Chapter 968

Anton was surprised that, upon submitting the Dream Mushrooms to the tower, he learned that the mission would allow him to rest for three months, just like the mission to acquire the Purple Corals.

When he accepted the mission to the Northern Forest to gather Dream Mushrooms, Anton had selected it because of his familiarity with the place. Apparently, its difficulty was almost the same as that of acquiring the Purple Corals.

Anton realized then that when it came to material-gathering missions, he had been extremely mistaken in thinking of them as simply searching for specific items in a designated location, like looking for a pebble in a mountain. He had learned that the first thing he should have done was to understand the environment and the people living there because, in most cases, the locals would be able to lead him directly to what he needed.

He was just glad that, for the next three months, he didn't have to undertake any missions and could focus on progressing his Spatial Magic Meditation Array and improving his spatial spells.

During the next few weeks, that was exactly what Anton did. As usual, to avoid burning himself out and becoming neglectful, he created a list of daily activities for himself.

First, he would rest for three hours, which was enough for him to recover fully with the help of the Pearl of the Ocean.

Second, he would spend an hour on his Diablo System, either completing the daily missions for his Diablo Immortal wizard character or searching for more powerful items in his non-ladder single-player Diablo II games.

The rest of his time would be spent progressing the spatial abilities that Traveler's Haven had provided him. Afterward, he spent around three hours relaxing by surfing Earth's internet through his Diablo System, watching movies, television shows, cartoons, and anime, or reading web novels.

Anton did feel a little guilty about secluding himself, but when he thought about it, his father was busy governing Oakswood Town, managing his mercenary teams, and taking care of his new family. Anna was also busy studying to become a powerful Ormundan wizard.

His other family members at Rose Manor were extremely busy with the family businesses as well. Romina, Luna, Bruce, and Susan were all busy with the family's cinema, fashion, and cosplay industries.

Alfred was still studying and being guarded by Luna's faithful old guardian, Normandy.

Anton wasn't worried about Alfred because he had realized that the kid had become addicted to movies and anime. Once he finished his studies, he would probably enter the family businesses as well, just like his sister, Luna.

The wizards the family had hired from New Drennor, Kirk, Abdul, Mesono, and Omar, were still studying, but the family was already grooming them to handle the family's businesses in New Drennor once it was time to expand into the port kingdom.

As far as Anton knew, Luna and Kirk's relationship had progressed to the point where they were simply waiting for the right time to get married.

The two wizards Anton had hired, Joel and Eric, were also progressing in their wizardry ranks. They were the only people Anton had given access to the multiplayer section of his Diablo II system. The two were unusually powerful because they had also been empowered by the classes they had selected inside Anton's Diablo II system.

The family was also grooming them to handle businesses in other parts of the continent.

The only sad part was that Anton had never become close to his stepmother and his two stepbrothers. It wasn't that he didn't like them. He knew that his father's new wife was a beautiful and dutiful woman. She also had access to the multiplayer section of Anton's Diablo II system.

Anton hadn't become close to his two stepbrothers either. He liked them, but there had simply been no opportunity for him to spend much time with them. With how busy he had become pursuing his goal of traveling into the multiverse, it would probably remain that way.

He wasn't worried about them because Anders would surely take care of them. Anton was even prepared to grant his two stepbrothers access to the multiplayer section of his Diablo II system if Anders ever asked him.

Anton realized that, with all of them having their own personal goals, sooner or later there would come a time when he would probably only communicate with his family once in a blue moon. He knew that they wouldn't fault him for that because it was simply how life was.

In truth, Anton was the unusual one. Ever since he had transmigrated to this world, he had been especially clingy toward his family. He had become dependent on them because they were the core that kept him stable in this frightening world.

Anton knew that it was time for him to wean himself off that dependency. It wasn't actually a total separation because he could still communicate with them through his Diablo System. Anna also kept reminding him that once he was able to go to Earth, he would need to fulfill his promise to bring her to the world where the movies and television shows originated so that she could explore it.

Anton didn't doubt that he would eventually be able to return to Earth. He knew in his gut that his soul, which had originally belonged to an Earthling, carried Earth's coordinates. Once he had the skills to traverse different dimensions, he would be able to open a Gate and return there.

He briefly wondered what impact powerful wizards arriving on Earth would have. He planned to make sure to lie low once he returned to Earth. He would also make sure that no wizard learned the coordinates to his original planet.

He didn't want Earth to be affected by anything that could disrupt its creative process, but he knew in his heart that once the door was opened for an outworlder to enter, it would be inevitable that other powerful beings would eventually find their way to Earth as well.

Anton shrugged and thought that Earth would adapt.

Anyone could adapt. If they couldn't, the only result would be destruction.

After a couple of months, Anton successfully solidified the third circle of his Spatial Magic Meditation Array, and he had also mastered the advanced versions of the spatial spells that Master Vernatu had given him.

When he reported his progress to his Apprentice Traveler tutor, Master Vernatu summoned him. His teacher wanted to check his progress, and after examining him, Master Vernatu announced that he was satisfied with Anton's progress.

Master Vernatu knew about Anton's mastery of the spells provided by his so-called bloodline magic, which were actually the skills from the eight Diablo II characters. However, his teacher advised him to also review the spells that the tower could provide.

His teacher told him to look into support and defensive spells because, in truth, Anton's greatest strength was in offensive spells.

Master Vernatu reminded him that not all problems in the multiverse could be solved with a fist.

After his discussion with his teacher, Anton followed Master Vernatu's advice and visited the section of the tower that provided spellbooks in exchange for the credits its members had earned.

Anton had only officially completed three missions, but his credits were already enough to purchase around four or five Supreme-rank spells.

He knew that the best thing he could do was not to focus on high-level spells, but rather on spells that could assist him in completing missions in different worlds or dimensions.

For the next few weeks, he spent many hours in the library searching for the best spells that could help him. He started with Novice spells and worked his way up to high-level spells.

By the time he needed to undertake a new mandatory mission, Anton had managed to collect a variety of support spells that he believed would greatly assist him with his missions, wherever they might take him.
