Chapter 411: Chapter 239: Adjusting the Division of Labor
Chen Xiao was deliberately avoiding that topic.
It wasn’t that he was dead set on causing trouble for Shanyun Auto on Xiangzi 7:30; he just didn’t want his words to be restricted.
’What’s the point of going on a livestream if I can’t speak freely?’
He had originally wanted to discuss building a joint overseas sales channel with Jin Wuxian, but on second thought, he decided against it.
’In what capacity could he even talk to Jin Wuxian?’
Jin Wuxian currently knew him as a salesperson for the Doctor Feng Robot Technology Group, but building an overseas channel was a matter for Junxing Auto. Chen Xiao couldn’t exactly claim to be a part-time salesperson for Junxing Auto, could he?
He had no intention of revealing his identity as the boss of Junxiao Group to too many people. If he did, he could kiss his peace and quiet goodbye.
’It would be more appropriate to have Mr. Xu Gang discuss this with Jin Fu.’
While he was on the phone, Ma Jing had finished getting ready. When she came out, she once again looked like the sweet, wholesome girl next door, fresh out of college.
"Brother Chen Xiao, are you leaving?"
Chen Xiao had already packed his bag, looking like he was about to leave work early.
"If I don’t leave now, I’m afraid I won’t want to leave at all!"
Ma Jing thought for a moment, then mustered her courage. "Then don’t. There’s still half an hour until closing time."
Chen Xiao was displeased. ’Who are you looking down on? What can anyone do in just half an hour?’
’A major reason I’m letting you off the hook is that I’m afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle it. You’d end up all battered and bruised, and I wouldn’t get to have my fun. Wouldn’t that be a lose-lose situation?’
"Ma Jing, one day I’ll show you how a man is forged from steel!"
The line was a bit convoluted, but Ma Jing actually understood it. It was a pity; she was just a simple, inexperienced girl, yet it hadn’t taken long for Chen Xiao’s daily dirty jokes to lead her astray.
He shut down his computer.
Suddenly, a notification popped up from his email. Chen Xiao subconsciously clicked to take a look.
’No way... What’s this?!’
’Aren’t Yuan Kai and Hou Fei supposed to be best buddies? How did they get into a fight at the company, a physical one at that, and both receive a major demerit?!’
’They used to be thick as thieves. They aren’t on the same floor anymore, so a rare meeting should have been a chance to catch up. How did it turn into a dog-eat-dog spectacle?’
She had apparently noticed his confusion.
"Yuan Kai and Hou Fei got into an argument in the cafeteria during lunch. Yuan Kai gave Hou Fei a shove and sent him falling butt-first into a trash can!"
’Such a comical scene?’ Chen Xiao wasn’t one for gossip, but he couldn’t help but crack a smile imagining it.
Ma Jing continued to recount what she had heard.
Apparently, Hou Fei had asked Yuan Kai to accompany him to Bailu Manor to treat an important figure to dinner. It was agreed that Hou Fei would pay for the meal, and he had Yuan Kai buy a case of Wuliangye.
But when they got there, they discovered the VIP only drank Maotai and disliked strong-aroma style liquor. So, Hou Fei had Yuan Kai go buy a case of Maotai, telling him to front the money and that he would pay him back later.
Afterward, Yuan Kai asked Hou Fei for the money multiple times, but Hou Fei always had some excuse and just wouldn’t reimburse him.
At lunch today, Yuan Kai happened to run into Hou Fei. Since they were on different floors now and their work didn’t overlap, it was rare for them to meet.
Seizing the opportunity, Yuan Kai once again demanded that Hou Fei reimburse him for the dinner and the case of Maotai.
But Hou Fei told Yuan Kai that since they didn’t accomplish their goal, he, Hou Fei, shouldn’t be the one to pay for it.
Faced with such bizarre logic, Yuan Kai exploded on the spot.
"Do you even know what ’fronting the money’ means? You were the one handling this shit! Just because you failed, you think you shouldn’t have to pay? You think I should pay for it instead?"
’Yuan Kai was already an oddball, but who knew he’d run into someone even weirder!’
Yuan Kai started cursing, and Hou Fei immediately flew into a rage, retorting, "How could you use such foul language? How can you be so boorish? I refuse to speak with someone of your low character. It’s like casting pearls before swine!"
"Fuck your ’casting pearls’! If you don’t give me the money today, I swear to God, this isn’t over!"
Yuan Kai had finally lost it. He’d spent several thousand on the Wuliangye and acted as a gofer and a waiter all night. And now the dinner and the Maotai, which Hou Fei had promised to cover, were supposed to be on his tab? On what grounds?
Hou Fei’s face flushed red. Yuan Kai’s insults had clearly made him furious. "Yuan Kai, you are so uncouth! To think you would insult a company executive! I’m going to report you to President Feng!"
Yuan Kai was still a little intimidated at the mention of President Feng.
His tone softened slightly. "Fine, I won’t curse at you. But come hell or high water, you are giving me that money today. If you don’t, you won’t have to find President Feng, because I’ll be reporting *your* problems to upper management!"
Hou Fei sneered. ’Report my problems? What problems do I have? We didn’t get the deal done, so why on earth should I have to pay!’
He felt he was being perfectly reasonable and said coolly, "Yuan Kai, I don’t have the money. There’s no point in discussing this further."
’Fuck your "no point in discussing this further"!’ Yuan Kai, unable to contain his rage, went up and shoved him. "Have you no fucking shame?"
Hou Fei lost his balance, stumbled back a few steps, and landed right on his ass in the trash can.
Chen Xiao shook his head as he listened. ’A nutjob ran into an even bigger nutjob.’
’A guy like Hou Fei is only suited for scientific research. His IQ is there, at least.’
’But his brain is missing a screw. The kind of guy who didn’t quite finish evolving.’
Ma Jing added, "Hou Fei was apparently planning to go and report this to President Feng this afternoon!"
Chen Xiao scoffed, "President Feng would bother with this trivial crap? She must be really bored."
The company was so large now. An issue between a business unit’s CTO and a manager from the sales department... at most, Feng Feifei would take note of it. For her to handle it personally would be making a mountain out of a molehill.
