Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar
Chapter 605: Epilogue (32)
“Nora Ainsworth, what are you doing at my house?”
Nora Ainsworth smiled. “Auntie, what an unpleasant thing to say. I’m here to see Holly, not you, of course.”
Mrs. Lynch said awkwardly, “See you? As if I’d even give you the time of day.”
Nora Ainsworth didn’t say another word and just pulled Holly Wood away with her.
The two of them walked for a long time before having lunch out. It was a very relaxing day for Holly.
When Nora Ainsworth got home in the evening, her feet were aching. The moment she entered the living room, she collapsed onto the sofa with no intention of getting up.
Quentin Grant asked, “Where did you go with that big belly of yours?”
“I went shopping with Holly. We spent the whole day out, eating and drinking. The time just flew by.”
Quentin Grant rested his face on her chest and whispered, “They’ve gotten even fuller since you got pregnant.”
Nora Ainsworth squirmed. “The boys are home.”
“The two of them are upstairs.”
The words had barely left his mouth when a young voice shouted, “Unhand that woman! Let me do it!”
Nora Ainsworth: “…”
Quentin Grant: “…”
The two of them looked up and saw Elmer Grant leaning against the staircase railing, grinning at them.
Nora Ainsworth’s face instantly flushed as she shot Quentin Grant an angry glare.
Elmer Grant skipped cheerfully down the stairs, sat beside Nora Ainsworth, and said smugly, “Daddy, what was your hand doing just now?”
Quentin Grant smiled. “Well, your little brother or sister will be born soon, and they’ll need to nurse when they arrive.”
“You should have just called me, Daddy! Your son can handle a small task like that.”
With that, Elmer Grant lifted Nora Ainsworth’s shirt and, right under Quentin Grant’s nose, nestled into her arms and began to nurse.
After taking a couple of sucks, Elmer Grant even grabbed the other one with his hand. Finally, he stood up, looking utterly pleased with himself, and declared, “No problem at all. I checked. There’s enough milk for when my baby sister or brother is born.”
“…”
“Daddy, you don’t look so good. What’s wrong?”
“…”
“Daddy, I’m going upstairs to bed now.”
“…”
Elmer Grant grinned, then immediately scampered upstairs. Only after he was completely out of sight did Quentin Grant force a few words through his teeth, “Little brat!”
Nora Ainsworth laughed. “So improper. Let’s go up to bed.”
Just as they got upstairs, Nora Ainsworth saw that it had started to snow outside the window.
“It wasn’t snowing when we just got back. It started so quickly.” Overjoyed, she walked out onto the balcony, holding out her hand to catch the small snowflakes.
They landed in her palm, instantly melting into water.
Quentin Grant came over and hugged her from behind. “Nora, the New Year is almost here. Is there any gift you want?”
Nora Ainsworth mulled it over for a moment. “I have everything I could ever want. You’re the best gift.”
“Besides me and the children, is there any other gift you want?”
Nora Ainsworth turned to face him. “I don’t want any New Year’s gifts. Because right now, what I want is pig’s trotters.”
Quentin Grant didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “You’ve been having a lot of cravings lately. You’re such a little glutton.”
“It’s not me who wants to eat, it’s the baby.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll have someone go buy them for you.” He turned and left the balcony.
Nora Ainsworth leaned against the balcony railing, watching as Quentin Grant walked up to one of the Men in Black, pulled out a few hundred-yuan bills, and then headed back toward the living room entrance.
Blanketed by the night, the Luminous Pearl shone with a dazzling light. He was wrapped in a black overcoat, a figure of casual mystery, drawing closer and closer to her.
‘This is my man.’
‘Noble and charming, thoughtful and considerate. A good man who treasures her.’
The snow fell for two straight days, continuing right up to the first day of the Lunar New Year.
The sounds of fireworks and firecrackers filled the city streets. The four members of the Grant Family, dressed in new clothes, went out to make their New Year’s visits in high spirits.
The sides of the road in their residential community were piled high with shoveled snow. The family of four got in the car and headed to the Grant Residence to pay their respects for the New Year.
The car pulled to a steady stop at the entrance of the Grant Residence. Mrs. Grant was already waiting at the door to greet them. Seeing the car stop, she immediately went forward to help Nora Ainsworth out, asking with a smile, “Oh, Nora, the ground is slippery. You’re pregnant, so you must be careful.”
“Yes, Mom, I know.”
Mrs. Grant watched her two grandsons, who were jumping around with boundless energy, her eyes filled with adoration.
“You two be careful as well. It’s all iced over.”
Then, everyone went inside together.
In the living room, Second Grant and Grant were there, along with their families.
It was a large and lively gathering.
After exchanging all sorts of red envelopes, everyone sat down at the long dining table to eat dumplings.
A reunion dinner.
“Nora, how many months pregnant are you?” Second Grant asked.
“A little over three months,” she replied.
“Your belly looks quite big. Don’t tell me it’s twins again?”
Nora Ainsworth pressed her lips together. “No, it’s just one this time.”
“Sister-in-law, two sons are really enough. If you have another one like this, aren’t you afraid the Family Planning Commission will come after you and demand a sky-high fine?” Tanya Grant asked.
Second Grant nudged her daughter and gave a dry laugh. “What is this child talking about? Your sister-in-law’s twins count as one birth, so this is just her second. There’s no fine for a second child in our country.”
Quentin Grant snorted lightly. “What’s a sky-high fine? A few million? Tens of millions? As long as Nora wants children, having eight or ten of them is no problem.”
Tanya Grant retorted, “Having eight or ten… isn’t that what a sow does…”
Quentin Grant’s face instantly turned cold. He glared at her. “Say what you just said to me one more time.”
Second Grant poked Tanya Grant’s head. “This child. You’re so grown up, yet you still don’t know how to speak properly.”
A chill ran through Tanya Grant’s heart under Quentin Grant’s gaze. She shrank back, not daring to say another word.
Nora Ainsworth stepped in to smooth things over. “She’s still young. But actually, Quentin, do you remember? After our get-together last time, we saw Tanya at the hotel entrance, holding hands with a young man as they went inside. Tanya, is that boy your boyfriend?”
Second Grant looked at her daughter. “Is what your sister-in-law said true?”
Tanya Grant was speechless for a moment, and could only nod in the end. “Yes, Mom. I have a boyfriend.”
Second Grant was furious. She had just been boasting to everyone about how her daughter was so obedient and wasn’t dating anyone, and now she’d been exposed. Wasn’t this just a slap in her own face?
But she couldn’t exactly beat her daughter in front of everyone, so she could only say, “If you have a boyfriend, you should have told me. You’re not young anymore, it’s indeed time you had one. Otherwise, people will think no one wants our Tanya.”
Grant spoke up, “Second Sister-in-law, didn’t you say your Tanya was such an obedient, good girl? How did she learn to act first and report later?”
Her words clearly struck a nerve with Second Grant. “It’s fine. Our Tanya is in her twenties. It’s perfectly normal.”
