My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future
Chapter 480: Seeing the Big Orange Cat Again! Chu Bamboo, the Big Orange Cat, Su Po
When Chu Bamboo opened his eyes again, he had Nuwa pull up the data on the Second Genetic Revolution without hesitation and began to memorize it.
Without a doubt, the sheer volume of data for the Second Genetic Revolution was a thousand times greater than that of the First!
Even though Chu Bamboo could remember anything with just a glance, there was no way he could memorize it all in time, so he had to have Nuwa omit a large amount of unimportant content.
However…
‘The Genetic Modification for the Second Realm is… this absurd!’
After reviewing the Genetic Modification data, Chu Bamboo was momentarily at a loss for what expression to wear.
The First Realm modification could be performed on anyone—they just had to lie on an operating table. The difficulty was roughly on par with a heart transplant, and it didn’t require any foreign materials…
But the Second Realm modification was a completely different matter!
‘The most important thing is that it requires the lineage factor of a Third Realm Cultivator, or rather, a Body Cultivator.’ Chu Bamboo’s eye twitched.
For example, if Chu Bamboo wanted to create a Second Realm individual right now, he would first have to draw his own blood, or the blood of another Third Realm expert. From that blood, he would have to isolate the lineage factor. Then, he would need to use genetic technology to adjust the factor to match the recipient and prevent post-implantation rejection, and finally, inject it…
Chu Bamboo could only think, no wonder everyone in the general populace ended up as First Realm Transcendents, while the number of Second Realm Transcendents dropped off a cliff. ‘They’re literally sucking the blood of other Transcendents!’
‘I can’t imagine how much more troublesome the Genetic Modifications for the Third and Fourth Realms will be.’ Chu Bamboo sighed. He was starting to get a vague idea of why the Fourth Realm Genetic Modification was so expensive!
He then used two resets to finally memorize the key points of the Second Genetic Revolution. As for the Third Genetic Revolution, he didn’t even bother searching for it.
After all, only a tiny fraction of the second one could possibly be replicated in the real world. The third one had no practical applications whatsoever—
Not to mention, even after cutting over ninety percent of the content for the second one, it had still taken him this long to memorize just a fraction of it. The Third Genetic Revolution… even his Memory Divine Techniques felt inadequate for the task!
After all, memorization required him to physically see the data. It was the kind of thing where, even if he only needed a single glance… scanning all of it would take months, if not years…
…
“Your Excellency, Mr. Secretary-General, the time is now 6:00 AM sharp, Yanjing time.” After hearing the time from Nuwa No. 17, Chu Bamboo thought for a moment and made a decision.
First, he reached up and pressed a finger to the spot between his eyebrows, sealing the memories related to Su Po—
Now, Chu Bamboo could no longer recall Su Po’s name or his Divine Position. Of course, he was still aware of Su Po’s existence. He even remembered everything they had been through together, all the love and hate between them…
Chu Bamboo had only sealed his knowledge of the man’s name and Divine Position. Now, in his mind, his name for the man had become the Emperor of Daqian.
‘Next!’ Without hesitation, Chu Bamboo unsealed another of his memories. First up…
“The Dragon of Will and Heart!”
Chu Bamboo waited quietly but detected no anomalies. ‘So, either that Old Dragon is still in the Celestial Capital, or… it’s dead as a doornail!’
Chu Bamboo shook his head, sealed that memory again, then unsealed another. He uttered a second name: “Cat of Destiny, Chaos!”
The next moment, the void began to twist and distort.
A… huh? Chu Bamboo’s serious expression froze. He instinctively rubbed his eyes, scarcely able to believe what he was seeing—
What on earth was he seeing?
It was still the Big Orange Cat, but she was wearing one of those anime-themed shirts. Yes, the kind otakus wear!
Although Chu Bamboo didn’t recognize the anime girl on the shirt—probably from some game that hadn’t been released yet—it was, without a doubt, an anime shirt!
‘Damn it! God, look at the cat you’re raising! No, wait, they say pets take after their owners… Does that mean…’
The Big Orange Cat wore black-framed glasses. Her eyes held a dazed, innocent look, tinged with a hint of timidity. “Excuse me… who are you?” she asked.
“…Just give me a second to calm down!” Chu Bamboo forced a smile and took a deep breath. He had imagined countless scenarios, but this one completely floored him. He just stood there, stunned, for several seconds.
Then, sensing something was wrong, he lunged forward and grabbed for the Big Orange Cat. The Big Orange Cat’s fur instantly stood on end, but he had to admit, this version of her was far less aggressive than the ones from previous timelines. She didn’t try to insta-kill him, but merely tried to push him away—only to freeze mid-motion.
She had sensed a familiar aura rising from Chu Bamboo—the Power of Destiny!
This was a precaution Chu Bamboo had taken when he decided to seek out the Cat of Destiny—all three of his current Divine Techniques were Destiny Divine Techniques!
“…Get me out of here.” Chu Bamboo’s voice was frantic. He even blurted out the secret code words, not knowing if they would even work. “‘Poop Scooper,’ ‘Cat Lord’… This is the will of God and Nuwa!”
Chu Bamboo was honestly curious whether those two terms would be effective. Perhaps it was because human civilization had continued uninterrupted in this world-line; in this life, everyone spoke a common tongue.
“…Huh?” The Big Orange Cat was taken aback for a moment. Then, her pupils contracted into slits—the look of a predator hunting its prey. Her back arched in a stress response.
Su Po had appeared out of nowhere in the spot where Chu Bamboo was just standing. He gazed at the Big Orange Cat with an inscrutable expression. “…I never thought the mythical cat actually existed…”
Su Po’s gaze shifted to Chu Bamboo. He was certain that Chu Bamboo had never met this cat before… unless it had been before he touched the Emperor Selection Stone and entered the palace…
“Your Majesty.” Su Po’s voice held a surprising trace of reverence, but his stance was uncompromising. “What do you intend to do to my Crown Prince?”
The Big Orange Cat was silent for a moment, then she gave a wry laugh. “Nothing much. I just came to see an old friend! Since you put it that way… I’ll return him to you… like hell I will!”
The Big Orange Cat’s paw suddenly swiped at the empty air. She and Chu Bamboo shot off into the distance, fleeing at extreme speed.
“…?” Su Po was stunned by this. He tried to process what had just happened, momentarily baffled by the move. ‘What kind of play was that?!’
He had assumed the Big Orange Cat would just rip through space-time to leave, the same way she had arrived. ‘Does carrying someone prevent her from teleporting?’
But…
“You don’t actually think you can escape me, do you?” A silent smile touched Su Po’s lips as he calmly gave chase.
And then.
He soon spotted them in a dense forest, their figures twisting before vanishing completely.
