Chapter 454: Aberration Descends! Giant Dragons Reappear

  • Next Chapter

Suddenly, Chu Bamboo looked up at the sky, his brow slowly furrowing.

‘His Memory Divine Techniques sensed a sudden eruption of memory fluctuations from the sky… That means many life forms just appeared there! And they’re not like birds or beasts; the scale of these memories is massive.’

‘This means that the beings appearing in the sky… must have lived for a very, very long time! No, could it be… they’re Transcendents?’

The next moment, the sky filled with a dense network of cracks.

“?!” Chu Bamboo’s expression shifted slightly. ‘Transcendents are making a move? That can’t be right!’

He had dispersed the crowds around the C Group headquarters, but he hadn’t cleared out all of Celestial Capital. Under these circumstances, Transcendents were supposed to…

A colossal dragon claw emerged from one of the cracks. Icy draconic eyes, like twin moons in the night sky, glowed with a cold, faint light. “…ROAR!”

Chu Bamboo: “…”

‘Alright, strictly speaking, they aren’t Transcendents, but Extraordinary Life forms.’

At that moment, Chu Bamboo had a sudden realization—the forces that constrained Transcendents from displaying their Extraordinary Power before the public were the various faiths, the Daqian Dynasty, and that supposedly unreliable… law of Nuwa.

Now, he had crushed Daqian, and the various faiths were in a wait-and-see state… The only thing still in effect was the so-called law of Nuwa!

Those who knew of the law’s existence—the upper echelons of the major heretical and orthodox faiths, the top-tier Transcendents—might still have some reservations. Even those who didn’t know the law, out of sheer habit, probably wouldn’t dare to act recklessly just yet…

But Extraordinary Life forms weren’t necessarily the same! ‘Or rather… they might not know much about the human world at all!’

A piercing screech rang out, a sound similar to shattering glass but far more grating…

The cracks widened abruptly.

A hundred-meter-long Giant Dragon burst from a crack, wreathed in shards of space that glittered like broken glass.

It wasn’t alone. One after another… a total of seventeen Western-style Giant Dragons shot out—some old, some young. The smallest was barely over five meters long… a mere infant compared to the hundred-meter-long behemoth.

Chu Bamboo sensed a desperate madness in them. ‘They even brought their children. Is this an all-or-nothing gamble?’

‘Wait a minute… It’s them again?!’

The realization dawned on Chu Bamboo. He remembered seeing these creatures in The Matrix timeline… ‘Well, to be precise, their kind,’ he corrected himself.

‘But why do they still exist? Weren’t they all slaughtered by God?’

‘Or did God only kill off all their top experts, and these are the survivors?’

But so much time had passed… The Giant Dragon Race, once considered a top-tier race among the Ten Thousand Races, had managed to recover…

“You bastards!” a voice snarled, and a burst of fiery lightning erupted. A figure in a scholar’s robe appeared in the sky—it was Ji Lan.

He stared fixedly at the terrifying Giant Dragons, took a deep breath, and recited in perfect, classical Chinese, “To kill a man a thousand li away, leaving no trace in ten steps’ stay!”

Blessing Power transformed into Literary Qi, which flowed from his mouth as flying swords condensed around him.

With a point of Ji Lan’s finger, the translucent flying swords unleashed a terrifying wave of Sword Qi. It swept across the heavens, a storm of rain flying upward to engulf the Giant Dragons.

The dragons, however, paid them no mind… With maddened expressions, they simply dove toward the C Company headquarters.

“…Amitabha Buddha!” A Buddha’s Name was chanted, followed by the cry of a phoenix—long, holy, and tinged with piety. “Your Majesty Wa Huang, the situation is urgent… The Ten Thousand Races are openly invading! According to Article Seventeen of the ancient pact, my acting before the public should not be considered a breach. I beseech your acknowledgment and approval.”

As the voice faded, a golden, sky-piercing Tower began to slowly materialize in the distance. The voice now carried a hint of excitement… The solemn words before had been more of a disclaimer; now, he sounded like a wild horse let off its leash. “This temple happens to be in need of a few Protective Beasts of the Faith! Your timing couldn’t be better.”

“Wicked beasts, your sins of slaughter are countless! Surrender and serve as my mount at once!”

The Buddha’s voice boomed through the heavens. Buddha’s Light surged toward the dragons… but only the few smaller ones halted, their faces contorted, seemingly shaken.

Chu Bamboo’s chaotic thoughts coalesced in that instant. Without a moment’s hesitation, he bolted toward Gate Three of the distant headquarters. He had figured it out. There was only one explanation for this: something inside the C Company headquarters was what the Giant Dragons craved.

‘The Giant Dragons might have been watching… no, they must have been watching this headquarters the entire time! As soon as it opened… they would immediately descend, no matter the circumstances…’

‘And the Giant Dragons are clearly desperate! The three young dragons in the sky are proof—for humans, that would be like sending eight-year-old children onto the battlefield with guns…’

‘In all likelihood, these fewer-than-twenty dragons, even if they aren’t all the dragons left in the world… probably aren’t far from it!’

“Wait! I’ll protect you.” A slightly hoarse voice spoke as a figure abruptly appeared beside Chu Bamboo. It was Huo Qiming!

“?” Chu Bamboo gave Huo Qiming a strange look. He suddenly sensed a faint flash of golden light in his mind. He shot Huo Qiming a deep glance but said nothing, continuing forward. ‘If he’s trouble, he’s trouble. Besides, I just want to pry out more information.’

A camera scanned Chu Bamboo’s face.

After a brief verification, the massive doors boomed open.

Chu Bamboo rushed inside without hesitation, with Huo Qiming right on his heels.

…

As Chu Bamboo walked through the company headquarters, he pulled out his phone. “Hive, do you know—”

He didn’t even get to finish his sentence.

Huo Qiming suddenly shot off in a specific direction.

“…How interesting!” Chu Bamboo’s expression was unreadable. ‘Is he dropping the act completely?’ He simply stuffed the phone into his pocket and quickly followed Huo Qiming.

Huo Qiming moved in a perfectly straight line. If a wall or door stood in his way, he would simply tear it apart, smashing through to continue on his path.

Finally.

After this straight-line sprint.

A few breaths later, Huo Qiming stopped in front of a wall.

His claws slammed into the wall, but only sank in halfway. “…Damn it!”

A savage look twisted his features. He slammed his other hand into the wall, but still couldn’t break through. After a brief silence, he pulled one claw free and abruptly started running along the wall. The claw still embedded in the masonry carved a deep scar across the surface as he moved…

“?” Arriving to witness this scene, Chu Bamboo’s face took on a thoughtful expression as he continued to follow close behind.
