Chapter 337 - 234: Yao’s Kiss
Chapter 337: Chapter 234: Yao’s Kiss
Why couldn’t they find the tombs? The era was simply too long ago, separated by several generations. In the past, people were buried in their fields, like on a mountain terrace. But after the land was redistributed multiple times and changed hands over and over, they could only guess at the general location.
From this perspective, the old tombs were more "eco-friendly," leaving no trace after enough time had passed. Otherwise, after five thousand years, wouldn’t the entire world be covered in graves?
Modern cemeteries, on the other hand, cast in concrete, actually take up permanent space.
Next, his grandmother took Li Xiang to the Li Family Village’s ancestral hall. There, facing the spirit tablets of their ancestors, they went through the whole ritual all over again.
Li Xiang: "..."
...
"Brother Xiang, my combat power is so low. Even if I get an opportunity, I’m afraid I won’t be able to perform well." Yao Yao swirled the red wine in her glass, then noticed with surprise that in just that short time, ice crystals had formed in the wine.
It wasn’t her Superpower. The weather was just that frigid. Drinking red wine outdoors, and it was actually starting to freeze.
Generally, alcohol is relatively difficult to freeze; the higher the proof, the lower the freezing point. Even though red wine has a low alcohol content, this was still an exaggeration. After all, Sichuan Province was in the south, where this sort of thing rarely ever happened.
The bottle they were drinking had an alcohol by volume of 14.5%. Red wines under 12% ABV tended to lack a certain something and didn’t quite suit the palates of people from China. This 14.5% bottle was on the stronger side for a red, and it was a dry red with low sugar content. This meant the temperature outside had to be at least -15 degrees Celsius, or the wine in their glasses wouldn’t have frozen so quickly.
"Brother Xiang, look. My heart is as cold as this glass of wine." Yao Yao drained the wine and its ice flakes in a single gulp, chewing the frozen bits with a loud CRUNCH. Her face was a picture of melancholy.
"Alright, alright, stop being so dramatic. I’ll give you something to boost your combat power," Li Xiang said, unable to watch any longer.
"Wow, really? That’s amazing!" Yao Yao instantly perked up, leaping to her feet and throwing her arms around Li Xiang. "Brother Xiang, I knew you were the best!"
It took a moment for Li Xiang to catch on. "Wait a minute," he asked, "did you come here and act all pitiful on purpose just to get something out of me?"
"Hey, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Brother Xiang, you can’t go back on your word now." Yao Yao draped herself over Li Xiang and whispered in his ear, "I’ve already learned the Seventy-Two Transformations."
"Seventy-Two Transformations? What do you mean, Seventy-Two Transformations?" Li Xiang asked, his interest piqued.
Yao Yao giggled. "I can transform into seventy-two different, alluring beauties! And I’m still working hard to master three hundred and sixty-five transformations, one for every day of the year without any repeats. Mmm, when I’m done, I’ll make a menu for you, complete with selfies. You can just pick whichever one you want to ’flip through.’ I guarantee every time will be a novel experience."
"You again?" Li Xiang was rendered speechless. ’Trying to test me with this?’ He pushed her away. "If the Great Sage Equal to Heaven knew you were using his Seventy-Two Transformations for... *this*, he’d probably kill you with a single swing of his staff!"
"Go on then, Brother Xiang. Come and kill me with a single swing!" Yao Yao teased.
"Behave," Li Xiang chided.
"Okay, getting serious right now!" Yao Yao immediately wiped the smile from her face, putting on a solemn expression. But she couldn’t hold it for long. A bright smile bloomed on her face as she argued, "The Great Sage Equal to Heaven paralyzed the Seven Fairy Maidens and then just went to steal peaches. What a total lack of imagination! His version of the Seventy-Two Transformations was a complete waste. If you want to see the *real* Seventy-Two Transformations, you have to watch me."
And so, Yao Yao began her demonstration right then and there.
Her version of the seventy-two transformations had been practiced to the point of being an "Instant Cast," or what one might call an "Instant Transformation." It was nothing like her first attempts, where it would take two or three minutes just to barely manage a single change.
She had practiced it to perfection, essentially creating ’shortcuts.’ She no longer needed to think when she transformed; each appearance was saved like a preset "Character Card," with every detail refined and exquisitely rendered.
For a moment, Li Xiang was completely dazzled, unable to keep up with the flurry of changes.
Yao Yao felt a swell of pride. ’This is just the exterior,’ she thought. ’If he were to undress them and study them carefully, he’d find that in every detail, every internal structure, each beautiful body is completely different. It’s a criminal waste for Brother Xiang not to come and experience this. He doesn’t know a treasure when he sees one.’
"Stop, stop, stop! Don’t change anymore! For the village’s New Year’s gala this year, you can perform the Sichuan Opera Face-Changing," Li Xiang hastily called out. ’If this keeps up,’ he thought, ’I’m not going to be able to resist.’
"Face-Changing? Sure, why not." To Yao Yao, that was a piece of cake, something she could do with ease. At the same time, she couldn’t help but complain to herself. ’With a skill this incredible, you want me to perform Sichuan Opera Face-Changing? How is that any different from Sun Monkey paralyzing the Seven Fairy Maidens just to go eat some peaches? Ugh, what a lack of imagination.’
And with that, Li Xiang started picking out a weapon for her.
Weapons like the Big Saber, Giant Axe, and great hammers were definitely not suitable for Yao Yao. Her strength was relatively low, so she likely couldn’t wield such heavy armaments.
"By the way, how strong are you now?" Li Xiang asked.
Yao Yao shook her head. "I don’t really know, but I’d guess around three or four hundred pounds’ worth." She was a Tier One Transcendent, after all. Even if she wasn’t skilled in combat, her raw strength was still impressive.
"Try this spear." Li Xiang took out a Bronze Spear. Yao Yao accepted it, overjoyed. Her Spear Technique was decent, and she immediately began performing the Gale Snowstorm Spear in the snow.
The Gale Snowstorm Spear consisted of thirty-six intricate moves. In the past, when Yao Yao used an Indonesian Vine Stick as a substitute for a spear, she could perform the entire set several times over, even adding her own variations. But now, using the Bronze Spear, she was panting for breath after performing just nineteen of the moves. She found herself unable to execute many of the finer, more delicate maneuvers and had no choice but to stop and rest.
