Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart
Chapter 247 - 244: Gu Yifan’s Tyranny
Chapter 247: Chapter 244: Gu Yifan’s Tyranny
Soon, the three of them arrived at the jade retail section.
Gotta admit, while the jade here was far more expensive than over in the raw stone section, there really were some good pieces.
"Huh?"
Just then, Wang Zibo exclaimed in surprise, "Brother Fan, look over there! Holy shit, that jade dragon is gorgeous, but it’s also damn expensive!"
Hearing this, Gu Yifan turned and followed his finger to see what he was pointing at.
An emerald-green jade dragon came into view. It was about forty centimeters long and meant to be a decorative piece.
Curious, Gu Yifan led Su Qinghe by the hand and walked over to the jade dragon figurine.
He took a closer look. To be fair, the jade dragon looked to be purely hand-carved. No wonder that bastard Wang Zibo was so shocked.
The craftsmanship was certainly superb, but unfortunately...
The quality of the jadeite wasn’t good enough. The entire dragon lacked a certain spiritual liveliness.
After a careful inspection, Gu Yifan regretfully shook his head.
"Um... Brother Fan, this dragon looks pretty impressive, doesn’t it? It’s just way too expensive, right?"
"Damn, over three million. That’s highway robbery!"
Wang Zibo whispered, leaning in close to Gu Yifan.
Gu Yifan glanced at him and said nonchalantly, "It’s just average. The price is definitely way too high."
"Uh..."
Wang Zibo asked in confusion, "This isn’t good enough? I think it looks great!"
"It’s not that. The carving is excellent, and it really is hand-carved like the description says, but the inherent quality of the jadeite itself isn’t up to par."
Gu Yifan said after a glance at him.
He didn’t plan on explaining further this time, though. ’After all, jadeite is a complicated subject. It’d be a pain to explain, and even if I did, this idiot Wang Zibo wouldn’t get it anyway. So why waste my breath?’
Seeing that he wasn’t going to elaborate, Wang Zibo looked a bit sheepish and didn’t press the matter.
Instead, he changed the subject. "Hey, Brother Fan, do you think dragons exist in this world?"
Gu Yifan was speechless. "..."
He shot a speechless glance at Wang Zibo. ’One second we’re talking about jade, and the next he’s asking me if dragons exist???’
’Since when did this guy’s train of thought leap around so much?’
Gu Yifan grumbled to himself.
He thought for a moment, on the verge of saying that of course there were no dragons in the world; after all, no one had ever seen one.
But then he had another thought.
’I was able to get reborn, so just because I haven’t seen something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There are plenty of things in this world that can’t be explained. We should maintain a sense of reverence for the great unknowns.’
So, he changed his tune and said nonchalantly, "Maybe. Who knows?"
"Brother Fan, let me tell you a secret. Dragons really do exist in this world!"
Wang Zibo suddenly leaned in and whispered conspiratorially in Gu Yifan’s ear, "My dad told me!"
"Huh??"
Gu Yifan paused, stunned. He turned back to look at Wang Zibo, completely baffled.
’Your dad has seen a dragon?’
’Then again, it’s actually plausible that someone from the older generation might have seen a dragon. After all, the environment and climate weren’t as poor back then as they are now.’
’Plus, historical records do mention a ’dragon fall’ incident during the late Qing Dynasty.’
’Considering Wang Zibo’s dad’s age, it wouldn’t be that surprising if he’d actually seen a dragon, especially if he grew up in the countryside.’
Gu Yifan thought to himself.
"It’s true, Brother Fan!"
Wang Zibo whispered again, "My dad said he saw a dragon with his own eyes, and even got serviced by it..."
Gu Yifan: "..."
FUCK!!!!
Gu Yifan was completely floored.
Goddammit!
’Your dad would fucking tell you something like that?!’
Gu Yifan had never been this speechless in his life!
"Fuck off!"
He couldn’t stop himself from aiming a kick at Wang Zibo.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"
Wang Zibo, seemingly prepared, quickly dodged to the side.
"Brother Fan, don’t be mad! I was just kidding, trying to liven things up. Hehehe..."
He flashed a sleazy grin at Gu Yifan.
However!
In reality, he’d said all that just to mess with Gu Yifan.
’As if his dad would ever say something like that to him!’
’If his dad actually went for that kind of ’full-service package,’ his mom would probably break all five of his limbs!’
Seeing Gu Yifan’s utterly speechless expression, Wang Zibo’s mood soared.
"Phew..."
’Finally evened the score!’
Gu Yifan: "..."

After looking around for a while, Gu Yifan wasn’t satisfied with any of the finished jade pieces.
In the end, he decided to pick out a raw stone to cut himself.
...
"This crappy-looking rock costs five hundred thousand?"
Wang Zibo said in shock, staring at the head-sized chunk of raw jadeite in Gu Yifan’s hands.
"This is the one!"
Gu Yifan patted the stone in his hands and declared his decision.
He had already been searching for over an hour and had only just now chosen this piece.
Though it was small and expensive, Gu Yifan had a feeling this one would be a winner.
The reason was simple.
Just now, his system had not only given him a prompt, but it had even provided a tutorial on how to cut this specific stone.
So!
What was there for Gu Yifan to hesitate about?
He just had to buy it!
"Su Hanhan, we’re buying this one!"
"I’ll have the jade we cut from it made into jewelry for you!"
Gu Yifan turned to Su Qinghe beside him and said with a smile.
"Huh?"
Su Qinghe froze for a moment.
It was only then she realized that Gu Yifan was buying these stones to make jewelry for her.
She quickly protested, "You don’t have to! This is too expensive. What if you lose money on it? It’s not worth the risk! Let’s just go buy one of the ready-made ones over there, the kind that only cost a few hundred!"
"As the saying goes, a person nurtures jade, and in turn, the jade nurtures the person."
"The material in those pieces isn’t good. Wearing them for a long time won’t have that nurturing effect; it’s bad for your health."
Gu Yifan said, shaking his head.
"But... this is just too expensive!"
Su Qinghe said.
’Five hundred thousand!’
’She knew Gu Yifan had money, but you can’t just waste it like this!’
’She didn’t want Gu Yifan to waste money on her account.’
’Besides, she already felt guilty enough being with him every day, living off his money. It made her feel like a complete freeloader.’
"Alright, that’s enough."
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. This one won’t be a loss."
Seeing Su Qinghe was about to say more, Gu Yifan cut her off.
At this, Su Qinghe’s mouth opened slightly, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.
’She understood Gu Yifan. He would usually listen to her, but once he had made up his mind about something, no one could change it.’
’He was just that kind of domineering person.’
"Alright now, be good. Trust me. When have I ever done anything I wasn’t sure about?"
With that, he walked over to complete the purchase—swiping his card and signing the slip in one smooth motion.
Seeing this, what else could Su Qinghe say?
She could only stand silently to the side, the look of worry in her eyes refusing to fade...
