Chapter 34: The Last Member

Amelie settled comfortably on the sofa, placing her hands on her lap as she sits on his sofa. She adjusted her glasses and then spoke. "I’m quite intelligent when it comes to computers. I also have a knack for investigating things. Finding information, tracing digital activities, connecting details that other people might overlook. That’s something I’m good at."

Morales studied her face. "Okay?"

"I want you to help me lead our group. I’m not particularly good at being a leader, and I don’t think I can handle all five members on my own."

She paused before continuing. "If you help me through the group project and we manage to make the top five in the entire Prestige Class, I’ll do everything in my power to find out who sent that anonymous message about the bounty on your head."

Morales looked at her for a moment, well he plan worked. "Deal."

Amelie’s face brightened. "Really?"

"Yeah. I don’t see why not."

"Thank you, Brown, fir transferring the leadership to me and for agreeing to this, you see am allergic to failing exams."

He leaned back against the sofa. "Now, what exactly is our theme going to be? What kind of event are we organising? And, more importantly, who is going to help us bring students from the Imperial Class?"

Amelie suddenly looked a little uncomfortable. "Well, about that..."

"What?"

"You know how I told you my brother Kayden is the king of prestige and a senior." He nodded responsively, and she continues, "His kind of infamous for the Imperial students and they hate my brother."

Morales blinked. "Well that’s unfortunate."

She nodded. "Yes. It’s a long story, but let’s just say he isn’t particularly popular among them."

"And the other two?"

"I’m not sure about them. But I’m certain we can work something out."

Morales rubbed his chin. "That’s not particularly helpful."

"I know." She gave him an apologetic smile. "But you’re smart. Maybe you can come up with something."

He looked at her. "How would you know I’m smart?"

Amelie adjusted her glasses again. "Because I don’t believe your examination result was a glitch."

Morales’s expression remained unchanged, but his interest increased. "Go on."

"Everyone keeps saying the ranking display malfunctioned. Your name appeared at twenty-first, alongside Chloe Sterling and Sophia Laurent, and the rankings skipped two positions. People believe it was a system error because they didn’t see your name in anywhere before."

She leaned forward slightly. "But I don’t think that’s what happened." Morales said nothing, Amelie continued. "I believe you had something to do with it. You deliberately made your name appear there, because maybe you didn’t want your name to be in the imperial class, or you bribed your way in."

He raised an eyebrow. "Which do you stand for?"

"That’s what I’m trying to figure out." She smiled faintly. "Think about it. You were one of the poorest applicants, let me rephrase the poorest, yet you managed to enter the Prestige Class. You finished the examination with an impressive result, and somehow, you ended up at twenty-first alongside two beautiful girls you seem to spend a lot of time with."

She tilted her head. "Doesn’t that sound suspicious?"

Morales stared at her. For someone who appeared to be an ordinary girl with glasses, she is surprisingly observant. Most students had simply accepted the explanation that the ranking display had malfunctioned. But Amelie had looked beyond the obvious and questioned what had actually happened.

’She’s good.’

He couldn’t help but appreciate her intelligence. ’I might want to keep this girl by my side one day.’

He had initially thought she was just another pretty girl who wanted to get close to him. Apparently, there was considerably more to her than that.

And if he was being honest, he was beginning to think that having her around wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

"Anyway," he said, bringing their conversation back to the matter at hand, "I have a few ideas. But first, let’s see who else is in our group. We can’t plan anything properly without knowing what we’re working with."

Amelie nodded. "That’s true." And she stood up, "Well goodnight Brown." And she opens the door and exited, while Morales just kept his smile and continued with his new laptop.

The following day, the Prestige Class was unusually quiet. Unlike an ordinary Academy timetable, the students weren’t spending most of their time attending lectures. The new examination requirements had taken priority, and everyone was busy preparing for the first major assessment.

Of course, they could still call it an exam. But the real examinations would come later.

Morales was seated with Amelie when they finally managed to gather two more members of their group.

The first was Christopher Goodman. He came from the Goodman family, one of the wealthiest and most respected billionaire families in the city. Their influence extended far beyond ordinary business circles, and their name carried considerable weight among the wealthy.

In this city, billionaires practically ruled everything.

Millionaires were relatively uncommon, and even people from modest backgrounds understood that the real power belonged to families whose wealth stretched into the billions.

Christopher was one of those people. He had a composed appearance and carried himself with the confidence of someone who had grown up surrounded by wealth and influence.

The second member was Emma Bentley. Unlike Christopher, Emma’s popularity wasn’t simply connected to her family background.

She was a successful influencer in her own right, with an enormous following among Aurelius students. Even though she had a billionaire father, she had managed to establish her own identity and reputation.

Almost everyone seemed to like her. Since resuming at Aurelius, she had become the most liked student in the Prestige Class. She was also known for competing with an Imperial Class girl who worked in the same influencer space.

Interestingly, Emma appeared to be more popular with students. Morales was pleased with the two additions. ’Good. These two are exactly what we need.’

Christopher came from a powerful family, while Emma had the popularity and social connections that could help them attract an audience. He had already begun considering a few ideas, and having people like them in the group would make things considerably easier.

Of course, he had the system to thank for some of his improved thinking abilities. He was now smarter, and he could already feel the difference.

However, there was still one person missing.

Alexander Thorne.

Morales had heard about him from Amelie. According to her, Alexander was a spoiled brat from an extremely wealthy family, one that rivalled even the Vance family, (Jayden family).

After hearing about the people in his group, Morales couldn’t help but think about something. ’The Prestige Class is ridiculously wealthy.’

He had initially thought his financial position would make him stand out among the students. But looking at the families represented in his class, he began to reconsider. He had billions in his account, but some of these people came from families whose wealth stretched into the trillions.

And that was only the Prestige Class. The Imperial Class was an entirely different level. ’Imagine if I’d actually ended up in the Imperial Class.’ They probably would’ve looked at him like he was some kind of beggar. He shook his head.

It didn’t matter. He was already here, and might get to imperial soon but now now. "Where’s Alexander?" he asked, since they’ve been following a route that someone directed them to.

Amelie glanced towards the field. "Over there." Morales followed her gaze.

A guy was jogging across the field, wearing a fitted athletic outfit that showed off his muscular physique. His movements were deliberate, and he seemed particularly conscious of the attention he was receiving.

Several girls nearby were watching him. Some whispered to each other, while others openly admired his appearance.

"Alexander Thorne." She calls out.

"Ohh my stupid group mates.....I’ll meet in in a sec." He answered but instead of meeting them he kept on flexing his muscles as he jogged, occasionally adjusting his posture as though he were posing for an invisible camera.

’What a narcissist.’ Morales thought.

Morales watched him for a few seconds, Amelie, meanwhile, looked down at her wrist and exaggeratedly checked the time, despite not wearing a watch. "Are we going to stand here for hours until His Majesty finishes showing off?"

Morales chuckled. "You’re not particularly fond of him, are you?"

"Not even slightly." She folded her arms. "He’s a complete douchebag. Don’t let his family name fool you."

Morales continued watching Alexander. The guy was still jogging around, clearly enjoying the attention from the girls, Amelie sighed. "Honestly, I don’t know how someone can be so obsessed with himself."

Morales smiled. "Well, I have an idea."

She turned towards him. "What idea?"

He looked back at Alexander, then returned his attention to her. "An idea that might get him out of this narcissistic trance."

Amelie raised an eyebrow. "What are you planning, Brown?" Morales simply smiled, hehad a feeling this was going to be interesting, only for him though.
