Chapter 1271 - 1271: Useless Rival

Because Lin Feng had just gone through this house.

He'd found that inside the house, the only door that could let someone leave was the front door.

Other than that, there was nobody else anywhere, so what the hell was going on? Seeing the curious look on his face…

The guy had actually already been thinking about this in his heart, since he didn't come to this little villa very often.

He'd only been here last time when he came to take this job, when Zhang Kaitian told him to come over, so when Lin Feng asked this question, he got really nervous inside.

He didn't know if he'd get dealt with if he didn't answer, so while he hesitated, he was also trembling.

Lin Feng glanced at him, then said a bit impatiently, "You don't need to be scared. If you know, just say it. If you don't, then there's another task I need you to do."

Lin Feng nodded to show he understood. Actually, from the way the other guy had been about to say something but held back just now, he'd already vaguely guessed it.

Now he was just confirming it. So Lin Feng could accept that answer, but then he picked up the shovel at his feet and tossed it to him.

"Now you're going to do the second task: help me smash open every closed door in the rooms."

"That bastard Zhang Kaitian actually shut all the doors while he was hiding from me."

Hearing him say that, he pretty much understood that Lin Feng wanted all those doors opened to see if there were any important clues inside.

But the Tattooed Man still didn't know what exactly he was looking for; he could only do as he was told.

"…Okay, okay, I'll take this shovel and go clear all the obstacles inside for you."

After he said that, he trotted inside with the shovel, because he knew if he stayed here…

Big Guy might assign him an even more important task that he might not be able to handle; better to just accept his fate, grab the shovel, and run in to smash doors.

Of course, the entire scene in the rooms had already been streamed by the security system onto his projection monitors.

Seeing all this, he gave a cold little laugh.

"Those two idiots, they really think that after they smash the doors open they're definitely going to see me? All those files have already been destroyed by me. Even if they find them, so what? They'll never be able to restore them to how they were, and the restoration process is insanely hard."

After saying that, he sneered even more, so he wasn't worried at all that Lin Feng and the Tattooed Man would smash down all the doors he'd shut.

Right now, Zhang Kaitian was in a great mood; he even wanted to put on a song to celebrate this glorious moment.

It was just that the situation didn't allow it right now, so he was already prepared to run at any time, and fifteen minutes had already passed.

It probably wasn't even halfway yet before those people on his phone would get up here and desperately help him stall for time, and then he could escape this place.

Apparently Lin Feng had already found this place.

Right now he was still waiting for his men to get here, but it would be at least another ten minutes before they arrived.

What was he supposed to do now to hold off Lin Feng breaking in?

He thought it over, but still couldn't come up with any good idea.

So now he only had one option left: try to negotiate with Lin Feng. If he could pull that off, then he could stall for a while— even if it was just a few minutes, it'd be worth it.

That way, at the very least Lin Feng could buy himself more time, wait for his men to come save him, so he walked straight toward the door and spoke coldly to Lin Feng outside.

"Stop knocking, I'm right in here."

As soon as he said that, Lin Feng really did stop, probably not expecting him to expose himself like that.

At this moment Lin Feng also put down his tools, then said icily, "I already knew you were inside. Just now I noticed this place has surveillance cameras, so I figured the person I'm looking for had to be behind this door. Looks like I was right."

Inside the room, Zhang Kaitian let out two cold laughs.

He felt that Lin Feng must really be itching to see him make a fool of himself. They'd only met three times.

But he understood very clearly that Lin Feng was a major rival, and a very ambitious man, just like himself.

Now they were talking with a door between them, and he wanted even more to let Lin Feng know he wasn't some useless rival.

So he said, "You brought your woman back here because you want to take revenge on me, is that it?"

Lin Feng chuckled. "Well what else? You hit my woman, and I'm supposed to be grateful to you?"

"What's wrong with teaching you a lesson?"

he thought for a moment, then said, "Lin Feng, you really are impressive, but you're still too young, too green. I know everything you're doing now is just to go up against my company."

"But have you thought about this—after you wipe out my company, there'll still be other companies lining up to compete with you. Why not keep me around? That way I can help you tie up those other companies."

"Then even if you're aiming for the number one spot, it's not like it would be impossible."

Lin Feng heard that and burst out laughing, a loud "hahaha" coming from outside, like he'd just heard some ridiculous joke.

From the sound of it, that made Zhang Kaitian inside feel extremely awkward, because he knew exactly why he'd said all that.

It was nothing but an attempt to stall Lin Feng for time and a deliberate show of submission, but to Lin Feng it probably sounded utterly laughable.

Sure enough.

Lin Feng answered.

"Tell me, Zhang Kaitian, are you sick in the head? Is there something wrong with your brain?"

"You actually think a successful entrepreneur like me would be interested in letting you play the pawn in front of me?"

"You? You haven't earned that qualification."

He'd thought Lin Feng would at most just reject him, but to mock him to his face like that was really going too far.

He was still a CEO of a company, for god's sake, yet he was being ridiculed like this, so he got irritable and snapped at the man outside the door.

"Lin Feng, I advise you not to be so blind. You really think I have no way to deal with you? It's just that I haven't bothered. Of course, if you could let me off the hook just this once, I could treat it as you giving me a chance."

"In the future, if I develop any new products, I'm not saying I couldn't share the data with you. That could count as a form of cooperation between us, how about that?"

Lin Feng rejected him outright. "Not interested. Your proposal doesn't tempt me in the slightest."

Hearing that, Zhang Kaitian almost wanted to tear his hair out; he hadn't expected Lin Feng to be so ungrateful.

He'd offered such a good deal and Lin Feng still wouldn't accept.

Sure, he himself knew it was all fake, but if he said something like that to any other business rival,

the other party would at least be willing to believe him a little and give him a chance to negotiate. But Lin Feng wouldn't. That just showed how firm Lin Feng's mindset was, and it was precisely because of this.

That Lin Feng really could become a business figure he'd never be able to reach. He thought about how ever since graduating college he'd always been one of the top people in the industry.

Yet now he was taking a hit from someone like Lin Feng, and it exhausted him mentally; he was unwilling to accept it, truly unwilling.

Which was why he'd had his people use every possible method to steal data out of Lin Feng's lab storage.

By now, even though that data had already been transferred overseas,

he still had no intention of telling Lin Feng, because he knew that even if he did, so what?

At most it would just give Lin Feng a quicker shot at destroying that foreign Dr. Nathan, along with his backing and the pharmaceutical conglomerate he served.

On top of that, he had another plan now, which was to take the data he'd obtained before and pass another portion of it directly to one of Lin Feng's other rival companies.

Because that would give Lin Feng more enemies. That was his way of "aspiring" against Lin Feng.

But Lin Feng outside knew nothing of this.

All he knew was that he really had to catch Zhang Kaitian and give him a good beating, to avenge his wife.

And even if he did find out what the other man was plotting, he'd probably just laugh it off.
