My Ex-Husband Always Knew That I Had Cheated on Him
Chapter 418 - 400: So, She Was the Clown
Chloe Simpson looked up at her phone and, after staring at it for a long time, finally answered the call.
"Hello."
"Chloe, is that you?"
Soon, an eager voice came through the phone, a woman’s voice.
To be precise, it was a voice from a stranger.
"Who are you?" Chloe was full of confusion.
"I’m Chloe, Chloe Fletcher! Did you forget about me? I returned to the country and it took me three whole months to finally find your contact information. I worked so hard, but I didn’t expect you, heartless as you are, to forget about me. Oh!"
On the other end, Chloe Fletcher chirped like a little bird, chattering nonstop.
Chloe Simpson’s mind instantly flashed back to the past, vivid images appeared before her.
"Chloe, how could you be like this? You have such a good friend like me, you should feel very honored. No, you should feel very fortunate, because a friend like me is incredibly hard to find."
"Chloe, I’m going out today, I want to wear that white dress, and you should wear the same as me. I don’t care, because you are my best sister. I want us to wear matching outfits."
"Chloe, we promised, we will never ever be apart for our whole lives. Even when we get married in the future, we will be together; you marry the first brother, and I’ll marry the second one."
Days of gloom suddenly dispersed a lot with this phone call.
"Pfft!" Chloe Simpson chuckled lightly.
"What are you laughing at? Stinky Chloe, you really haven’t changed at all, still love to mock me like when we were little. Hmph! I’ll give you one night to think carefully about how to apologize to me. I’ll come to pick you up early tomorrow. You’re still living at the old place with Auntie, right?"
Chloe Fletcher continued to speak without a care, but that mention of the old place inexplicably brought tears to Chloe Simpson’s eyes.
"Chloe, I... I don’t live at the old place anymore. Let’s talk when we meet tomorrow."
She tried her best to suppress her sobs as she spoke.
"Okay, see you tomorrow then."
After hanging up the call, Chloe Simpson’s mind was filled with images of her childhood days with Chloe Fletcher.
As if dreaming at night, she returned to her childhood.
And that night was also the most peaceful and happiest night Chloe Simpson had in days.
She dreamt that she returned to her childhood, back to the days playing with mud with Chloe Fletcher.
In the dream, Chloe Fletcher’s family did not go abroad and didn’t move away.
The two of them happily grew up together just as they had wished.
In the end, they fulfilled their promise, marrying into the same family.
Chloe Fletcher married the second brother, and she married the first brother.
The family was harmonious and happy, very complete.
She did not meet Lucas Hughes, nor Alexander Johnson.
Her mother, Emily Sterling, did not have any accidents and lived to a ripe old age.
She even had a son and a daughter with her husband, completing a perfect family.
A whole life of peace, ordinary yet joyful, content and happy.
Even in death, she was buried together with her husband.
Until the alarm set for the next morning went off, she finally opened her eyes and woke up from the dream.
She opened her eyes to find herself still lying in the guest room bed at the Johnson Family’s house.
Chloe Simpson couldn’t help but choke up instantly.
"Mom, I really wish this wasn’t a dream. I wish all of this was real, wish I could truly have a life of peace and joy, an ordinary, simple path to the end. Huh..."
She sobbed for a long time before wiping her tears, turning off the phone alarm that kept urging her, and got up to freshen up a bit.
Over the days of gloom, she hadn’t cared about tidying herself up, continuously looking disheveled and listless.
After tidying up, she looked at herself in the mirror, suddenly feeling somewhat unfamiliar with her own reflection.
When she went downstairs, there was no one downstairs.
Only the Johnson Family’s servants were cleaning.
"Miss Simpson, would you like breakfast?"
"No need. Please inform Mr. Johnson that I’m going out to meet a friend today. Of course, if he’s worried, he can send someone to accompany me."
The servant did not dare delay, quickly called Soren Johnson.
"Sir, Miss Simpson said she’s going out to meet a friend."
"Okay, got it."
After the call, the servant respectfully came over and said, "Miss Simpson, Mr. Johnson said go ahead, just remember to come back tonight."
