Chapter 1285 - 1285: A Fruitless Trip

Seeing Lisa looking so pitiful.

Zhang Kaitian wasn't completely heartless either. He felt that this woman had accompanied him for so many years and more or less had a handle on some of his information. If he really pushed her to the point of mutual destruction, that wouldn't be good, so he said:

"Get up. If something like this happens again, you should know what to do yourself."

Lisa was extremely grateful. She climbed up from the floor, a bit shy and fidgety, and said to Zhang Kaitian with gratitude, "Thank you, boss, thank you, boss. I will definitely remember today's punishment. I won't make this kind of mistake again. Boss, thank you for giving me another chance."

Looking at her with her head bowed admitting fault, although Zhang Kaitian didn't believe her, he believed one thing: as long as he knew how to handle this woman.

Then he could keep her working for him, and that was enough, so he nodded and said,

"Alright, I won't bother arguing with you. There's something I need you to do now. If you can do it well, then when I'm discharged from the hospital, I'll give you a reward."

After he finished saying this.

She nodded, then said to Zhang Kaitian with a fawning look, "Director Zhang, as long as you're willing to forgive me, I'll do whatever you ask."

After she said that, her face turned a bit red; it looked like she had already made some kind of mental preparation.

But Zhang Kaitian had absolutely no interest in that right now, so he shook his head and said, "What I'm having you do now is a very proper matter. Don't go thinking about anything else with me."

After he said this, her face flushed, and she realized she'd said the wrong thing, so she nodded and said:

"Alright, Director Zhang, I understand."

Then Zhang Kaitian called her over to one side and asked her, "You should know I used to live with my father, and this time I accidentally got news of him. Turns out he was working in Lin Feng's laboratory, and because he helped me get revenge this time, he was discovered by Lin Feng and kicked out."

"But he probably never planned on coming back anyway. Alright, you don't need to know too much about all that. What you need to do now is help me bring that old man back, and tell him his son will treat him well with filial piety. He doesn't need to keep bowing and scraping at Lin Feng's place. If he doesn't want to come back, then forget it."

It was obvious that Zhang Kaitian still had some feelings for his father.

It was just that because his father hadn't given him anything good in the past, he'd always felt he could take him or leave him.

Now his main goal was to bring him back and let him enjoy some family happiness, because his achievements now were completely different from decades ago. He hadn't held it against his old man for abandoning his wife and child and walking out on the family decades ago.

Leaving him alone behind, only showing up again now. So he felt that everything he was doing was enough to make up for the father‑son bond his father owed him. If he still couldn't get his father back,

then he was prepared to give up. After hearing this, Lisa nodded, then stood up:

"Don't worry, boss, I'll definitely get this done properly."

After she said that, she was shooed out by Zhang Kaitian, because now he wanted to be alone and didn't want to reminisce about the past with Lisa.

After she left, Lisa stood in the elevator, silently thinking about everything that had just happened. That was close—if she had been a bit slower to admit fault, the outcome now would probably not be what it was.

He figured the only reason he spared her was because she had served him for so many years; otherwise, who knew what the result would be now?

She let out a sigh of relief, while silently thinking about how Director Zhang's father had abandoned him twenty years ago, only to suddenly reappear now, and on top of that working at Lin Feng's side. Could such a person really be trusted?

She couldn't honestly say she trusted him, nor could she guarantee she'd bring him back. Might as well not bring him back at all and instead frame things on Zhang Kaitian's father.

She'd say that everything he'd done was indeed for Lin Feng, that he didn't take Zhang Kaitian seriously at all, and had long forgotten this son. Saying it like that would definitely make Zhang Kaitian furious. Lisa curled up the corner of her mouth.

The person she hated most right now was that Detective, so anyone connected to the Detective, she hated too. Lin Feng was the Detective's boss, and on top of that, Zhang Kaitian's dad also worked for Lin Feng's company.

To her, this was one link hooking onto another. Anyone she could take revenge on, she would never show mercy. Besides, that old guy had chosen to work for Lin Feng and wouldn't come help his own son anyway.

So why let Zhang Kaitian be so obsessed with this father who didn't care about him at all? Lisa felt there was nothing wrong with her thinking; she felt she was helping Zhang Kaitian make this decision.

So she hailed a car, then drove off to look for the old man. Just now, Zhang Kaitian had given her the address: she could find Zhang Kaitian's father in a research building under Lin Feng's banner.

After she got there, she would of course need to relay what Zhang Kaitian had said, but she definitely wouldn't tell it straight. With that thought, she already felt confident.

When she arrived outside Lin Feng's company, she stopped the car and said to the security guard, "I'm here to find someone. Hurry up and let me through."

But the security guard, seeing that she was dressed quite expensively but had a bad temper, shook his head and said,

"I'm sorry, miss, but this place only allows people who work here and have proper ID to go in. No matter who you're here to see, even if you're here for the boss, you still have to show your own ID."

"Otherwise, only someone from the boss's side can bring you in. We can't just let you through."

After he said that, Lisa was unhappy and snapped at him, "Do you know how much I make in an hour? A security guard like you isn't even qualified to compare with me. If my time gets wasted, and I tell you to compensate me, can you afford it?"

"You couldn't afford even a single day of my time."

After she said that, the security guard was furious. He was only trying to do his job, and he got cursed out like a dog in return. A woman like this was truly disgusting.

So he said viciously,

"Listen, miss, if you don't leave, we're done talking to you. You want to shout, go shout somewhere else."

After saying that, he actually turned around and walked off, stewing in anger.

But he had nowhere to vent it on anyone else, so he could only bottle it up and wait quietly there.

He figured when people got off work from inside, he'd find a way to slip in. As long as she could see Zhang Kaitian's father, then she could prove her identity. Just like that, Lisa waited all the way until the afternoon.

The security guard saw that she had really been waiting there for so long without leaving and thought she really might be here for someone important.

The guard said to her, "If you want to go in, then go in, but you have to show me your ID first."

Hearing the guard say that, she realized she had no other option and could only show him her ID. But when the guard heard just now that the person she wanted to see was the Old Doctor,

he had already started calculating in his heart. This woman basically didn't regard people in his line of work as humans, so why should he look out for her?

So what if he didn't tell her the real situation? At worst she'd just make a trip for nothing, right?

So he only glanced casually at her ID, then said to her,

"Go on in then. But I'm saying this upfront: if you're not out within half an hour, I'll have to kick you out."
