Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 704 A Bustling and Noisy Peaceful Life

In reality, however, Su Zhou could see that the guy was, at his core, just a weirdo obsessed with being cool. He didn’t like an overly chaotic world either and wanted to live a peaceful life, which was why he hadn’t resorted to killing.

In response to Su Zhou’s sincere thoughts, Yara let out a long sigh. “So, that’s your reason for deciding to be the world’s policeman?”

“What’s wrong with that? Is being the world’s policeman a bad thing?”

Su Zhou’s expression immediately shifted, and he chuckled. “This time, I’ve finally dealt with all the major, cancerous Mysterious Organizations on Earth. This means the Security Bureau will have a lot less work to do in the future, and I can focus my efforts on the New World Exploration Department.”

“With Earth stable, I can focus all my attention on exploring the Otherworlds on the Celestial God Scale.”

“Mm.” Hearing this, Yara couldn’t help but nod slightly in approval. “You actually remembered our mission. I guess you’re not completely heartless.”

“But don’t get too stressed. You’ve already done exceptionally well. Many geniuses who’ve practiced Divine Level cultivation and consumed Treasures of Heaven and Earth since childhood might not even be at your level right now.”

“As expected of your judgment! You’re always spot-on!”

As he was joking around with Yara, Su Zhou noticed that the Wisdom Tree in his Personal Space looked completely listless. Something felt off. Thinking it was strange, he immediately opened his Soul Space to check on the Wisdom Tree Essence Soul.

The sight that greeted him stunned even Su Zhou for a moment, taking him by surprise.

Under the verdant glow of the Divine Wood, the translucent Wisdom Tree Essence Soul, wreathed in a holy light, had a shocking addition: hanging upside-down from every single one of its branches were floating human souls. They were green from head to toe, and their eyes were rolled back into their heads!

Their bodies had turned green from the Wood Qi that suffused them, and their eyes had rolled back from being hung upside down. The souls looked just like air-dried hams, each one bound to the Wisdom Tree’s branches by threads of soul. Although there was no wind in the Soul Space, every soul trembled slightly. The soft sound of them swaying from the tree was almost like a hymn carried on the breeze…

‘Holy shit, what is all this?!’

‘I’m pretty sure this is what I asked the Wisdom Tree Essence Soul to do… take care of those… wait, who ate them? Whatever, I asked it to look after the souls of some innocent victims. But I never, ever thought the Wisdom Tree would handle it in such a creepy way! I used to worry that having the Wisdom Tree Essence Soul in my Soul Space would just turn the place into a sea of green. But now it looks like before that could happen, my Soul Space has become a haunted house exhibit first! And at least a Three Stars difficulty level, at that!’

‘Too bad it doesn’t look like any lady in red will be showing up. As a substitute, though, I’ve got green figures to spare.’

The Spiritual Light around the Wisdom Tree used to occasionally transform into Angels holding Fire Swords or strumming harps. But now, those Angels of light were acting like busy orderlies, tightening the threads on some of the souls or soothing others that were shaking violently, trying to calm them down.

‘Carrying thousands of souls is hard work. No wonder the Wisdom Tree’s physical form is so wilted. The poor thing’s been worked to the bone.’

“Whimper!”

Seeing Su Zhou for the first time in days, the Wisdom Tree Essence Soul immediately let out that pitiful, one-word comment. If a tree could cry, it probably would have burst into tears and thrown itself into Su Zhou’s arms for comfort.

After all, say what you will, the Wisdom Tree was just a child, barely over two years old! (A resounding declaration.)

“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Be a good baby. In a little bit, I’ll mix you up your favorite combo meal: No. 0 Holy Water with a splash of Yaochi Water!”

At once, Su Zhou the mother hen started cooing at the tree. “You’ve worked so hard, my little sapling. What else do you want? I’ll give you anything you ask for!”

“CLANG!”

In his Personal Space, the Blade of Annihilation, which had been set aside, also let out a pitiful metallic cry. Next to it, the World Tree Long Spear did nothing and made no sound at all, which, for that very reason, made it seem even more pathetic.

Naturally, Su Zhou agreed to everything. “Alright, alright, you can have whatever… huh? Wait a minute. The Blade of Annihilation? What’s going on with you?”
