Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 685 - 28: Deep Space, Unstoppable

Racing across the Moon Surface, Su Zhou’s speed was nothing short of incredible. He was nearly nine hundred kilometers in a straight line from the alien shipwreck on the Moon’s Far Side, but in the absence of an atmosphere, his maximum cruising speed could reach 3,700 meters per second—which meant he could reach the site in under five minutes.

In reality, however, the shipwreck wasn’t a single site. After traveling for about a minute, Su Zhou could already see strange, scattered metal protrusions on the Moon Surface, as well as peculiar man-made structures mostly embedded in the lunar crust—they were the wreckage of alien spaceships.

Of the alien ships that had come to the Solar System in the past, a fair number didn’t seem to have been shot down by the Immortal Gods. Instead, they appeared to have suffered some kind of accident, crashing elsewhere before being gathered and dumped here by the Immortal Gods. But Su Zhou also spotted a few ships that looked like computer mice, which had clearly been brought down by some powerful Daoist Technique. Flickering, sharp Gold Element Spiritual Energy still pulsed across their massive hulls.

’What a shame. If I’d brought a streaming camera, I could probably gain a million followers just by doing a little running commentary.’

Despite the thought, Su Zhou’s focus remained fixed ahead on the massive Spiritual Power Beacon. He was very close now; in less than a minute, he could reach the ship that was emitting it.

But in the next instant, more than thirty streams of silver light shot toward Su Zhou from different directions, carrying a familiar impact and intense heat.

A burst of Spiritual Power from Su Zhou instantly deflected, and even absorbed, all the silver streams, but his advance was halted nonetheless.

"Hmm... I can sense a more distinct gathering of the Curse."

As he said this, Su Zhou looked down, his hand resting on the hilt of his Blade of Annihilation. He stared coldly at the ground. "Just as I thought. Your main body here is far more valuable... If I destroy most of your flesh here, even if your other bodies survive, you’ll become little more than an imbecile, won’t you?"

"Then come and try," the Deep Space Caller’s voice echoed from all directions, its telepathic communication always laced with provocation. "If you think you can."

Anyone could boast; it was action that mattered. Su Zhou had always been a man of action. This was evident even back in elementary school, when he’d get money from Qiming to buy chicken and duck blood at the market, all to draw a Blood Sacrifice Array in an attempt to summon a Demon. Though he had regrettably failed, that excellent hands-on attitude remained a part of him.

Plummeting like a Meteor, Su Zhou aimed for the area where the Curse was thickest—the region with the highest concentration of the Deep Space Caller’s Soul—and drew his blade to strike. Once a Soul is obliterated, a living body is meaningless. Not everyone possessed True Spirit Undying as he did, nor could their Soul recover so quickly.

A massive, fiery arc of light, shaped like a crescent moon, slashed down. Faced with Su Zhou’s menacing attack, the Deep Space Caller’s huge, amorphous main body, hidden underground, shot out a tentacle, grabbing a smaller piece of alien shipwreck to use as a shield.

Su Zhou, of course, held nothing back. The razor-sharp arc of light struck the shipwreck, which had been decaying for tens of thousands of years—but even so, he felt an incredible resistance before the blade finally sliced the wreckage in two, giving the Deep Space Caller’s tentacle an opening to retreat.

This astonished Su Zhou. A single strike from his blade—heated to over six thousand degrees and carrying the force of a thousand tons concentrated on its thin edge—hadn’t been able to cut through it easily, giving the enemy a chance to escape.

It was proof of the spaceship’s unbelievably sturdy materials. If Earth Civilization could reverse-engineer the formula, it would be a massive leap toward the cosmic age.

However, the Deep Space Caller was even more shocked than Su Zhou. "You have no reservations at all?!"

’Reservations about what?’ For a moment, Su Zhou didn’t understand. But he quickly realized the creature was referring to his complete disregard for the integrity of the alien shipwreck, which he had just sliced in two.

"How are you any different from me?"

The inhuman Monster never expected Su Zhou to be so decisive. It had assumed Su Zhou’s purpose in coming to the Moon’s Far Side was to explore the shipwreck and that he would be more cautious with the alien remains, trying to avoid large-scale destruction. Who could have known Su Zhou would swing his blade without the slightest hesitation, nipping its plan for a counterattack right in the bud.

But soon, the Deep Space Caller began to laugh. "Indeed, you and I are very similar. You’re the type who doesn’t care about anything in this world besides yourself... I’m well aware, you know. To satisfy your bloodlust, you went all over Southeast Asia, hunting people down to torture and kill."

"When I first heard the news, I was astonished. How could such a ferocious Monster hide among a flock of sheep? Su Zhou, how did you ever restrain yourself from tearing all those fragile mortals around you to shreds?"

"You really need to get your head checked. How are we remotely similar?"

Hearing such inexplicable nonsense, Su Zhou was baffled. "You’re a roach in the gutter, a freak hiding in the dark—while I am the Captain of the Zhengguo Security Bureau’s Special Operations Unit, a specially-approved law enforcement officer of the Thirty-Six Saints Central Committee, and the Minister of the New World Exploration Department."
