Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar
Chapter 603: Epilogue (30)
“Quentin… A fitting name for a man of deep affection,” Ethan Ellsworth remarked.
Nora Ainsworth looked at the picture from the news and only then realized just how beautiful the image of Quentin tying her shoelace was. So beautiful it made her heart feel as warm as it did in the beginning.
After the simple class reunion, the group left the private room together. Nora Ainsworth and Chloe Marshall went to the restroom, while Quentin Grant and Ethan Ellsworth waited downstairs. Herman Hawthorne had already gone home.
As the two of them reached the restroom door, they heard some rustling sounds from inside.
They went in, used the facilities, and came out. The two of them turned on the faucets to wash their hands. Just as they finished and were about to leave, another stall door opened, and out walked none other than Mrs. Lynch.
Seeing Nora Ainsworth, Mrs. Lynch looked flustered. She immediately ducked back into the stall.
Chloe Marshall and Nora Ainsworth exchanged a look, and they too quickly slipped into the stall next to Mrs. Lynch’s.
A faint voice came from the next stall. “Stay in here for another half hour before you come out. There’s someone I know out there.”
A man’s voice followed, “Okay.”
Chloe Marshall silently mouthed, ‘What are they doing?’
Nora Ainsworth waved her hand, signaling for her to keep listening.
A moment later, Mrs. Lynch came out and looked around. Seeing that the two were gone, she went back inside, her voice growing a bit louder. “They’re gone.”
“Darling, I can’t bear to leave you…” The man’s voice was cloyingly sweet, a bit sickening.
“Me too, me too. We can meet again next time.” Mrs. Lynch’s voice also took on the affect of a young maiden.
Following that was a series of loud, sloppy kissing sounds.
The two women in the other stall were left dumbfounded.
Finally, Chloe Marshall grabbed Nora Ainsworth and hoisted her up. Nora peeked over the top and saw the two kissing passionately.
She let out a couple of chuckles. The two people kissing immediately stopped and searched for the source of the sound. When they finally looked up, both of them jumped in fright.
Mrs. Lynch was so startled she fell right off Hudson’s lap and onto the floor.
“Oh my god!!”
“Hahaha.” Nora Ainsworth got down and walked out with Chloe Marshall.
The door to the next stall opened, and Hudson quickly fled the women’s restroom, leaving Mrs. Lynch all alone.
“Nora Ainsworth!” Mrs. Lynch was burning with fury. “Are you going to tell Leon about this?”
Nora Ainsworth smiled at her. “Mrs. Lynch, the way you say that, it’s as if I’m slandering you. But for someone of your age to be so… insatiable, it seems Mr. Lynch can’t quite satisfy you.”
Mrs. Lynch’s face flushed red, then went pale. “What does that have to do with you?”
“Of course it has nothing to do with me. And since it doesn’t, I won’t waste my breath here.”
She made a move to leave with Chloe Marshall.
“Stop!”
Mrs. Lynch scurried in front of them. “What will it take for you two to keep quiet? Name your price.”
Hearing this, Nora Ainsworth’s smile vanished. “Mrs. Lynch, do we look like we’re short on cash?”
“Who would ever complain about having too much money?”
“But the little bit of money you have is negligible to us. Frankly, it’s not even worth our time. You should watch your step.” With that, Nora Ainsworth left with Chloe Marshall.
Once downstairs, the four of them left the hotel together.
Back at home, Nora Ainsworth thought for a moment, then said, “Should I give Leon a call?”
Quentin Grant agreed. “You should give him a heads-up. Don’t be too direct, just tell him to be more aware.”
“Okay.” Nora Ainsworth dialed Leon Lynch’s number, and the call connected quickly.
“Hello? Are you asleep?”
Leon Lynch replied, “Not yet.”
“Um… Quentin and I were at the Seagull Hotel today and we happened to run into your mom…”
“Was she with someone?”
Nora Ainsworth was a bit surprised. “You know?”
Hearing her reaction, Leon Lynch knew. “My mom has been testing my limits lately.”
Nora Ainsworth didn’t know what to say. “Just… be careful with this. There are reporters everywhere. It would be bad if they got a picture.”
“I will.”
After hanging up, Nora Ainsworth looked at Quentin Grant. “He knows.”
“We’re all adults. Let him handle his own family’s business.”
Nora Ainsworth nodded. “Let’s get some sleep.”
Meanwhile, just as Leon Lynch hung up the phone, Holly Wood asked, “What did Nora call about?”
Leon Lynch got into bed and replied lightly, “She said she saw our mom at the hotel.”
Holly Wood immediately replied, “With that man.”
“Mhm.”
“Don’t say anything to her for now. After all, she saw Nora tonight. Let’s not cause trouble for others. This is something we need to handle carefully. I’ll have someone start tailing her tomorrow.”
“Leon, I think we just have to cut off her money.”
Leon Lynch nodded. “For now.”
Leon Lynch personally went to his parents’ bedroom and took the money Mr. Lynch had left for Mrs. Lynch. The next day, when Mrs. Lynch went to get the money, she discovered it was gone.
She stomped furiously into the living room. “Who took my money?”
The butler tried to placate her. “Ma’am, we haven’t had any outsiders in the house.”
Mrs. Lynch looked at Holly Wood. “Was it you? Did you steal it?”
Holly Wood replied, “Mom, ‘steal’ is not a word you should use lightly. It’s extremely disrespectful. I didn’t take your money.”
“You didn’t take it? Then why is it gone?”
“Mom, when you have money, you never say I’m the one giving it to you, but now that it’s gone, you accuse me of stealing it. You need evidence to make accusations.”
Mrs. Lynch went to check the security footage to see who had entered her room, but when she got there, she found the surveillance system had been broken for several days.
Fuming but helpless, Mrs. Lynch said, “If we can’t find who took the money, then I’m calling the police.”
She watched Holly Wood for a reaction, but Holly remained perfectly calm, unbothered.
Mrs. Lynch was only bluffing about calling the police. For something like this, calling the police would be the same as reporting it to the media.
For someone as obsessed with her reputation as she was, that was not an option.
And so, for many days, Mrs. Lynch had no choice but to stay home, not going out at all.
She waited until Mr. Lynch returned from his trip, which was over a month later.
Mr. Lynch’s trip this time had been very long.
When he got home, he looked much younger than before he left, refreshed and full of life.
A person’s state of mind is something you can see quite clearly.
“You go on a trip and you’re gone for so long. I was starting to think you’d forgotten how to come home.”
Mr. Lynch put his luggage in the room, then said, “Home is a person’s harbor. No matter where you go, you always have to come back.”
“I’m a little puzzled. How could you be in the mood to travel alone for so long? You didn’t find some woman to keep you company?”
Mr. Lynch couldn’t be bothered to respond to her. “Stop worrying about me, and just worry about yourself.”
“The money you gave me vanished into thin air right here in the house. I don’t know who stole it. Give me some more.”
Mr. Lynch took out his wallet and handed her a stack of bills. “This is your allowance for the month.”
Mrs. Lynch took one look and was immediately dissatisfied. “You expect me to live on a few ten-thousand yuan for a whole month? Forget about playing mahjong, this isn’t even enough to buy a few things I want! The New Year is coming up, I have to give out red envelopes, don’t I? Give me five hundred thousand.”
