Chapter 466 - 412: Heading to the Ancestral Land, Lying in Wait, Seizing the Dusk Token

  • Next Chapter

The Ancestral Realm was a Secret Realm belonging to the Thunder Clan. It was filled with abundant Spirit Charm and was said to be the clan’s place of origin. It also stored the Thunder Clan’s rarest treasures, a hoard of all sorts of Treasures of Heaven and Earth.

They were on a completely different level from a race like the Soul Race. After all, the Soul Race’s territory was merely a single city. The Thunder Clan, however, controlled dozens, even hundreds of cities just as large, not to mention countless others of varying tiers. They were the true Dominator of the Thunder Great Realm!

This Ancestral Land, naturally, stored the Thunder Clan’s most precious treasures. To put it into perspective, among the vast resources Jiang Qiu had obtained from the Soul Race, almost none were worthy of being placed in the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land. Yet, items of that caliber were piled up like mountains there.

This was the gap between a major race from an ordinary Great Realm and a Dominator Level race from a renowned one. Such was the foundation of a power with over a dozen Unity Realm experts!

It was a pity that such a great race had been wiped out just like that, all because the Bloodthirsty White Tiger achieved Unity and its remnant soul revived.

However, this gave Jiang Qiu the perfect opportunity. After temporarily entrusting Shangguan Yue to Yang Lei, he personally headed for the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land.

Fortunately, Yang Lei personally led the way, saving him a lot of trouble. In what felt like the blink of an eye, the three of them arrived at the entrance to the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land. It was indeed a Secret Realm, but the guards at the entrance were gone, and the surrounding space-time was collapsing. Clearly, the situation inside was dire.

"Looks like someone beat us to it?"

Yang Lei narrowed his eyes. This was not good news.

Very few people could have known about the Thunder Clan’s extermination. Knowledge of this event was incredibly exclusive, requiring a vast intelligence network capable of instantly detecting that the Thunder Clan’s influence had dropped to zero, then promptly investigating and reporting back.

’If not for my Three-Life Race background and having been stationed in the Thunder Great Realm for several thousand years, I might not have believed that the Thunder Clan was truly gone.’

’The factions capable of this are extremely few—almost none are publicly known. The Three-Life Race, after all, values profit and commerce, which is why we established such an extensive intelligence network. The Thunder Clan only permitted it because it brought them considerable benefits as well.’

’What other faction would dare to build its own intelligence network right under the nose of a reigning Dominator race?’

’If they hadn’t confirmed the Thunder Clan was destroyed, who would dare to just wander in here, let alone try to force their way into the Ancestral Land?’

’It couldn’t be that they’re so overwhelmingly powerful that they simply never gave the Thunder Clan a second thought...’

Just as he was lost in thought, he suddenly sensed ripples of space-time fluctuations emanating from the entrance. The interior was clearly in extreme turmoil. Even with the Thunder Clan annihilated, they must have left behind numerous defenses. This was no place for ordinary people to barge into; even a Unity Realm expert might be slain upon entry!

Such was the foundation of a Dominator Level race from a renowned Great Realm!

Realizing this, Jiang Qiu made a suggestion. "Senior Yang Lei, why don’t we just wait out here? If someone really did get in before us, we can just ambush them when they come out. This Ancestral Land looks too dangerous; there’s no need for us to risk going in ourselves."

"Alright."

Yang Lei nodded in agreement.

’I came here to help Jiang Qiu,’ he thought. ’While I can’t get too involved and cause any negative repercussions, I’m certainly not going to do nothing at all.’

’Just escorting him here would be too half-hearted. Given the circumstances, helping him lie in wait for his prize is an excellent way to show my support.’

’After all, I’m a renowned figure myself—the official head of the Three-Life Race in the Thunder Great Realm. My personal influence is immense. Even the Nine Venerables from the Nine Venerable Great Realm would have to address me as ’Fellow Daoist’ upon meeting me.’

’Such is the power of the Peak of Unity Realm. In the entire Thunder Great Realm, there are few who can stand on par with me.’

’I could even take action if necessary. As long as I can befriend a reincarnated expert as mysterious as Jiang Qiu, it will be well worth it.’

With this in mind, he waited with Jiang Qiu near the Ancestral Land, found a relatively hidden spot, and began to cultivate, resting and restoring his energy.

After they concealed themselves, a number of Fusion Realm Cultivators arrived one after another. They all attempted to enter the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land, wanting to see for themselves if the clan was truly finished.

Unfortunately, none who attempted to enter ever came back out. The sun rose and fell, and after an unknown amount of time, the entrance to the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land once again erupted with space-time fluctuations.

VMMMM—

This time, the space-time fluctuations were intense, threatening to tear the entrance itself apart. Accompanying them was an incredibly dense aura of the Unity Realm. A supreme expert was about to emerge!

Jiang Qiu’s eyes snapped open. With a single thought, he pulled Snow and warped out of their hiding place. Yang Lei appeared beside them at the same moment, his expression grave as he stared at the entrance. "How can there be such a dense Unity Realm aura? Since when did the Thunder Great Realm have such a powerful figure?"

’There was someone like this before,’ he thought. ’An Ancestor of the Thunder Clan possessed strength at roughly this level, the absolute pinnacle of the Unity Realm with no room left to advance. But an existence like that already perished. How could there be another figure this powerful!’

’In other words, this person isn’t a known figure. They’re either a hidden expert from within the Thunder Great Realm, or a supreme expert who was just passing through and got trapped by the realm’s space-time lockdown before they could leave.’

’Of course, the first possibility is more likely. After all, supreme experts aren’t typically nomadic. Who spends their days just wandering around?’

’When you’ve already reached a point where you can’t advance any further, where else is there to travel?’

As his thoughts flowed to this point, Yang Lei issued a warning. "This Unity Realm expert seems to be severely injured, but his killing intent is immense. I’m not confident I can restrain him. If he has other trump cards, he’ll be incredibly difficult to deal with. What’s more, we don’t know if he has the Dusk Token..."

Jiang Qiu understood. A supreme expert was still a supreme expert, no matter how injured. If he decided to make a last, desperate stand, this entire area would be razed to the ground.

It would be irrational to back themselves into a corner fighting for the Dusk Token, especially since Yang Lei himself admitted he wasn’t confident.

But the Dusk Token was something he had to obtain. Jiang Qiu didn’t want to miss this chance. He took a deep breath and exchanged a look with Snow, a silent understanding passing between them in an instant.

’The Half-Step Unity Realm is just a sliver away from the true Unity Realm,’ he thought. ’And the Dao that Snow and I walk is so unique that we are practically one person to begin with.’

’Which means... it might not be impossible for us to merge into one.’

’In fact, we’ve made many attempts over the past few days, but we’ve only ever skimmed the surface. We’ve never tried to merge so deeply, because we could sense that something major would happen. It would have been completely irrational.’

’But now, if we don’t try, there’s no way we’ll get the Dusk Token!’

’The Hundred Ghosts Dao... two supreme bodies forged through Dragon Body Casting... a pure Dragon Race bloodline... plus an immense boost from our Talent... It’s no exaggeration to say we’re invincible within our realm. A Half-Step Unity expert like us might even be able to kill someone at the Initial Tier of the Unity Realm. If we merge, perhaps we could even contend with an expert at the Peak of the Unity Realm.’

At this thought, their minds connected completely. Invisible threads seemed to link their fingertips, their wills becoming one. Meanwhile, Yang Lei’s eyes narrowed and his brow furrowed. He instantly drew his life-bound greatsword. The opponent’s aura was too powerful; it would be foolish not to be on his guard!

BOOM—

A world-shaking roar erupted as the entrance to the Thunder Clan’s Ancestral Land suddenly unleashed a massive torrent of the Space-Time Dao’s aura. A blue-skinned expert in tattered clothes was revealed. He looked as though he had just carved his way out of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. His eyes were crimson, his killing intent overwhelming. Though disheveled and stained with blood, he appeared all the more cold and arrogant!

Upon seeing the man’s face, Yang Lei’s eyes widened in shock!
