Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 497 - 8: You Can Never Truly Know What Your Ancestors Have Done

’What if they come back with a grand army for revenge?’

’While Earth Civilization looks strong now, even possessing Immortal God Inheritances, if it were to face a civilization capable of interstellar travel, it would likely have to scatter its people, hide all of humanity away in some Space-Time Realm, shut the door, and go into self-imposed isolation, just like the Beast God Realm.’

’To put it simply, Earth could be surrounded by hundreds of Interstellar Civilizations at any moment and be utterly crushed. They have all the justification they need to attack right there on the Moon—the evidence is irrefutable, and there’s no arguing it.’

"Aren’t we just screwing over future generations?!"

At this thought, Su Zhou gasped sharply and slammed his hand on the table, leaving a Palm Seal on the stainless steel surface. "Over two hundred ships... How many civilizations’ ships did the Immortal Gods shoot down back in the day?"

"That’s just what’s on the Moon." The Daoist Saint crossed his hands and rested them on his lap, looking perfectly composed. "On Mars, on the Jupiter Satellites... Sigh. Heaven knows how many there are, or which civilizations they belong to. In any case, it doesn’t matter to us. Just knowing they exist is enough."

With that said, the old man smiled kindly. "So, Su Zhou, do you understand now?"

"The threats we face are many and varied. Humanity’s internal conflicts are the most insignificant among them. And there are likely countless other Realms, like the Beast God Realm and the Demon Realm, that are filled with hostile life. The threats from the starry sky are the ones we must be most wary of, and they are problems we are destined to face."

"We were fortunate to be born here, to inherit the legacy of our ancestors, and so we must also bear the Cause and Effect they left behind. But we are not them. Nine Nether, the disciple of the Celestial Pool Dragon King, once asked us if we intended to rebuild the Central Divine Court—and our answer was no."

"We are not the Immortal Gods, and the times have changed. The era where Extraordinary Power alone decided everything is over. We must find the right path forward for our civilization, a path that will allow it to endure for ages to come, perhaps even into an eternal future. That is why we must not only explore the various Great Realms, but also this starry sky."

As he spoke, the Daoist Saint reached out and tapped the terminal screen, which was displaying a Star Map of the region around Earth.

"And to accomplish all this, we need power—power that even surpasses that of the Immortal Gods. Therefore, we can only forge ahead with haste."

The conversation was over. Su Zhou’s questions had been answered, and he handed the personal terminal back to the Daoist Saint.

The old man stood up. With a smile, he gently patted Su Zhou’s shoulder, his eyes filled with expectation. "If humanity is to surpass the Immortal Gods of old and protect our home and civilization from countless threats, then we must overcome every obstacle. All the problems they—the Immortal Gods—failed to solve, we modern humans must now resolve, one by one."

"We must overcome the inequality of human Talent, overcome the obstacle that death poses to inheritance, overcome the challenges of passing down wisdom, and even overcome the Reincarnation of a civilization’s rise and fall. Whether it’s the New Humans, the Netherworld network, or the bloodline inheritance experiments conducted by the Life Saint—it is all for this single step."

As he said these words, the eyes of the Daoist Saint, Zhang Qingyun, burned with a fighting spirit like a blazing Flame.

’The origin of Zhengguo lay with a group of idealists who yearned for the ’Righteous Dao’.’

In the last years of the Anx Dynasty, when King Lio ruled without virtue, the Hundred Schools’ Righteous Army rose up and overthrew the tyrannical Emperor who had brutalized his people. Afterward, that group of idealists joined forces to build what was, in their hearts, the most wonderful and powerful nation imaginable.

During this time, there were of course setbacks and regressions, but history spirals forward. Through painful reforms and repeated adjustments, Zhengguo has finally arrived in the present day.

And through it all, the successors of those idealists have never forgotten their original ideal.

"And you, Su Zhou, you are the most critical piece of our plan. You are the one among us most likely to cultivate to the level of a Current World Immortal God, an Immortal Heavenly Immortal, or even reach the Creator Celestial Venerable Realm. If another alien civilization arrives, you may just have to serve as Earth’s strongest powerhouse and be the one to negotiate with them."

Having said this, the Daoist Saint turned to leave with a rather dashing flair.

But just before he left, he added one last thing. "By the way, didn’t you say you were still missing something to truly and completely enter the Commander Tier?"

"If you need any resources, just file a report with the Celestial Capital Security Bureau. The government will cover the cost."

"Huh?"

Hearing this, Su Zhou’s eyes immediately went wide. "For real?!"
