My Arts Evolve When Perfected
Chapter 581: One-Tail's Great Transformation
Ever since Jiang Qiu had arrived in Nine-tailed Fox City, Great Demon Ancestors from other cities of the Demon Race had been arriving periodically to pay their respects. Even some Ancestors at the Super True Dominator level came out of their seclusion to visit.
It was important to understand that a Super True Dominator was the undisputed strongest expert in a Demon Race city—the sole figure of their kind. The power and authority they wielded towered above all others. Under normal circumstances, they would not make public appearances. Most spent their time in seclusion, researching how to break through to the True Body Realm. Their goal was to one day travel to the Chaos Main City, receive the blessings of the Chaos Bloodline, and attain an even longer life.
For this very reason, those Super True Dominators hadn’t even attended the Celestial Wolf Ancestor’s birthday banquet personally, sending representatives in their stead.
But when those representatives returned to their own cities, they brought news that Celestial Wolf City had been struck by an unprecedented, massive Thunder Tribulation. Most of its inhabitants had been annihilated, and astonishingly, the Celestial Wolf Ancestor had used the tribulation to successfully break through to the True Body Realm. All the Middle Rank Super True Dominators were utterly stunned.
They had never imagined the Celestial Wolf Ancestor would encounter such a fortuitous opportunity. Even more unbelievably, the Thunder Tribulation had apparently been summoned by a “Nine-tailed Fox God.”
The term “God” was generally a title for a Celestial Spirit, but not every Celestial Spirit could be called a god. The key was that the so-called god had to perform some earth-shattering deed worthy of being remembered by all.
So, when everyone heard that the Celestial Wolf Ancestor had renamed Celestial Wolf City to Nine-tailed Fox City because of this, they were all astonished. They guessed that the stories might actually be true!
The main reason for their disbelief was that the representatives had initially claimed the Thunder Tribulation had destroyed more than half of Celestial Wolf City. It was a difficult claim to accept. After all, Celestial Wolf City was home to a million members of the Demon Race and covered a vast area. How could a single Thunder Tribulation destroy most of it and kill over half its population?
They had never witnessed such a spectacle. Even the legendary Taihu Python, rumored to be immense and powerful enough to swallow tens of thousands of Dominators in a single gulp, seemed no more impressive when compared to this scene.
The Taihu Python, after all, had to actively devour members of the Demon Race. In contrast, the Nine-tailed Fox God’s Thunder Tribulation had merely grazed Celestial Wolf City, and the side effects alone had been enough to level it!
If the Celestial Wolf Ancestor hadn’t broken through to the True Body Realm at the last moment and received the Nine-tailed Fox God’s protection, there was no way he could have withstood so many bolts of lightning. He had barely survived the ordeal as it was.
It was only natural, then, that the Nine-tailed Fox God earned boundless reverence. Everyone hoped for a chance to witness the god’s divine radiance, or at the very least, to leave a good impression on the Celestial Wolf Ancestor, whose power had just skyrocketed.
The Celestial Wolf Ancestor had now surpassed them all by an entire Realm, creating a world of difference in their statuses. Forget about the Nine-tailed Fox God’s reputation—if the Celestial Wolf Ancestor himself were to summon them, who would dare to refuse?
Thus, wave after wave of Ancestors rushed from the major Middle Rank cities, all to present treasures to the Nine-tailed Fox God. They brought regional specialties and delivered them to the Chief Priest, Song Jiu—the Squirrel Demon—who then passed them on to Jiang Qiu to manage.
Why not give the gifts to the public face of the city, the most powerful expert, the Celestial Wolf Ancestor?
Because the Celestial Wolf Ancestor had already ascended to the True Body Realm, Nine-tailed Fox City was no longer to be his permanent residence. He planned to travel to the Chaos Main City to seek further advancement. He could serve as a patron for Nine-tailed Fox City, but he would no longer manage its affairs.
The position of City Lord could be inherited by the eldest direct descendant of the Celestial Wolf Race bloodline, but the heir had to be chosen by the Chief Priest. This made Song Jiu the most powerful person in Nine-tailed Fox City and the one closest to the Nine-tailed Fox. As if receiving some faint blessing from her new station, she could even feel her own power transforming. Her Realm began to loosen until she broke through to the Transformation Realm in a single stroke, becoming an Ancestor Level figure herself. She was no weaker than the other Ancestors in Nine-tailed Fox City, proving herself worthy of representing the Nine-tailed Fox God.
Consequently, when other Ancestors came to visit, they negotiated with her first. The vast quantities of precious gifts were then transferred to Jiang Qiu, who remained behind the scenes.
Of course, they had no idea who this person behind the scenes was. They only knew that a man was involved, but no precise information about him was available, and they did not recognize him.
And so it went. Most members of the Demon Race who came to visit left without ever catching a glimpse of the Nine-tailed Fox God. Sometime later, the Nine-tailed Fox and One-tailed finally awoke, and Jiang Qiu led them away from Nine-tailed Fox City.
Upon waking, One-tailed had grown into the form of a young woman, her aura more mature. Yet, she still loved to sit in the palm of Ah Xiong’s hand, her legs dangling freely. A gentle breeze brushed against her cheek, sending ripples through her snow-white hair.
‘I had a very long dream. So many people were calling me a god. I saw all living beings, countless members of the Demon Race worshiping me. Their faith gathered, point by point, like fireflies converging into a river that swirled around me.’
She couldn’t understand what this power was. She had never heard anyone speak of it, nor had she learned about it from anywhere. It had simply appeared in her dream.
She felt herself coming into contact with an unprecedented force, as if she were beginning to touch upon a system that transcended the First Celestial Realm. She was starting to understand her own significance.
