Chapter 256: Chapter 187: Scolding at the Meeting (2)

And you have the nerve to value it at 200 million?

Is money in the tech industry really this easy to make?

He didn’t dare to breathe. After Hou Fei finished speaking, the review panel asked President Yuan if he had anything to add, and he hastily replied, "I have nothing! Nothing at all!"

Hou Fei shot him a reproachful look. ’So unsophisticated, getting nervous over a simple roadshow.’

President Xiang, the head of Investment Division One at Junxiao Investment Group, said, "Dr. Hou, I’ve reviewed your project. There are a few points I’d like to clarify."

Hou Fei gestured for him to speak.

"First, has this company been established yet?"

"Second, do you have any phased results?"

"Third, are there any potential partners or letters of intent for orders?"

"And fourth, what is the basis for this 200 million valuation?"

Hou Fei was momentarily at a loss for words. Fortunately, he was thick-skinned. He pondered for a moment before answering.

"The company hasn’t been established yet. We’re here this time to secure an investment commitment. If we can get the funding, we’ll establish the company immediately!"

President Xiang remained expressionless, making it impossible to know what he was thinking.

Hou Fei continued, "This is a commercialization of scientific research, so yes, we do have phased results."

"We also have a potential partner. The Jiangzhou Design Institute has over twenty labs, and they have an initial procurement need of nearly 5 million for this project!"

"As for the 200 million valuation, this market is worth tens of billions a year. Our product is in a league of its own, far ahead of the competition, and will basically have a monopoly. I believe a valuation of 200 million is both reasonable and pragmatic!"

President Xiang smiled. "In other words, this project is still at the PowerPoint stage. There’s no actual product, correct?"

Hou Fei felt the jab but replied, "Once we have the money, it can be turned into a product at any time!"

President Xiang continued, "You mentioned the Jiangzhou Design Institute is interested in an initial procurement. Is there a purchase order contract? If so, that would provide strong support for your fundraising."

Without batting an eye, Hou Fei said, "We’re already discussing the details. We’ll definitely get the contract signed!"

’This Hou Fei guy is something else,’ Yuan Kai thought, stunned. ’He can tell lies like that without flinching, and his stories flow as smooth as silk!’

President Xiang smiled, closed his notebook, and said, "Alright, Dr. Hou. I have a clear understanding of the project now. It’s a good project, but we’ll need to discuss it internally. Please wait for our response."

Beaming, Hou Fei stood up and said, "It is a good project. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have brought it to the Junxiao Group. I hope we can have a pleasant partnership!"

President Xiang shook hands with Hou Fei and Yuan Kai in a polite but mechanical farewell, escorted them to the elevators, and watched them descend.

Turning back to the conference room, a member of President Xiang’s team said, "Boss, that business plan was a real eye-opener!"

President Xiang shot him a glare. "Don’t make a big deal out of nothing."

"Should we report this project up the chain?"

"Report my ass! What kind of project is this? It’s just an idea! An idea is worth 200 million?"

"An idea he’s spun to sound like he’s already conquered the entire national market!"

"If he already had results and was a leader in the industry, I might consider it. But what is this? It’s not even a shell company!"

"If I report a project like this, are you trying to get me fired? Do you think my professional standards are that low?"

After chewing out his subordinate, President Xiang wasn’t thinking about how to report to the company, but rather how to reply to Mr. Gao.

After all, the business plan had been recommended by Gao Yue, and Gao Yue was one of President Xu’s people. He had to consider her reputation.

Back in Yuan Kai’s Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Hou Fei said excitedly, "Yuan, this project is basically a done deal!"

Yuan Kai no longer believed him. Every time he said something was "no problem," it was always full of hot air.

He had been there in person today and couldn’t see how anything about it was "no problem." But since he had never been involved in fundraising before, he wasn’t in a good position to judge.

Hou Fei continued, "That President Xiang has a clear understanding. He knows it’s a good project!"

Yuan Kai was dumbfounded. ’You’ve got to be kidding me,’ he thought. ’You’re not actually concluding it’s a done deal based on that one sentence, are you? It was just polite talk. Can you really not tell the difference?’

Hou Fei added, "They might ask for the purchase order from the Jiangzhou Design Institute later. We need to prepare for that. You should set up a meeting with Assistant Bai. I’ll talk to her personally. We need to sign at least a letter of intent!"

Yuan Kai stared at him in astonishment. "You’re going to see Assistant Bai? Will she even talk to you? She’s said before that she only deals with Chen Xiao!"

Hou Fei didn’t notice his strange reaction and continued, "I’ll talk to her first in the name of Dr. Feng’s Robot. Then, at the end, I’ll tell her that Dr. Feng’s Robot won’t be doing it, but my, Hou Fei’s, personal team will!"

’Forget it. All hope is lost.’ Yuan Kai felt completely deflated. Hou Fei’s wild, fanciful ideas were just too unreliable.

He had a promising future at Dr. Feng’s Robot. There was no need to go through fire and water with this guy. That would be like a moth flying into a flame.

"President Hou, when can I get reimbursed for that dinner and the wine I bought last time?"

"What the hell! Yuan, I’ve discovered you’re a very petty person. Am I the kind of guy who would short you that little bit of money? Do you really think I’d stiff you on the bill? You’re so cynical!"

’You son of a bitch. I just asked a simple question, and you’re calling me cynical? You’re the one who hasn’t paid, yet you’re telling me not to think that way about you!’

Yuan Kai wasn’t a patient man either. He felt like he couldn’t even speak to Hou Fei. Just a couple of sentences from him made Yuan Kai want to drive the car off a cliff and take them both out.

’Hold it in. Damn it, I have to stay away from people like this. God, please let President Feng fire him soon! Or at least take the business department away from him!’
