Chapter 295: Chapter 200: How About a Hug?
"I’ve got some gossip for you," Ma Jing said as she swiped open the door to Chen Xiao’s office area.
Once inside, Chen Xiao was a bit taken aback. ’Is this really an office?’
The place had all sorts of entertainment facilities. Seeing a row of five computers, Chen Xiao asked, "Whose workstation in the Sales Department is this?"
"Yours, of course! And when you’re here, I have permission to come in too!"
"Then why are there five computers?"
"For your gaming squad!"
Chen Xiao was speechless. ’That’s strangely thoughtful, but I don’t have a team!’
Ma Jing walked further in to another door. She pressed a button, revealing a lounge of about thirty square meters. It was even more luxurious than Chen Xiao’s old one at Yunfeng Building. It was clear a lot of thought had gone into the decoration.
’What kind of job is this? All I’d do is play games and sleep all day!’
"Oh, right. There’s another door over here. It’s full of gym equipment. For when you get too tired from gaming and need to get some exercise!"
Chen Xiao lay down on a massage chair and said, "Ah, this decadent lifestyle... It really makes me appreciate how wonderful company life is!"
"So, what was it you were about to say when we walked in?"
Only then did Ma Jing recount the story for Chen Xiao.
When Li Hui interviewed for the Sales Director position, he demanded authority over his department’s personnel and salary adjustments. The HR manager, knowing Feng Feifei’s management style, was aware that at Dr. Feng’s Robot, department heads already had significant authority over their subordinates’ appointments and raises.
However, she did warn Li Hui that there was one person in the Sales Department named Chen Xiao who was off-limits. He was to be left alone. Even if he were to burn the company to the ground, Li Hui was not to interfere.
She was obviously exaggerating, but Li Hui was not pleased. There was someone in the Sales Department he couldn’t manage? And what was that about burning the company down? He wasn’t supposed to get involved even then?
How could he save face as the Sales Director? He had to refuse, and refuse sternly!
"A prince who breaks the law should be punished the same as a commoner. If there are privileged individuals in the Sales Department, then I’m sorry, but I cannot take this job."
He was trying to force the company’s hand, but to his surprise, the HR manager immediately replied, "If that’s the case, then that’s a real shame."
A real shame? It would have been the regret of a lifetime! The base salary for the Sales Director at Dr. Feng’s Robot was incredibly high—a base of 50,000 a month!
Where else could he find a package like that? He caved instantly! But he’s always wanted to meet Chen Xiao to see just who this sacred cow was and what made him so special.
Chen Xiao just smiled without saying anything after hearing the story.
He really didn’t want any more conflicts with the new Sales Director. He’d already had unpleasant run-ins with everyone from Yuan Kai to Hou Fei. ’Hopefully, we can get along peacefully this time,’ he thought.
After the recreational area, they came to a small, partitioned-off office of about thirty square meters. Inside was an exquisite executive desk and a plush executive chair. Opposite them sat a minimalist-style sofa set for receiving guests.
’Such a high-spec setup,’ Chen Xiao mused, rubbing his chin.
He had to go thank President Feng. This was spoiling him to the extreme. He didn’t even have to think about it; Feng Feifei’s own office was definitely not as unique as his.
When Feng Feifei’s assistant saw it was Chen Xiao, her face blossomed into a wide smile. As Feng Feifei’s executive assistant, she was well aware of Chen Xiao’s status in President Feng’s heart.
Given Feng Feifei’s current standing, even a corporate vice president would have to schedule an appointment through her assistant and wait to be called in.
But not Chen Xiao. The assistant swiped open the door to Feng Feifei’s office and invited him right in.
Hearing the sound outside, Feng Feifei knew Chen Xiao had arrived. He was the only one in the entire company who had this privilege. For anyone else, her assistant would have confirmed with her first before showing them in for their report.
"So, are you satisfied with your new office?"
He glanced around Feng Feifei’s office. Aside from being larger, it was partitioned into a small conference room, a reception area, and a private lounge.
The overall layout was quite traditional; it really couldn’t compare to the effort that had been put into Chen Xiao’s.
"I think it’s even nicer than yours. Isn’t that a bit against the rules?"
"What rules? Don’t I make the rules in this company?"
The heat was on full blast. Feng Feifei wore a tight black top that accentuated her ample chest. With a smile on her face, she was as radiant as a flower.
"Yeah, you’re the biggest."
Chen Xiao shot her a look, then nonchalantly sat down in the chair opposite her.
Feng Feifei shot him a glare, unsure if "biggest" referred to her position or... something else.
"Oh, right. Why was my salary raised so much?"
"The end of last month was pretty hectic, and I barely saw you. I figured you wouldn’t turn down a raise, so I had HR make an adjustment for you."
"Since you’re not willing to accept a promotion in title, I went ahead and raised your rank to P17. Your salary is provisionally set at 500,000 a month."
P17? Chen Xiao was dumbfounded. ’A Corporate Vice President is only a P16! Only the COO is a P17, and Feng Feifei herself is P18!’
’That means I’m on the same level as the corporation’s second-in-command!’
’A P17 sales rep... You had people like Zhao Rui and Ji Kang who were still P5s, Yuan Kai was only a P9, and even that arrogant hustler Hou Fei was only a P13.’
’The crucial part is, the higher you go, the fewer positions there are and the slimmer the chances of promotion.’
Oh well. Chen Xiao sneaked a peek at his system and, seeing his Diligence Points were still there, breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn’t really care about the rank; what he cared about was not having his Diligence Points reset to zero!
"Oh, right, Chen Xiao. During the annual gala a few days ago, someone named Xia-something—I can’t remember his full name—came to me with a complaint. He said you have a reputation for improper conduct outside of work, that you’re going around preying on girls."
Feng Feifei stared at Chen Xiao without blinking, hoping to glean something from his expression.
