Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 702 A Tumultuously Peaceful Life
“Yes. I did indeed fight on the Moon. As for who I was fighting, I’ve forgotten. That’s not an evasion or a state secret—I really forgot. You can ask my other teammates later; I’m sure they remember clearly.”
“I must declare that the series of damages I caused on the Moon were all necessary and unavoidable. It was force majeure. Anyone else in my position would have done the same, or even worse. Besides, what value could an alien spaceship that I can chop apart possibly have? Just think about it for a second!”
“Yes, as of now, we have not found any living aliens. At least, during the few days I was working on the Moon, I did not find any living aliens among the one hundred and seventy-three alien shipwrecks I inspected. Yes, no living aliens.”
“The whereabouts of the alien bodies? I’m sorry, but I really don’t know. That was a task for the second moon-landing team. They have professionals. Perhaps the relevant data will be made public in a few weeks?”
The camera lenses swiveled, and a multitude of flashes lit up the room. Eager and enthusiastic questions from the reporters filled the Zhengguo Celestial Capital press conference with a fiery atmosphere.
Facing a barrage of questions from the media—some ordinary, others tricky—Su Zhou answered everything with considerable patience. Compared to his first press conference two years ago, he now possessed a calmer and more stable demeanor.
But when it came to certain questions from foreign media that had ulterior motives, he was blunt. “We have currently discovered more than ten large clusters of spaceship wreckage on the Moon’s far side, and the methods used to shoot them down vary. Let’s not even talk about what our ancestors did hundreds of thousands of years ago. It’s obvious that all of humanity had a hand in the matter of these shipwrecks. Don’t try to stir up trouble with ulterior motives, or I’ll start to suspect you’re an alien spy.”
This harsh reply was aimed at a reporter from the European Union. She had questioned whether all the spaceship debris on the Moon had been shot down by Zhengguo’s ancient Immortal Gods, and if so, who would be responsible if aliens came seeking revenge.
Obviously, anyone who asked such a question had never considered a simple fact—to an alien, is there any difference between the people of Earth? Moreover, from what Su Zhou had seen, the Moon’s far side was basically a giant garbage dump. It didn’t matter which region’s Immortal Gods they were; they all seemed to have tossed the downed ships there, where they were piled up in a huge, chaotic mess. Even a God would have trouble telling who shot down what.
“Thank you for your enthusiastic questions, but this press conference is now over.”
The press conference on the lunar mission concluded in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere. Su Zhou stood up, preparing to head backstage with several staff members from the Aviation Administration Bureau. His three teammates were still in quarantine after returning from space, so he was the only one on stage.
After all, in this world of Spiritual Energy Revival, no one could guarantee that there weren’t some strange and exotic Spiritual Energy Viruses in the sky. Su Zhou, being a High Tier Extraordinary, could screen himself, but his teammates couldn’t. They needed to be meticulously checked with specialized equipment.
However, right at the end, just as Su Zhou was getting up, a reporter from the Zhengguo Prosperity Daily seized the last possible moment to ask one final question.
“If I may be so bold, Mr. Su Zhou, what are your views on aliens?”
“My views on aliens?”
Su Zhou didn’t mind answering. He thought for a moment, then said casually, “If they come in friendship, then guests from afar are welcome. The people of Earth will naturally treat them to a meal.”
“But if they come with malicious intent, then they are enemies. And enemies…”
As he spoke, Su Zhou flattened his right hand into a blade shape. With a smile, he made a downward ‘chopping’ motion before turning and walking backstage, bringing the press conference to a close.
He had no idea that this gesture of his would be instantly captured by countless netizens watching the live broadcast, who then proceeded to Photoshop it into all sorts of bizarre memes and post a flood of ridiculous comments.
[Su Zhou: I’ll turn them into a meal. (chop)]
[As expected of the Demon Dragon who swallowed the Ghost Car whole!]
[Zhou Bao, please stop eating things that haven’t been inspected! (exasperated)]
Mixed in with these comments were, of course, various photoshopped images. One showed the Ghost Car from the Beast God Realm video with a look of utter despair, facing Su Zhou as he slowly brought his hand down in a chop. Another was a composite picture of Su Zhou splitting an alien spaceship in two with a single hand-chop.
Leaving that aside, although Su Zhou hadn’t expressed a clear stance on aliens, his words had at least calmed some people’s nerves. It also reminded everyone that their own Earth Civilization was not without means to resist aliens. If nothing else, Su Zhou was already capable of fighting in outer space at the Commander Tier. As for a true Immortal God Level existence like the Celestial Pool Dragon King, destroying a Warship in the Cosmos would likely not be difficult.
If the aliens were to arrive right now, they’d indeed have to back down. But if they came a few decades later, it wasn’t certain who would be intimidating whom!
At this moment, Su Zhou was naturally unaware of what was happening online. In fact, it had been a long time since he had browsed forums, trolled people, and acted as an online contrarian. He let out a rare sigh.
‘Sigh, it’s been a while since I’ve vented my contrarian urges, leveled up my provocation skills, and released my negative emotions.’
While changing clothes backstage, Su Zhou picked up his phone and sent a group message to his family and friends—’Work is over, but I have something else to attend to. I’ll be back later.’—while muttering to himself, ‘With great power comes great responsibility. The hard work I’ve been doing recently is a far cry from what I originally envisioned: enjoying a happy life of Cultivation while maintaining a normal daily routine.’
