My Cultivation Has a Progress Bar

Chapter 678: Ao Hong's Idea

  • Next Chapter

The Third Realm Star God was clearly trying to self-destruct. The black energy surging around him gathered toward the Star God Core inside his body. Just as the energy was about to overload, the immense aura flaring from his body suddenly vanished without a trace.

“You…”

His resentful eyes glared at Wang Ping, and then all signs of life left him.

Wang Ping had just used the Luck-Borrowing Talisman and the Heaven-Covering Talisman to easily sever the Star God’s lifeline in this world. Without that lifeline, the surging energy could not converge. This method allowed him to preserve the Star God Core and memories within the body.

“His memories will disappear soon!”

Wang Ping reminded Buqiong, his gaze falling on the dead Star God’s bisected torso. This man possessed something that Zhongzhou Cultivators lacked: a reverence for something or someone, or perhaps a mission more important than his own life.

After a few moments of silence, Buqiong used the Soul Searching Technique to probe the Star God’s memories. In the end, she shook her head regretfully. “He used his last ounce of instinct to wipe his memories clean as he died.”

“That requires an incredible amount of conviction!”

Wang Ping remarked, raising an eyebrow.

Buqiong murmured, “Every warrior in the Alliance has that much conviction.”

As she spoke, she extended her left hand. Her hand plunged into the Star God Cultivator’s chest like a blade and pulled out the Star God Core. Afterward, the bisected torso seemed to turn into a pile of metallic shards and dissipate in the wind.

Wang Ping stared at the Star God Core in Buqiong’s hand. He couldn’t help but recall his plan to create a puppet modeled after the body of his grand-disciple, Zhao Yu’Er. He had planned to place the puppet’s core in its heart, but he had never found a suitable replacement for the organ. Now, looking at the Star God Core in Buqiong’s hand, an idea struck him.

“Fellow Daoist, are you interested in this?”

Buqiong turned to speak, but upon seeing the look on Wang Ping’s face, she asked her question.

Wang Ping told her the truth.

“Since you need it, Fellow Daoist, then take it. But a Star God Core can’t be reused indefinitely. It has its own internal power source. If you can’t successfully integrate with it before its energy is depleted, it will become useless.”

“Thank you!”

Wang Ping accepted the core from Buqiong.

Yu Lian immediately coiled down Wang Ping’s arm to his wrist to get a closer look at the Star God Core. Then, she spoke in his mind, ‘It has a faint power. Its aura is similar to your Heaven-Reaching Talisman. It seems to have some kind of resonance with the Cosmos.’

But when Wang Ping sent his Primordial Spirit into the core’s interior, he was stunned. He discovered that this thing was a science-fiction-like creation. It used the fundamental laws of the Cosmos to perform calculations in order to control a specific kind of special power.

A few moments later, a glowing panel appeared before Wang Ping’s eyes:

[Stellar Resonator: An auxiliary tool created by an unknown civilization to more rapidly develop newly discovered star systems. It was designed by imitating the miraculous Magic born from cultivating the Five Elements Yin Yang Secret Method, and later evolved into its own cultivation system.]

[1. Master the fundamental physical laws of the Cosmos (Progress: 1/100).]

[2. Use fundamental physical laws to calculate the formation process of Magic.]

[3. Simulate the formation process of Magic to calculate the optimal solution.]

[4. Construct a Magic model capable of resonating with the laws of this Cosmos, then place the model under the starry sky and wait for it to capture one of the Cosmos’s laws.]

[Note 1: Do not manually interfere with any part of the capture process.]

[Note 2: Simulating the model diagram requires sufficient knowledge reserves. (Progress: 0/100).]

After reading the information on the glowing panel, Wang Ping instantly thought of the brilliant civilizations he had seen when he merged with the Locust Tree Divine Soul. ‘Those were also worlds of Cultivators, but the civilizations in those worlds had studied the process of cultivation to its absolute limit.’

‘Unfortunately, such a civilization was already destroyed!’

“What’s wrong?”

Yu Lian’s voice sounded by Wang Ping’s ear.

Wang Ping chuckled to himself and put away the Star God Core. At that moment, Buqiong was enveloped in a state of darkness, controlling the boundless shadows of the Cosmos to help her scan the surrounding starry sky.

Ao Hong, meanwhile, was gazing with great interest at the extraterrestrial object he had just sealed. He even pinched off a piece of the fleshy tumor and kneaded it in his hand. Noticing Wang Ping’s gaze, he laughed and said, “It’s infinitely close to a human body, but only close. It has no muscles or meridians, so it can only be a disgusting tumor.”

“Maybe if it grows for a while longer, it can form a real physical body?”

Yu Lian said quietly.

Ao Hong’s eyes lit up at her words. He looked at Yu Lian and said, “Great idea!” With that, he put away the ice-sealed tumor, a look of eager anticipation on his face.

At this point, Buqiong returned to her normal state. She looked at Wang Ping and Ao Hong and said, “There’s no trace of any other Cultivators. It seems he was just a scout. But for them to dare target the Moon Base, they must have some kind of backing.”

“Let’s head back first. Leave this to me. I’ll send my disciples to investigate thoroughly.”

With a word, she flew off toward the moon.

Wang Ping and Ao Hong naturally followed.

Nothing had changed at the Moon Base. After the extraterrestrial threat was eliminated, the Cultivators at the base returned to their usual routines. Pang Xu was the only one waiting below the atmosphere to greet the three of them.

What followed was routine procedure.

Fifteen minutes later, Wang Ping and the others left the moon, returning the way they came.

As the three of them flew into the space outside Zhongzhou Star, Wang Ping suddenly asked, “What’s the edge of this starfield like?”

Buqiong seemed to fall into a brief memory before quickly replying, “First, there are endless meteorites. At the end of the meteorite belt is darkness. Endless darkness.”
