Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 625 - 1: World Tree Spear 2
It was now obvious that Su Zhou was conducting experiments in preparation for his future exploration of the Moon.
Normally, experiments like these required wearing a heavy-duty spacesuit. However, Su Zhou was their only Commander Level combatant. Given his unique lifeform, a standard spacesuit would be completely useless and would only hinder his movements. Therefore, unlike the others, Su Zhou was undergoing a special, separate test.
Although one of the objectives was to gather data on his current physical condition, Su Zhou didn’t mind. In fact, he had already demonstrated extremely formidable extraterrestrial combat capabilities during the previous high-temperature environmental test.
Even in a simulated lunar environment—a vacuum with high radiation, extreme heat, and low gravity—Su Zhou could still control his movements perfectly. He showed no signs of losing control, even when moving at hypersonic speeds and running back and forth within the test area.
Without the hindrance of an atmosphere, he could even perform peculiar inertialess turns and high-speed maneuvers.
But now, in the ultra-low temperature environment of below negative 150 degrees Celsius, even Su Zhou felt quite restricted.
’The only weakness of the Undying Blood is that its regeneration ability is greatly diminished in extremely cold environments. Although the effect of low temperatures lessens as I grow stronger, I can’t completely ignore it, even at the Commander Tier.’
The stiffness in his arm vanished in an instant, but Su Zhou was still worried. ’This is my weakness. I haven’t yet encountered an opponent who excels at using frost or fighting in low temperatures. A true powerhouse—or rather, a perfect lifeform—should have no weaknesses!’
I have to overcome this!
Although many thoughts raced through Su Zhou’s mind, only a few seconds had passed for Yu Saint and the others observing his test data. Seeing that Su Zhou’s Spiritual Shield could indeed maintain his body temperature and completely insulate his body from the surrounding cold, Yu Saint nodded in satisfaction. "Professor Su," he asked over the comms, "how long can you maintain that shield? It will determine the safe duration for your activities during the lunar night."
"This Spiritual Shield?"
Su Zhou was taken aback by Yu Saint’s question for a moment, then chuckled. "This thing? It’s just my naturally overflowing Spiritual Qi Flow. I usually keep it sealed against my skin when I’m in the city so it doesn’t spread out."
"A shield like this? I can maintain it for a lifetime."
"...I see..."
The voice on the comms fell silent for a few seconds before speaking again. "In that case, are you able to fight under these conditions?"
"No problem."
Without another word, Su Zhou raised the silver-cyan long spear gripped tightly in his right hand.
The World Tree Spear.
A month ago, the Nine Realms Tree Branch gifted by the European Union had been delivered to the Zhengguo Government. At Su Zhou’s request, Zhengguo’s finest Extraordinary artisan had forged it into a long spear with an exceedingly simple and fluid design, following his exact specifications.
The Attributes of a Nine Realms Tree Branch vary depending on the worlds it passes through. The branch gifted to Su Zhou happened to have passed through the Netherworld. Therefore, in addition to its Wood Attribute, it possessed an incredibly dense power of Yin Spirits and Ghosts.
This power was immense, but it didn’t quite suit Su Zhou—or at least, not the public image he projected. While his current image wasn’t exactly that of a hero, he shouldn’t be the type to wield a ghastly long spear and appear surrounded by a swirl of countless Ghosts.
’Even for a Demon King, my design aesthetic should lean more toward Demon Dragons, lava, and thunder.’
To address this, the Zhengguo artisan employed a peculiar ’Fostering Technique.’ He buried the Divine Wood Branch in the Peach Tree Forest on Kunlun Mountain, using the power of another Divine Wood to provoke an antagonistic reaction within the World Tree Branch’s native Wood Attribute. This process purified the Yin Spirit Attribute from the Netherworld, transforming it into a purer form of Soul Power. Finally, he had Su Zhou provide a drop of his own blood as an Enchantment Material and forged it all into an extremely powerful ’Yin Thunder Spear’.
Yin Thunder is silent thunder. Simply put, this was a Divine Wood Spear capable of striking the Soul directly, greatly empowered against Spirit Bodies, and imbued with the power of thunder.
However, just because it was enhanced against Spirit Bodies didn’t mean this long spear’s destructive power in the physical world was any less than that of ordinary Magical Artifacts and Magical Treasures.
Gripping the long spear, the muscles on Su Zhou’s right arm knotted. Violent, cyan-purple Spiritual Power flooded into the World Tree Spear like a tide rushing into the Ruins, causing a distinct spiritual pattern to light up on his arm. After charging for two seconds, the surface of the silver-cyan World Tree Spear erupted in a brilliant flash of light!
HUMMM!
There was no air, so there was no sound in the vacuum—only the vibration of Spiritual Qi, a faint hum that sent ripples across the soul.
In less than a second, the light radiating from the javelin abruptly contracted, becoming invisible. Immediately after, the spear’s entire body vanished as if it had phased into the Spirit Realm, disappearing completely from the material world.
Even the Zhengguo researchers monitoring from afar discovered to their astonishment that the World Tree Spear had actually, completely vanished.
The next time it appeared, it was at a small Ring Mountain two kilometers away.
There was no sound. A dim Thunder Light spread out, disintegrating the silver-gray soil and rock. A ripple of spiritual thunder, like a wave in water, spread outward. A few seconds later, a massive crater over thirty meters in radius had appeared on the surface, replacing the original Ring Mountain. The World Tree Spear, having reverted to its silver-cyan color, stood upright in the very center of the new crater.
"Time elapsed: 0.09 seconds! It covered a distance of 2,400 meters in that short a time!"
A researcher observing the data exclaimed in amazement, "The World Tree Spear’s speed exceeded Mach 66?! That’s terrifying!"
"No."
Nearby, the prosthetic in Yu Saint’s left eye flashed with red light. He gazed at Su Zhou and the distant World Tree Spear, a smile touching his lips. "After the World Tree Spear was thrown, it entered the Spirit Realm, becoming a pure Spirit Body. The speed of a Spirit Body is beyond what we material beings can react to. If you calculate its impact force alone, it’s at the level of Mach 6 to Mach 8 in Earth’s environment."
"As expected of a javelin forged from a Divine Wood that contains the power of Yin Spirits. Combined with Professor Su’s own power, it is truly hard to resist."
A silent, one-hit kill—that was Yin Thunder.
However, Su Zhou himself was still somewhat dissatisfied with the destructive power of this strike.
’I feel like, in terms of destructive power, it’s only about the same as a standard high-performance missile.’
Raising his hand, Su Zhou used his Spiritual Power to recall the nearly two-meter-long silver-cyan javelin. He shook his head slightly. "In fact, when it comes to the collateral damage from the shockwave, it’s not even as good as a missile."
"You should be content, Professor Su," Yu Saint sighed over the comms. "Do you have any idea how much one of those high-performance missiles costs? It’s close to a hundred million, and that’s without the warhead. Yet you can unleash an attack comparable to that after charging for only two seconds."
Responding to Su Zhou’s obviously greedy sentiment, Yu Saint continued, "Regardless, the fact that you can display such combat strength in a lunar environment is already beyond our expectations. Apart from you, all the other Explorers showed varying degrees of power degradation in their simulation tests. And that’s not even mentioning you still have your ’True Body,’ which is even better suited for the lunar environment, as your Bottom Card."
"In the plan, however, they were always just supplementary. The vast majority are professional researchers; you are the only true combat and protective force. Since you can guarantee your full combat strength, Professor Su, it seems we won’t need to worry too much about any potential dangers on the Moon."
"Mm, I understand."
Su Zhou nodded slightly at this.
He knew, of course, exactly what danger Yu Saint was referring to.
It was, of course, the potentially living Aliens inside the spaceship.
Or rather... Alien Monsters.
