My Arms Can Turn into Blades
Chapter 831 - 80: Second Wave
Night has fallen.
On the beach, the campfire was lit, and the waves consistently crashed onto the sand, producing a rhythmic white noise.
Tang Language awkwardly skewered the lamb meat onto the iron skewers, then happily poked the skewers into the tongues of fire, watching the lamb sizzle in the flames. Her beautiful eyes twinkled under the firelight.
Ultimately.
Tang Language, using the reason that she didn’t have enough fun, directly convinced Chen Lusi to bring over a whole set of barbecue tools from Celestial Strategy Trading, and they specially went to buy a bunch of ingredients.
Chen Lusi didn’t object.
Because he could tell that not only Tang Language, but also Si Yujie and Xia Panqiu didn’t want to go back.
As for the reason, Chen Lusi himself speculated that it was partly because they hadn’t yet forgotten the scene of Huai Yuan’s demon descent in such a short time, and partly because... like Si Yujie, they still had many questions left unanswered about the events not long ago.
After all, the incident at Jiming Temple not long ago was too bizarre.
Of course.
Actually, there was one reason he hadn’t thought of.
Which was.
... It would be such a waste to go back after finally changing into swimwear.
Nonetheless.
Although they decided to stay.
The two little girls... or more accurately, Si Jiayan wasn’t suitable to stay here any longer.
After all, after nightfall.
The wind on the beach was still quite strong.
Si Yujie really worried she’d catch a cold, so she took the little girl back first.
As for Lan, she accompanied them back.
This was at Si Yujie’s request, saying she wanted Lan to act as a bodyguard and let the two young ones further communicate.
What Chen Lusi hadn’t expected was that the two little girls... including Lan, agreed.
So the final result was.
The two little girls went back.
Only four adults remained.
Hmm, currently three.
Si Yujie first sent the two little ones back.
"Here, try it! It’s great, right!"
Caught in a daze while watching the campfire,
A skewer suddenly extended his way.
Tang Language’s fair little face was full of anticipation, looking at Chen Lusi.
Chen Lusi glanced at her, then looked down at half-burnt and half-raw skewered lamb, paused for a moment: "You have it yourself..."
"Don’t be polite!"
But Tang Language, ignoring him, directly stuffed the skewered lamb into his hand, then cheerfully began roasting the second skewer.
Seemed... quite proud indeed.
Obviously.
She thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of helping others.
Considering she always claimed to be the older sister, often butting heads with Si Yujie, it wasn’t hard to guess what she was thinking.
Chen Lusi sighed while looking at Tang Language, then just as he was about to force down the half-raw lamb skewer.
"Gimme that."
On the other side.
Suddenly, Xia Panqiu scooted over a bit, then whispered.
Chen Lusi turned his head, still processing,
When Xia Panqiu, quick-eyed and quick-handed, switched her skewer with his.
"..."
Looking at the golden-brown, perfectly done skewer now in his hand, and then glancing at Xia Panqiu’s blushing fair face due to the firelight, he softly said: "Thank you."
"Don’t let Tangyu Celestial Strategy hear."
Leaning closer, Xia Panqiu whispered: "I’ve realized Tangyu Celestial Strategy is really no different than Xiaoyan."
Chen Lusi smirked at the remark: "Yeah."
Xia Panqiu pursed her lips, softly added: "Though I’m pretty similar myself."
"That’s not bad either."
Taking a bite of the lamb skewer, Chen Lusi gazed at the starry night sky: "Tang Language, you, Si Yujie can all enjoy each day even more."
"..."
Upon hearing his words, Xia Panqiu slowly turned to view Chen Lusi’s profile, then gently said: "Indeed."
Confused, Chen Lusi asked: "Hmm?"
"Xiaoxiao mentioned you joining the third squad of Celestial Strategy, actually holding the mindset of becoming a martyr."
Gazing at Chen Lusi’s sharply defined face, Xia Panqiu softly stated: "But the thing is, none of us want you to become a martyr."
Shaking his head, Chen Lusi refuted: "That’s overstating things."
"Not overstated at all."
Ignoring the wind which scrambled her lovely short hair, Xia Panqiu softly uttered: "I haven’t just known you starting today."
"..."
Looking at Xia Panqiu, Chen Lusi instinctively grabbed the skewer, realizing he’d finished it.
"Here you go."
Xia Panqiu again lifted the perfectly grilled skewer, passing it over.
"...Thanks."
Responding with a thanks, Chen Lusi accepted it.
Meanwhile.
Tang Language seemed to have burnt another, busy rescuing it while sneaking glances at Chen Lusi, checking if he noticed.
"...Actually, I sometimes cook too."
Xia Panqiu, not entertaining Tang Language, kept focused on Chen Lusi: "How is it?"
Looking down at the lamb skewer in hand though unclear about the connection to cooking, Chen Lusi politely answered: "Pretty good..."
Xia Panqiu set aside her skewer, clasping knees with long legs, tilted her head curious: "Really?"
Confirming, Chen Lusi replied: "Yes."
Upon receiving affirmation.
Xia Panqiu eagerly expressed: "Honestly, I’ve always wanted to treat you to a meal..."
Seemingly surprised, Chen Lusi asked: "Why?"
"I don’t know either."
Lightly hugging her fair thighs on the small stool, Xia Panqiu swung gently, looked towards the night sky: "Just wanted to do it... like this moment."
"At this moment?"
"I’d love to go swimming."
Lowering her gaze, turning to Chen Lusi, a slight blush on Xia Panqiu’s face.
Frozen in motion, Chen Lusi displayed a surprised expression.
"What’s with that look?"
Xia Panqiu playfully scolded: "Didn’t you just swim with Xiaoxiao?"
