Chapter 69: Divine Slap (2)
Chapter 69: Divine Slap (2)
Chapter 69
"Sys... we’re rich!"
Liyu exclaimed with a grin plastered across his face as he stared at the several gold coins in his hand.
Of course, this was the money he had gotten from the disciples who had bet against him; not only had he slapped the hell out of them, pushing every single one of them closer to death’s door, but he had also managed to extort a large amount of money from them.
Those fools had really thought they could take advantage of him... they truly were idiots. Well... Liyu couldn’t exactly blame them; they had no idea who he was now, but he was going to set all their heads straight soon enough.
To be honest... he was even certain that the heads of those who had made bets with him today had already been set straight. "I really wonder if I should make more bets... extorting money from people really is the best way to get rich fast... the fastest shortcut to becoming wealthy."
The System’s voice rang out inside his mind at that moment: "Host... don’t you think you’ve gone slightly overboard?" The System’s tone carried a hint of reprimand.
"It hasn’t even been a full day yet, and you’ve already caused this much trouble. At the very least, you could’ve kept your cool for a few days before releasing your madness." Liyu raised an eyebrow. "Sys... you seem to be mistaken. I’m actually keeping myself in check. If not... all those fools would’ve already been dead by now."
He shrugged as though killing someone with a single slap was the most normal thing in the world. The System wanted to argue back, yet it couldn’t.
After all, out of everyone, the System knew Liyu was telling nothing but the truth; he had indeed held back his punches... or rather... his slaps.
Otherwise, the System was more than certain that every single one of those disciples would’ve died from a single strike.
It couldn’t be helped; Liyu had simply surpassed them by that much.
The gap between him and ordinary Body Refinement cultivators had already become so enormous that sending hundreds of them against him was no different from sending tiny insects to fight a gorilla... they would simply be crushed without the slightest resistance.
Yet despite Liyu only using roughly a quarter of his strength in those slaps, he had still knocked almost all of them unconscious; several of them had even suffered broken bones after being launched through multiple walls.
In short... it had been an absolute disaster for everyone foolish enough to have written their names on that betting list. "Don’t worry about them, Sys. None of them died. Although some came very, very close to it... they’ll still survive."
"After all, the Li Clan has plenty of skilled physicians; they’ll be saved. Let’s not keep talking about that... it’s all sorted out now. And besides... we earned a lot of money from the deal." He said while happily looking at the shiny pile of gold coins resting on the table before him.
The System fell silent; it almost sounded as though it was holding back countless curses. After a while, however, it finally spoke again: "Hey, Host... I hope you haven’t forgotten where you are."
Ahem... Liyu coughed awkwardly, nearly falling flat on his face. Of course he knew where he was... or rather... where he had been locked up. "I know... this is home arrest." "Home?" The System scoffed.
"Don’t try to sugarcoat your situation. You’re locked inside a prison. Look at those bars."
Liyu glanced over; of course he knew he was inside some kind of prison. Well... he still had a comfortable bed, the room was clean, and it was well furnished; so... he could still call this home arrest.
"Host... you’re only on your first day back... and you’ve already been locked up. Your ever-growing bad reputation is beginning to reflect on me as your System. So please... change your ways. You’re embarrassing me."
Hearing that, Liyu only grinned as he shook his head; and why should he care about that? Besides... he couldn’t really call this place a prison... it was more like a holding cell...
Damn. Those two sounded pretty similar. One might wonder why he was locked up despite being the heir; who was he kidding? Everyone in the entire clan already knew he had been locked up, along with the reason behind it.
In fact, Liyu was more than certain that his case had already reached the ears of the Clan Lord by now. Liyu sighed; maybe the System was right... perhaps he should’ve used today to simply rest.
He couldn’t believe that the moment he returned home... he was already waiting for a trial. A small mocking smile touched Liyu’s lips. The System was right: he really did need to start building a good reputation instead of constantly earning a bad one.
Who knew... maybe he should build both a good reputation and a bad one to create some sort of balance. Feeling his mood become slightly ruined, Liyu stored the more than one hundred gold coins inside his System Space; he would think about what to use them for later.
Liyu lay flat on his bed, staring quietly at the painted ceiling above with a calm expression.
Sincerely... he still had a lot of things to do. He wanted to obtain a cultivation technique; he also wanted to learn the proper method of breaking through into the Qi Gathering Realm so he could continue advancing his cultivation.
That was an important part of his plan. Also... the plan of finding the Clan Treasury still hadn’t left his mind; he was definitely going to find that vault. Not because he wanted to rob the clan... no... not at all.
Why would he ever do something so vile? It was simply that, as the heir, he naturally needed to know where the treasury was located, you know... for good and future purposes.
Thinking such dangerous thoughts that would probably earn him a severe beating if any of the clan elders ever found out, the System, which had remained silent for the past few minutes, suddenly spoke once more.
"Hey, Host... instead of thinking about what will land you in another round of overwhelming trouble... I would urge you to first settle the one you’re already under. At least solve one problem before jumping into another."
Liyu frowned; who said he wanted to get himself into trouble? The System made it sound as though he loved causing trouble... which simply wasn’t true.
He was a peace-loving monk after all; sure... he might break a few bones if someone offended him, but that was about it. He was practically the perfect holy monk.
"Calm down, Sys. You’re taking this way too seriously. I know the Clan Lord well, and he is super kind. I won’t be punished. How could he possibly punish his long-lost favorite boy?
Of course he’ll let me go scot-free. It’s not as if I was the one who started the whole thing anyway." He paused. "Well... maybe I did. But still... I’m not really the one at fault here. He’ll surely let me go." He thought with a bright smile.
"I can’t wait to meet him." Liyu thought inwardly, a grin spreading across his face.
But just then... an unpleasant memory from the original Liyu’s past suddenly surfaced, forcefully dragging his cheerful thoughts away. It was none other than a series of nerve-wracking punishments.. they had been brutal.
So unbelievably brutal that even Rayden felt a shiver run down his spine the moment those memories resurfaced.
The original Liyu had been just as stubborn as the current Rayden occupying his body. During his childhood... he had been considered the number one troublesome brat in the entire Night Region; he had done countless things worthy of punishment.
And yet... time and time again... his kind and loving uncle had forgiven him. Because of that, he became bolder and bolder; he continued doing even more outrageous things, relying on his good fortune over and over again.
Well... that lasted only until the day his luck finally ran out. That was when he saw the other side hidden behind his uncle’s pleasant and gentle smile; behind that smile... lurked something that had truly traumatized the original Liyu.
Li San had finally had enough of Liyu’s troublesome behavior, so he decided to personally punish him; and those punishments... they were something that even the most hardened criminals wouldn’t want to undergo.
Strangely enough, they didn’t include any beating of any sort. Yet... Liyu was so thoroughly traumatized by that experience that his rough and stubborn personality underwent a complete one-hundred-and-eighty-degree change.
He became the perfect child after going through that punishment.
That alone showed one thing: no matter how calm and loving the Clan Lord appeared on the surface... hidden behind that gentle face was another side... one that was far, far more terrifying.
And after remembering all that, Liyu couldn’t help but shiver as he imagined what kind of punishment might be waiting for him this time. "I take back what I said earlier... I really don’t want to meet my uncle anymore." He muttered before gulping nervously.
But as if fate itself was personally mocking him... the door to the holding room suddenly opened. A disciple at the First Stage of the Qi Gathering Realm walked inside; he gave Liyu a small respectful bow before dropping a bombshell: "The Clan Lord has summoned you."
Liyu’s expression instantly changed. "I’m cooked... aren’t I?" He couldn’t help but think. Naturally, no one answered his thoughts... well... except for his System. "Yes, Host. I can assure you... you are very, very cooked."
----------------------
"Oh my..." Elder Jushong, the Grand Physician of the Li Clan, was completely stupefied when he saw the number of disciples lying inside the infirmary.
Every single one of them seemed to be standing at death’s door; several of his own disciples, whom he had personally taught spirit medicine and who were more than qualified to call themselves Spirit Physicians, were rushing around treating them.
Every one of the injured disciples had faces swollen beyond recognition. "What kind of monster did they fight to end up like this?" Elder Jushong couldn’t help but ask one of his disciples, who had just finished saving yet another victim of the Divine Slap.
The young physician wiped the sweat from his forehead before slowly shaking his head. "Sir... the one who did this wasn’t a monster. Neither was it a beast." Elder Jushong frowned. "Then what caused all this?"
The young man gulped slightly, as though merely saying the answer terrified him. "Based on the information I’ve gathered... Young Master Yu... the heir... he did all this."
Elder Jushong froze in place. Slowly... he turned to look at the young physician. "What? You mean that Liyu... that kid... overpowered more than a hundred disciples by himself and sent every one of them into the infirmary?
Where is the kid? He must be badly injured, right? Take me to the ward where he’s being treated. I’ll personally heal him." The old man hurriedly said; after all... he had always doted on the brat. However... the disciple didn’t move. Instead, he simply stood there awkwardly, looking as though he didn’t know how to continue.
After a long while... he finally forced the words out: "Sir..." He paused again; even he found it difficult to believe what he was about to say. "What is it?" The old man asked, now growing worried.
"Is he badly injured? Is he at death’s door? Then don’t waste any more time! Take me to him immediately!"
The disciple slowly shook his head; his expression was incredibly complicated. "No, Sir. That isn’t what happened." He paused once more, organizing his thoughts before continuing. "Actually... he wasn’t injured at all. The battle didn’t leave even a single wound on him."
The old man froze. "What? Not injured at all? After battling over a hundred well-trained disciples? Most of them had already reached the late stages of Body Refinement.
And you’re asking me to believe that Liyu... the boy who was only recently rumored to have undergone a reawakening... Heck... the kid should still only be around the First or Second Stage of Body Refinement... And yet he defeated every single one of them?"
The old man stared deeply into the disciple’s face, searching for any sign of deceit. Yet... all he saw was a sincere expression filled with disbelief and disturbance; the young man himself was still trembling from the shock.
"Tell me everything." Elder Jushong said as he walked toward the Grand Physician’s chamber inside the infirmary.
A while later...
The old man collapsed into his chair, his knees feeling weak from the overwhelming shock. "So... you mean to tell me... not only did he overpower all of them... but he pushed every single one of them to death’s door... using nothing but a single slap?"
The disciple nodded; even now, his own mind couldn’t comprehend how such a thing was even possible. The old man’s face remained blank.
"And you’re also telling me... that the rumors about his reawakening were true... and within just a single month... he has already reached the very peak of the Body Refinement Realm?"
The disciple nodded once again, his legs weakening slightly; his entire worldview was being overturned by this news. "And that isn’t even the end of it. He fought over a hundred cultivators at the same cultivation realm... and none of them were able to leave even a single mark on him.
Instead... he sent every single one of them into the infirmary... with just one slap." The old man slowly shook his head. Then... he suddenly burst into laughter.
The disciple looked at him in alarm.... was the elder losing his mind? "Elder... are you alright?" He asked worriedly. The old man shook his head before nodding. "Don’t worry. You may leave. I understand now."
The disciple respectfully nodded before leaving. The old man continued chuckling for a long while before finally stopping; a single tear rolled down the corner of his eye. But... it wasn’t a tear of pain. It was one of pure happiness.
"That kid... he finally did it. Finally... he can live the life he truly wanted... without being crushed beneath the scorn and guilt of others." The old man couldn’t help but smile; he truly was happy.
"That’s good..." He sighed softly before another thought entered his mind. "Li San must be even more overjoyed after hearing this. After all... he has always cared deeply for that child." The old man paused before rubbing his forehead.
"Everything that has advantages... will surely have disadvantages. And Liyu’s disadvantage is already becoming very obvious. That kid was already troublesome even before he could cultivate."
But now... now that he has become an incredibly powerful cultivator... the old man could only imagine... just what kind of unimaginable trouble that little brat would end up causing this time around.

Hey everyone!
It’s me again... your gentle author, Ultra!
First of all... I owe you all an apology.
No matter how hard I tried, my PC refused to cooperate and successfully used its legendary Lag Domain against me. It slowed me down so much that I could only upload one Chapter today instead of the usual two.
Honestly, it bugs me more than it probably bugs you guys. Every time I miss my schedule, I feel like I’ve let you all down, so if you’re disappointed, you truly have my sincere apology.
Now for the good news!
I finally managed to drag my rebellious PC to the repair shop. Unfortunately... the repair bill looked at my wallet and chose violence. My poor wallet is currently lying in the ICU, asking me why I betrayed it.
Still, there wasn’t much of a choice. A healthy PC means more Chapters, and more Chapters mean happier readers.
If everything goes as planned, the repair should be finished today, and starting tomorrow, we’ll be back to two Chapters a day!
Thank you all for sticking with me despite these unexpected delays. Every comment, vote, review, and gift genuinely motivates me to keep pushing forward. Seeing your support reminds me why I stay up late planning Chapters and plotting the next crazy twist.
Now if you’ll excuse me... I’m going to check whether my wallet still has a pulse.
Your gentle author,
Ultra
