swirling around Su Zhou began to multiply rapidly... Two hundred eighty... three hundred twenty... and finally, they reached the Great Cycle Number. Three hundred sixty Gale Seeds condensed to form the Great Cycle of Heaven and Earth Wind Armor!
The moment the complete Gale Armor formed, it kicked up a gale powerful enough to demolish buildings. But it lasted only for a second. An instant later, all that power swirled into a vortex and condensed back onto the surface of Su Zhou’s body!
Su Zhou could have achieved the Great Cycle of Heaven and Earth Wind Armor long ago. However, he had been focusing all his efforts on cultivating his True Body recently and hadn’t invested much energy into the armor. He simply had too many inheritances, and the Circulation Mist Armor—an ordinary Extraordinary Tier Cultivation Technique from the Divine Wood World—couldn’t possibly compare to an Immortal God Inheritance like the Mingxun Dragon Transformation Technique.
However, compared to those powerful Divine Techniques he had yet to master, the long-familiar Circulation Mist Armor was a Cultivation Technique he could utilize to one hundred percent of its potential—or perhaps even one hundred and twenty percent!
BOOM! Su Zhou could be seen converting all the Spiritual Power in his body to the Wind Attribute. The Great Cycle Number of his Gale Armor transformed into the shape of a regular tetrahedron. With the Heart of the Thunder Marsh and the Five Spirits Colored Scales as its core, the surging Spiritual Power was compressed and transmitted to every part of his body. Finally, it condensed into a nearly tangible Gale Shield, with layer upon layer of triangular patterns of light forming a film over the surface of the Gale Armor.
