My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 467: The Best is Yet to Come
What? Amina’s pregnant?
Zeke Walton suddenly remembered. The day they’d made up after their fight, they’d gone at it like crazy, multiple times. He hadn’t used any protection…
“To the hospital! To the hospital!”
Overcome with excitement, he immediately rushed Amina, her grandmother, and his mother to the hospital.
After a thorough examination, the doctor delivered the good news.
“She is indeed pregnant. And there are two embryos.”
What did that mean? The Walton family had no history of twins. Zeke Walton and his mother were stunned by the immense surprise.
The doctor smiled and explained, “It means she’s carrying two babies. They’ll either be identical twins or a boy and a girl. Congratulations, Mrs. Walton.”
Mrs. Walton let out an excited shriek and hugged Amina.
“Oh my god, I’m going to be a grandma! I’m going to be a grandma! Two at once? This is wonderful! I have to call your dad right away. He’s going to be ecstatic when he hears the news!”
The doctor went to get Amina some folic acid, set up a file for her, and explained the precautions for early pregnancy.
While they were waiting for Mr. Walton to arrive, Mrs. Walton couldn’t help but ask Zeke.
“Do you think it’ll be two boys, or two girls? Or maybe one of each? A boy and a girl would be just perfect.”
‘What does she mean by that?’ A muscle in Zeke Walton’s brow twitched.
“You aren’t one of those people who prefers boys over girls, are you? Are you saying that if she has two daughters, you’ll make her keep trying until she gives you a grandson?”
“How could you even think that? You really don’t know your mother at all!”
Mrs. Walton said, “Your father and I have regretted not having a daughter our whole lives—all we got was you. How could I possibly prefer boys? I just hope… if they’re two girls, I’d still hope she could have a son later on. After all, girls sometimes need a brother to help them out.”
Zeke Walton could understand that.
If he had daughters, he, their old man, couldn’t follow them around until he died. There would come a day when he couldn’t protect them. But if they had a brother, an older one or a younger one…
But that was all for the future.
“We’ll talk about it later. For now, let’s just focus on getting through this first pregnancy.”
Just as Amina finished up and they were all stepping out of the examination room, Mr. Walton came rushing over.
As the father-in-law, he couldn’t express his affection for his daughter-in-law too directly, so he just looked at Amina with satisfaction, nodding repeatedly.
“Wonderful! Two at once! She’s the great hero of our family! Come on, come on, everyone home with me. I’m going to give her a huge red envelope!”
It was true. Now that Amina was pregnant and his parents approved of her, there was no need for her to live in a rental apartment anymore. Zeke Walton took her and her grandmother back to the Walton Villa.
The moment they walked in, Mr. Walton scurried upstairs in a flurry.
A moment later, he rushed back down, his arms full of things.
“These were passed down from your grandmothers when they were alive. Here, take them, take them, Amina. They’re all yours now.”
Amina opened the box and took a look. ‘It’s just like in the TV dramas,’ she thought. ‘Do all wealthy families love to pass down jade jewelry?’
Inside the box lay a beautiful emerald bracelet and a matching pendant.
“These have been passed down since the Qing Dynasty. They’re priceless. You wear them for now, and later on, you can pass them down.”
When Amina heard they were priceless, she didn’t dare accept them. At a loss, she looked to Zeke Walton.
Zeke Walton took her hand and slipped the bracelet onto her wrist.
“I cost you two of your bracelets the other day, didn’t I? I promised to make it up to you, so this is perfect. Besides, we’ll have to pass this on to our daughter-in-law someday. This is a symbol of Mom and Dad’s approval. Wear it!”
Mr. Walton then selected several property deeds and handed them to Amina.
“Tomorrow, have your mother take you to transfer these properties into your name. It’s for your security. I chose ones in good locations with high potential for appreciation. Take a look, and if you’re not satisfied, we can swap them for others.”
“These are the titles for the cars. You probably don’t know how to drive yet, but you can get your license after the babies are born. Then you can just pick whichever one you like and drive it.”
“There are also company shares. Zeke Walton has always refused to work at the company, so it’ll be yours in the future. I’ll transfer his shares to your name. Since you won’t have much to do during your pregnancy, you can come with me to the office, get a feel for the place, and learn a bit about management. From now on, you’re the boss of this family.”
Just yesterday, things were so different, and now this sudden change… The happiness came so abruptly that Amina felt a little dizzy.
“Uncle, Auntie…”
Mr. Walton cut in, “Still calling us Uncle and Auntie? You’re already carrying our grandchildren. It’s time to change how you address us!”
Mrs. Walton suddenly seemed to remember something. “Right, right, we haven’t given you the gift for changing your address! Quick, quick, Butler, is there any cash in the house? Bring all of it! I need to make a big red envelope!”
But that wasn’t what Amina meant at all.
She wasn’t hesitating because she hadn’t received the gift; it was all just too sudden.
But Mr. and Mrs. Walton pushed a stack of cash toward her anyway, then looked at her expectantly.
Amina’s face turned as red as a tomato, but she gritted her teeth and called out.
“Dad, Mom, thank you.”
Mrs. Walton took her hand. “Don’t mention it, don’t mention it. We’re all one family from now on. Your father and I don’t have many flaws, but we are fiercely protective of our own. We’ll protect you like our own daughter from now on. Let’s not talk about the past. All that matters is that you’re not angry with us!”
“While your belly isn’t showing yet, I’ll have a designer come to the house tomorrow to take your measurements and make you some clothes. Do you have a favorite brand for a wedding dress? We should get that custom-made right away, too. You two need to have the wedding as soon as possible, otherwise a wedding dress won’t look as good with a baby bump.”
“Oh, I suddenly feel so busy! My life has a new sense of purpose! Tomorrow, I’ll go scout wedding venues for you. What style do you like? A traditional Chinese wedding or a Western one?”
Lying in bed in his room with Zeke Walton, Amina still felt like she was in a daze.
“Is this real? I’m not dreaming, am I? Zeke, pinch me.”
Zeke Walton chuckled and kissed her on the cheek.
“You’re not dreaming. You’re going to be a mother, and I’m going to be a father. I’m so excited right now, too. Tomorrow, I’m going to tell the guys the good news so they can share in the excitement!”
Zeke Walton was too excited to sleep well that night. First thing the next morning, he sent separate messages to Damien Vaughn and Brandon Jacobs.
“You have to clear your schedules for me this morning, no matter what. I have a huge announcement to make. Bring your partners. Be there or be square! If you don’t show up, our friendship is over.”
Thinking something serious had happened between him and Amina, Damien Vaughn with Cecelia Archer, and Brandon Jacobs with Faye Fisher, all showed up on time at the cafe he’d chosen at nine in the morning.
When they arrived, they saw him and Amina holding hands. Amina was wearing a high-end designer outfit, dressed like a little princess, with a blissful smile on her face. Cecelia Archer and Faye Fisher exchanged a look.
‘What’s going on?’ they wondered. ‘Did Zeke Walton hit the jackpot or something?’
“So, what did you call us here to tell us?”
Zeke Walton happily announced, “My parents have accepted Amina, and we’re getting married!”
What?
As witnesses to their entire relationship journey, Cecelia Archer and Faye Fisher jumped up in excitement.
“Really? When did this happen? That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you guys!”
Startled, Damien Vaughn quickly reached out to steady Cecelia Archer.
“Cecelia, I know you’re excited, but please try not to jump around.”
