Chapter 827: Chapter 812: Hero Link

Seren looked at Link, who was in front of him with a bewildered expression, and quickly came to his senses.

"Hero..."

"Hero? Are you talking about me?" Link subconsciously opened his panel, "It really is!"

He crouched down to help Seren sit up, glancing at the other person’s interface in passing.

The handwriting on the panel was blurred, and the health bar was so thin that it was just a layer.

"You look in really bad shape, how can I help you?"

Seren held Link’s hand, and their eyes met.

He didn’t know why Link had amnesia, but at this moment, those eyes didn’t have the madness he had feared.

That was enough.

"My lord, don’t worry about me." Even though he was at the end of his rope, Seren still tried to speak clearly, "Please go defeat the Demon King and save humanity..."

"Wait, even if you suddenly tell me to save humanity..."

"I beg... of you..."

Link wanted to refuse awkwardly, but then he stopped.

The guy named Seren in front of him, his panel had just disappeared.

He confirmed it, really dead.

Link looked helplessly at Seren for a while before helping him close his eyes.

He stood up and looked around; the small chamber only had him and two corpses left.

"Sigh, what is all this?"

Faced with the unknown, he didn’t stay put but chose to go out and explore instead.

However, when he reached the door and tried to open the small door of the chamber, a ring of runes suddenly lit up around the door frame — the chamber door needed to be unlocked before it could open.

Link frowned, as his amnesia left him unfamiliar with the runes, he could only apply more pressure with his hands.

The runes on the door frame flickered violently a few times, then after a few "crack, crack" sounds, they dimmed, and the whole door was torn off the wall by Link.

"Such a fragile door..."

...

After Oath City was breached, the hall of the Relic Association was already in chaos.

As a research institution of the United Kingdom, not all the scholars in the Relic Association were spellcasters, many of them were just ordinary people. After all, if you dedicate yourself to various studies, you naturally have no time to enhance your power.

After the Empire besieged Oath City, the capable spellcasters in the association were all drafted to assist in the city’s defense. Those still in the association didn’t have much combat prowess.

With the inner city’s defenses breached, the association was no longer safe.

Some scholars hurriedly packed various precious manuscripts, undecided whether to hide or flee the city. Others somehow procured some magic items, hoping to use them against the imperial soldiers.

In the midst of this chaos, the base of a stone statue at the end of the corridor suddenly tilted. The statue fell and shattered on the ground, unnoticed by anyone.

Link crawled out from below, holding a sturdy wooden stick, passing through the crowd busy fleeing for their lives, unnoticed by anyone.

"Demon Race?" Link heard the people repeatedly muttering this term and realized the enemy was the Demon Race.

A scholar holding documents brushed past Link, suddenly stopped, and looked at the stick in Link’s hand.

"The Deputy Chairman’s Magic Staff?"

Unfortunately, before he could confirm, Link had already left the Relic Association, and the chaotic crowd soon obscured his figure.

Just after stepping out, Link swung the Magic Staff in a wide arc; people nearby didn’t clearly see his movement, only feeling a sudden strong wind that almost knocked them off their feet.

Then, large amounts of mycelium floated down from the sky.

Link looked at the small chunk of Scout Puki fragments remaining on the staff: "Invisible demons?"

He gazed up at the sky, where several more of these demons floated.

...

Meanwhile, on Lin Jun’s side.

Link?

Is it the same Link I know?

Relying on the vision of other scout Pukis, Lin Jun brought up that person’s panel.

At the bottom of the panel, conspicuously, was the title [Hero]!

Unusually, his attributes section was blacked out.

Lin Jun wasn’t sure if his panel attributes were naturally like this or if he was being blocked; it was the first time Lin Jun saw a panel like this.

Recalling what the demons mentioned earlier, about someone trying to draw a soul from the Ark, this was the case!

The resurrected hero, Link, was this the United Kingdom’s secret weapon?

It’s worth noting that this Link, besides having [Extreme Sword] and several regular skills, didn’t carry any sins or virtues.

Not sure if he didn’t have them initially, or if losing these unique titles was automatic after dying once?

Regarding the suddenly appeared former Hero, Lin Jun decisively chose to observe.

After all, although he was resurrected by humans, the Demon King seemed to have anticipated this, and the possibility that he might have quietly done something cannot be ruled out.

...

On the burning street, a scarred Puki Master was fighting against several members of the Demon Race with a few Puki.

The Puki Master was undoubtedly at a disadvantage, yet he refused to run away, stubbornly guarding the house behind him.

This Puki Master was evidently very seasoned, instructing a few cannon fodder Puki to endure the onslaught of these demons with coordinated use of different skills.

He seized the opportunity, as two Puki suddenly closed in on the leading Lizardman.

"Self-Destruction!"

Boom——!

Just as a smile appeared on his face, a tail lashed out from the dust of the explosion, fiercely knocking him against the wall.

The pain made him dizzy; when his consciousness returned to clarity, the other demons had already used the moment he couldn’t command to clear out his remaining Puki.

He tried to pick up the sword on the ground but was stepped on the chest by the Lizardman, causing him to spit out blood.

The Battle of Oath City had lasted so long that the elite-level Puki were already spent.

The Puki that this Puki Master had controlled before were the cannon fodder produced later, and relying solely on the self-destruct was not enough to kill the Gold Level Lizardman before him.

However, the Lizardman wasn’t feeling well either; his scales were shattered by the explosion, bleeding profusely.

"Wretched!" He kicked over the already powerless Puki Master but didn’t rush to kill him, instead pushing open the door he had been guarding.

In the room, a mother and daughter were curled up in the corner.

The girl looked at the figure on the ground outside, tears falling uncontrollably.

"Daddy..."

Seeing the scene inside, the originally furious Lizardman suddenly laughed: "I see."

He lifted his knife, ready to go inside, but the Puki Master’s hand grabbed his ankle.

Unfortunately, a dying man couldn’t stop seven or eight fierce and evil demon soldiers.

The Lizardman sneered as he easily kicked away his hand, quickly dragging the mother and daughter to the front of the Puki Master, evidently planning to avenge himself for his injury.

Just as he was about to act, a subordinate suddenly interrupted him.

"Captain, there’s someone else."

Looking in the direction indicated by his subordinate, at the end of the street, the firelight outlined a person’s silhouette. A youth stood under the burning eaves, holding a magic staff, seemingly scared out of his wits, staring expressionlessly over here.

"Spellcaster." The Lizardman’s eyes narrowed as he let go of the woman he was holding.

Amidst the perilous battlefield, torturing a few defenseless captives versus confronting an unknown strength mage, he could still differentiate the importance between the two.

Although labeled "unknown strength," based on the youth’s appearance, he seemed young and probably not very strong, let alone looking so terrified; coupled with the expensive-looking magic staff, it might be his first time witnessing a battlefield, a young master perhaps?

"Gru, Fick, flank left, everyone else follow me along the right, charge!"

The Lizardman expertly divided his forces into two routes, across a street’s distance, the spellcaster could at most block one side with spells, while the other group wouldn’t give him a second chance to cast!

Facing the approaching demons, the youth gripped the magic staff like a wooden stick in his hand.

Witnessing this, several demons rushing forward almost couldn’t hold back their laughter.

"So scared he forgot how to cast spells? What a newbie!"

The Lizardman took a great leap, swinging the long knife down.

The youth also swung the magic staff around.

Bang——!

The Lizardman’s body exploded like a watermelon, blood, scales, and chunks scattered in the air.

Blood rain fell on the face, the imperial soldiers originally closely following the Lizardman were momentarily unable to react, instinctively slowing their advance.

But their hesitation didn’t mean Link hesitated.

Just as the demons were stunned, the youth who was several meters away seemingly teleported to another soldier’s front, swinging the magic staff around...

Bang——!

...

Standing amidst the remnants of shattered corpses, Link’s gaze fell upon the mother and daughter crying over the Puki Master’s body in the distance.

Vaguely, he seemed to have seen a similar scene before, which made him involuntarily uneasy.

Crack——

The advanced "wooden stick", which crushed seven fully armed demons without damage, now displayed a slight crack.

"Rescue, eh..."

Originally intending just to leave here, Link turned and walked toward the direction of the cries.

Behind him, mycelium climbed onto the Puki Master’s corpse, decomposing the flesh, and a new Mushroom Transformer was about to be born in the Mushroom Garden.
