Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 695: Engraved in Memory
[…We will now present the ruins of an ancient Alien spaceship.]
After this subtitle appeared, the comments section briefly fell silent.
Then came the furious Burst!
“Sudden Aliens!”
“HOLY SHIT (a bilingual expression), are there really Aliens?!”
“So you were fighting Aliens just now?”
“What in the world happened on the Moon!”
The subtitles didn’t offer any more explanations. Instead, the camera view shifted to the lunar exploration drone. As its micro-thrusters activated, it began to float in the vacuum, then turned on its camera light, filming the surroundings from a high vantage point.
On the dim Moon Surface, amid the numerous Ring Mountains and Moon Rocks, immense, pitch-black shadows emerged… These were the bizarre wrecks of dilapidated old spaceships, some of which were the very source of the Ring Mountains themselves!
After hundreds of thousands of years, many of the ships that should have been neatly arranged on the Moon Surface had now slowly sunk into the ground. Some ships, likely made of organic materials, had undergone a bizarre mummification, even revealing their skeletons and withered, shrunken biological modules.
There weren’t just a few of these wrecks, but dozens, even hundreds. A single sweep of the airborne camera revealed over fifty of them. Each ship was hundreds of meters in size. Even though most were half-buried, with only the tip of the iceberg visible, that tiny glimpse was enough to be utterly breathtaking.
At the far edge of the camera’s view, several mountain-sized shadows could be seen—they were the colossal wrecks of massive ships, each stretching over several kilometers long! It was hard to tell how large these ships were when they were intact, but in any case, they were behemoths that Earth Civilization was currently incapable of building.
Being exposed to so much information that defied common sense in such a short time could leave one numb. But beyond the shock, some sharp-eyed viewers noticed that some of the ships bore fresh wounds. Among them were slashes so distinct that it was immediately obvious whose blade had left them!
[Time is cruel. Under long-term natural erosion, even the Alien ships that were mostly intact after being shot down by the Immortal Gods have now become dilapidated wrecks. This time, the goal of our moon landing is to explore the technology and secrets hidden within these ships.]
“You hear that? The officials are saying it’s a natural phenomenon! (Points at the molten craters, blade marks, and footprints.)”
“They’re hinting that if the ships have any damage, it’s all due to natural causes and has nothing to do with the moon-landing team, especially a certain professor with the surname Su.”
“You’ve got some… hey, you’re pretty good at this ‘hinting’ thing.”
“The more they try to hide it, the more obvious it becomes! This is basically a blatant admission that a fight happened earlier, right?!”
“What the hell is going on on the Moon? First the sudden solar storm, then the moon rocket losing contact for five days, and now that the stream is back, there are battle scars all over the Moon, plus these Alien ships—don’t tell me there was an actual Alien invasion! Where’s the official explanation?!”
Naturally, no one answered the questions. Gu Yaoluo, the one in charge of filming, wasn’t exactly a natural entertainer skilled at livestreaming antics. Besides, this was an official broadcast, so a serious tone had to be maintained.
However, some of Su Zhou’s hardcore fans were comforting the other viewers: “Don’t worry, don’t worry! It’s fine if the officials don’t say anything now. When Chief Judge Su gets back to Earth, he’ll definitely be unable to resist bragging and leaking all the details!”
“True. Su Zhou’s daily routine is working on Weibo and leaking secrets on Twitter. We just have to wait.”
The part of the livestream showing the Alien ships passed quickly. As the lunar exploration drone’s stored Spiritual Qi ran out, it returned to the Moon Surface Vehicle, and the camera’s view shifted back to the Moon’s surface.
But at that moment, an even more shocking sight appeared before the viewers’ eyes.
It was a mass of silvery, gelatinous creatures, lying motionless on the Moon Surface.
In the center of the spaceship graveyard, these strange, silvery gelatinous creatures were practically everywhere. They squirmed slowly across the Moon Surface, wriggling into rock crevices and through the Moon Soil. Larger blobs would split into many smaller ones, while smaller ones would merge to form larger masses. Under their corrosive influence, the once uneven Moon Surface had become exceptionally smooth. When the Moon Surface Vehicle’s searchlight hit it, the ground reflected the light like a mirror.
“Wh-what are these? Moon Slimes?!”
“Or are these the Aliens?”
There wasn’t much discussion about the Shapeless yet, and the subtitles didn’t explain what these creatures were. After all, this wasn’t something that could be passed off as a natural phenomenon.
Although most of the Shapeless moved very slowly due to the loss of their masters, they still followed the genetic information set in their basic structure, self-replicating and reproducing by decomposing minerals in the Moon Soil through photosynthesis.
However, this didn’t mean they were hostile to the moon-landing team. As Su Zhou released his aura, a powerful wave of Spiritual Power swept over the area. With no target to protect, the numerous Shapeless, now in a ‘self-preservation state,’ retreated like a tide, clearing a path for the Moon Surface Vehicle.
Following that, the moon-landing team arrived at the source of the numerous Shapeless.
It was a wrecked spaceship that had once been buried deep underground but was now mostly excavated.
