Chapter 78
Li Yu slowly rose from his bed and lazily stretched his body; sincerely, he had enjoyed an incredibly good sleep, and even better, he had an even greater dream.
In that dream, he had supposedly reached the Supreme Immortal God Realm, becoming the only being in existence to ever attain such a level. Naturally, having become the strongest being alive, he decided to embark on missions... his missions? To cause absolute chaos.
Alongside his infinite clones, the amount of destruction they created was simply endless: they looted entire worlds, destroyed a few of them just because they felt like it, and even turned countless rulers into their own loyal subordinates.
Soon enough, the Heavenly Armies joined forces with the Demon Lords of Hell; apparently, those eternal enemies had both grown tired and completely fed up with Li Yu’s endless nonsense, so they decided to unite and stop him once and for all.
As for him, well, being himself, he simply defeated every single one of them by uttering a few aura-farming lines here and there.
The moment those words left his mouth, they all dropped like flies. In short, he had an absolutely wonderful dream... a dream he honestly wished he had never woken up from. But alas, nothing that good lasts forever.
Li Yu smiled before gently patting the bed beside him. The bed was unbelievably soft, fluffy, and incredibly comfortable; there was no doubt in his mind that it was one of the biggest reasons he had slept so well.
If someone had told him back on Earth that sleeping on a proper bed instead of a rocky surface could make someone start the day in such a cheerful mood, he would probably have argued with them.
Now, he completely believed it. After rubbing the remaining traces of sleep from his eyes and finally waking himself up properly, he headed toward the bathhouse.
Unlike the bathrooms back on Earth, the bathhouse here was rather unique: on one side stood a massive wooden bathing pool, and on another side was the changing room. After changing into a towel, he stepped into the bath; beside the pool rested several differently colored crystals... blue, red, and green.
Based on Li Yu’s memories, pressing the red crystal would unleash an enormous torrent of extremely hot water... the temperature could even be adjusted by rotating the crystal.
As for the blue crystal, it was the complete opposite; the moment it was activated, a freezing torrent of icy water would come crashing down upon the bather.
Normally, an ordinary person would either be cooked alive by the scorching water or frozen solid by the icy one; however, for cultivators, it served as a miniature form of body refinement... not particularly dangerous, and after enough practice, one would gradually grow accustomed to it.
The final crystal, the green one, was simply for ordinary bathing; it was the one the original Li Yu had always used, after all, he couldn’t use either the hot or cold versions, as they would have literally cooked or frozen him to death.
Liyu, however, was genuinely curious; he wanted to see what would happen. Without hesitation, he pressed the red crystal. A massive torrent of boiling water immediately poured down from the circular structure overhead, slamming mercilessly onto Li Yu’s body, and large clouds of steam instantly rose into the air.
It was indeed hot... very hot... yet Li Yu barely felt anything. Wasn’t this supposed to be painfully unbearable the very first time someone tried it? He had to admit, he felt a little disappointed, so he immediately switched to the blue crystal.
An equally violent torrent of freezing water came crashing down; the result was exactly the same. It was certainly cold, but nowhere near cold enough to freeze even a single strand of hair on his head, let alone freeze his entire body.
After letting out a disappointed sigh because he couldn’t experience the pain he had expected, he simply finished washing himself using the hot water.
Soon afterward, he stepped out of the bath. Putting on his favorite outfit... the anime-inspired clothing he had purchased from the System Store... he finally left his room.
His first destination was naturally the dining hall; that was where every member of the Li Clan gathered to eat. Of course, as the Young Master, he could simply order someone to bring the food directly to his room, but why would he do that?
Besides, he had another reason for coming here: he wanted to see whether people’s attitudes had changed compared to the previous day.
And behold, they really had. Every servant and maid he encountered on his way toward the dining hall looked at him with unmistakable wariness; after all, the news of him nearly killing over a hundred Body Refinement cultivators with nothing more than a single Divine Slap had already spread throughout the entire manor like wildfire.
If one ordinary slap from him had nearly ended the life of a Peak Body Refinement cultivator, then they could only imagine just how dead they would become if he ever decided to slap them as well.
Li Yu simply smiled warmly and waved at everyone he passed; the servants hurriedly bowed respectfully before almost running away. In just a single day, he had managed to completely change the opinions of nearly every maid and servant within the manor.
Although there were still a few individuals who continued looking at him with scorn and hatred... most of them were cultivators who hadn’t personally witnessed yesterday’s incident with their own eyes... Li Yu wasn’t the least bit concerned about their rebellious gazes.
Instead, he calmly entered the dining hall. After ordering an amount of food so enormous that the waiter taking his order stood there frozen in complete silence, he casually walked toward an empty table and took a seat. His expression remained calm and composed.
Not long afterward, his sharp hearing caught bits and pieces of the conversations happening around the hall: "That’s him, right?" "Yeah... that’s definitely him."
"Did you hear what he did yesterday?" "Of course. I don’t think there’s anyone in the manor who hasn’t heard about it by now." "He actually managed to send over a hundred Body Refinement cultivators to the infirmary with nothing more than an ordinary slap."
"I have to admit, he’s really impressive." "Yeah, I agree; he is pretty impressive and has probably become far less useless, but sadly, he’s going to get his ass handed to him today by Brother Bao."
"Wait... you mean that second rumor about him dueling Brother Bao for the final spot in the Selection Tournament is true as well?" "Where have you been living? Of course it’s true. Not only that, I heard they’ll be fighting at the training grounds this afternoon."
"What a pity; I was honestly beginning to root for him, but there’s simply no way he’ll be able to defeat the Li Flash."
More and more conversations regarding the upcoming duel continued spreading throughout the dining hall. From everyone’s comments, it was obvious that Li Yu wasn’t the favored one to win; in fact, almost every single person believed he was going to lose, and not just lose.... but lose badly.
Li Yu, however, had something entirely different to say about their delusions; in fact, he had almost forgotten that he even had a duel today. It couldn’t really be helped. At first, Li Yu had actually been rather excited... after all, he thought he was finally going to battle someone truly strong.
But the moment he learned that his opponent was merely at the Third Stage of the Qi Gathering Realm, he instantly lost interest. There was no need for a battle to tell him the outcome; he already knew he was going to win, and with very little difficulty as well.
Still, since the Clan Lord had personally told him to win and promised him a reward, he intended to do exactly that. Who knew, perhaps this victory would earn even more of the Clan Lord’s trust, and if that happened, he might finally be allowed access to the clan’s treasure vault; right now, that was the reward he desired the most.
Li Flash, or even Li Sonic, it honestly didn’t matter to Li Yu. He had already grown far beyond the limits of ordinary Qi Gathering cultivators; only those at the Late, or perhaps Peak Qi Refinement Realm, were worthy of being taken seriously by him now.
Soon, his food finally arrived. The crowd immediately fell silent; every single one of them stared at the mountain of food placed before Li Yu. They genuinely wanted to see whether it was even possible for a human being to eat that much.
Where exactly was he planning to put all of it? Surely he was simply being greedy; there was absolutely no way he could finish everything. Yet, before those thoughts had even fully formed in their minds, Li Yu had already begun eating.
Large portions of food disappeared at an unbelievable speed; plate after plate vanished almost every second. It eventually reached the point where the surrounding crowd became far too stunned to even continue talking. "H-How is that even possible...?"
A while later, Li Yu calmly finished the last bite. He stood up and casually walked out of the dining hall, leaving behind yet another rumor for the entire manor to spread:
the Li Clan’s Young Master had apparently become a gluttonous monster capable of devouring everything in his path.
-----------
Li Yu decided to take a leisurely stroll around the manor. Normally, Yuexin, Li Feng, or the two brothers would have accompanied him, but all four of them had been locked away to cultivate diligently in hopes of breaking through before the Selection Tournament.
How did he know that? Simple. Yuexin had personally told him the previous night before she left. The two of them had chatted for quite a while, and during their conversation, she couldn’t hide the worry on her face regarding today’s duel.
She genuinely believed he would struggle to defeat Li Bao. Li Yu couldn’t help but find it amusing; after all, he couldn’t really blame them.
None of them had truly seen what he was capable of... well, technically they had witnessed it once, but none of them actually believed him. Once he defeated this so-called Li Flash with a single move, they would all have no choice but to believe.
No matter where Li Yu walked, people were still discussing the upcoming duel: "It’s him. He’s definitely going to get his ass handed to him." "I can’t believe he actually agreed to challenge the Flash; he’s really asking to be humiliated."
"What a shame; I guess we’ll all get to watch him get beaten up this afternoon." Of course, most of the people saying those words were among those who had lost face yesterday; technically speaking, their faces were still swollen from Li Yu’s slap.
Not only had they lost face, they had also lost a considerable amount of money; naturally, they were filled with resentment.
Although Li Yu wasn’t angered by their words... which practically screamed that they believed he would lose miserably... he still found himself looking forward to facing this so-called Li Flash. Hopefully, the guy wasn’t too weak.
After some time passed, it was soon midday. Every member of the Li Clan had gathered; from the servants and maids, to the disciples, and finally the true blood members of the clan, everyone was present.
Even the elders, along with the Clan Lord himself, had arrived to witness the duel. Standing on opposite ends of the arena was Li Yu, and on the other side stood the so-called Li Flash.
Li Bao was dressed in a simple black-and-red training attire; his hair wasn’t particularly long, only slightly longer than short; his face remained calm and composed as he looked directly at Li Yu.
The rules of the duel were soon announced: the two contestants were to fight, but killing was strictly forbidden. The loser would be the one knocked unconscious or rendered unable to continue fighting; as for the winner, they would earn one of the five positions representing the Li Clan in the upcoming Selection Tournament.
Naturally, being the stronger one... or at least believing himself to be... Li Bao gestured toward the nearby weapon rack: "You should choose a weapon." However, Li Yu merely shook his head: "I’m better with my hands."
Li Bao raised an eyebrow. Did this fellow really want to lose that badly? And that quickly? He couldn’t help but snort inwardly; after all, he was trying to preserve a little of Li Yu’s dignity.
There was a huge crowd watching them right now; if Li Yu lost too quickly, his reputation would suffer greatly. "Very well, if that’s what you want, come. I’ll even give you the first move; if you can defeat me within seven moves, I’ll gladly hand you the victory."
Hearing those words, Li Yu slowly raised an eyebrow. This idiot really had no idea who he was challenging. "Are you sure about that? Because I won’t even need ten moves; one is enough to defeat you." His calm voice echoed throughout the arena.
The surrounding crowd immediately gasped in disbelief; they couldn’t believe the sheer confidence, or perhaps arrogance, contained within those words.
Li Bao’s eyes flashed with menace for the briefest of moments before he smiled once again: "You’ve never fought me before, so what exactly gives you the confidence to believe you can defeat me in a single move?" His tone remained calm, yet it was obvious he had been offended.
Li Yu, however, couldn’t care less whether Li Bao was annoyed or not; he simply raised an eyebrow before replying: "But you’ve never fought me either, so why are you so certain that you won’t go down in a single move?"
The corner of Li Bao’s mouth twitched. He smiled once again before nodding: "Fine, come then. Take me down in one move and prove that you’re not just bluf... " He never got the chance to finish his sentence.
Before he had even completed a single blink, a hand had already wrapped tightly around his head. Everything happened so unbelievably fast that his mind couldn’t even process what was occurring.
The corners of Li Yu’s mouth slowly curled upward: "You talk too much." The moment those words fell, he slammed Li Bao’s head directly into the arena floor. Boom! A deafening explosion echoed throughout the training grounds; cracks spread across the stage like a giant spiderweb.
Li Yu had carefully controlled his strength; otherwise, the fool’s skull would have shattered instantly. Li Yu slowly released his grip before standing upright. Li Bao didn’t; he remained lying face-first on the stage, completely unconscious.
The entire arena fell into absolute silence. Li Yu couldn’t help but smile before calmly saying, "What do you know... the Li Flash was taken out in a flash. Such irony."
