Chapter 600: Chapter 600
He took 0.9 of it.
[SHADOW ABSOLUTE MOVEMENT + DRAGON’S ROAR + VOID FANG + ABSOLUTE SEVERANCE + DRAGON’S HEART FULL OUTPUT]
The shadow carried him to the mechanism’s base.
Dragon’s Roar at point-blank applied directly to the existing fracture point — the dimensional sonic force at frequencies designed to shatter molecular bonds finding the already-compromised internal temporal geometry and driving existing cracks deeper.
Void Fang applied to the fracture’s deepest point — not the surface, the conceptual interior where the temporal inscriptions maintained their function — removing sections of inscription from the causal chain rather than merely damaging them.
Absolute Severance severed the conceptual connection between three additional inscription sections and their function.
Dragon’s Heart’s physical force output at maximum — the draconic power core driving everything else through the fracture simultaneously.
The mechanism fractured further.
New cracks propagated. The temporal light above it flickered — not the brief cycle of the first fracture, a sustained disruption, the organized patterns above the mechanism breaking into something closer to the Ashvale remnant’s random disturbance than Chronus’s engineered circulation.
The progression rate dropped.
Significantly more than the first fracture.
Independence threshold timeline: extended from thirty-five minutes to approximately fifty-eight minutes.
Chronus arrived at the mechanism’s position 0.1 seconds after Satou had cleared it.
He looked at the extended fracture.
At the disrupted patterns above it.
At what he had built — three months of work, the most sophisticated temporal construction he’d attempted in three centuries — approaching but not reaching the threshold that would have made everything permanent.
Something in his expression settled into something that wasn’t calculation for the first time in the entire fight.
He stood at the mechanism.
He stopped retreating.
The mobile management posture was gone. He was planted. The stance of someone who had made a final decision.
He looked at Satou.
He opened his mouth.
"You are really worth—"
He didn’t finish.
He released everything.
============
What Chronus released was not the explosive burning detonation that had been Richard’s style.
Richard’s nature — thirty percent of a Tenth Seat externalized, built for the kind of combat a fragment rather than a whole engaged in — had expressed in bursts, peaks, the specific intensity of something that couldn’t sustain maximum output indefinitely.
Chronus was the seventy percent that remained.
His release was not a burst.
It was everything. Sustained. Continuously. At maximum output across every temporal capability he possessed simultaneously — the full expression of millennia of refinement, every technique, every layered application, every aspect of his temporal power running concurrently.
[CHRONUS — TEMPORAL LORD’S ABSOLUTE DOMINION]
The clearing transformed in one instant.
Every historical state it had ever occupied crashed into the present simultaneously — the ancient Ashvale market existing in the same space as the three-century remnant existing in the same space as the working’s construction stages existing in the same space as the pre-battle forest. Time layered on time layered on time, the temporal field saturated past organized management into raw temporal force.
The ground phased between solid and non-existent — different historical states of the terrain cycling through the same physical moment.
The air ran at twenty simultaneous speeds — not the controlled overlay from earlier, all of them at once.
The seven anchor structures cycled through their construction stages — appearing, disappearing, half-built, complete, damaged — each at a different point in their history.
And Chronus occupied every temporal position he’d held in the past twenty minutes simultaneously.
Not clones. Not echoes. Every displacement point, every combat position, all of it collapsed into a single present moment that held all of them at once. An omnipresent form distributed across his personal temporal range.
Every position at once.
Against any other opponent this ended the fight in the same moment it started.
Satou stood inside an omnipresent Chronus.
[MENTAL FORTRESS — ABSOLUTE + COMBAT TRANSCENDENCE — LEGENDARY]
Processed immediately.
One reserve. Multiple simultaneous expressions. The total capability is not multiplied by the number of expressions — it’s divided. Each simultaneous aspect is carrying a fraction of what one would carry at full output.
[SHADOW ABSOLUTE MOVEMENT — CONTINUOUS STATE]
He entered the shadow medium and didn’t emerge.
He stayed in it — his physical presence occupying the dimensional space between shadows rather than any specific exit point, moving through the shadow network as a continuous state rather than a transit. The shadow medium covered the entire clearing’s shadow network simultaneously.
An omnipresent Chronus.
An omnipresent shadow-form Satou.
Every point of intersection — every shadow touching every temporal position Chronus occupied — carried one thing.
[VOID FANG — SHADOW MEDIUM CONTINUOUS APPLICATION]
Not strikes.
Contact.
Sustained. Area-wide. Reaching every aspect of the distributed form simultaneously through the shadow medium’s dimensional presence, existence erasure operating continuously across every temporal position Chronus was occupying.
The omnipresence held for forty seconds.
The Tenth Seat’s fundamental constitution absorbing what would have immediately destroyed anything lesser. The distributed form’s redundancy buying time against something that had no gaps and required no pauses.
Then the reserve hit the threshold it couldn’t maintain the distribution below.
Chronus collapsed back to singular.
He stood in the clearing’s center.
Real damage across every point his distributed form had occupied — structural, accumulated, forty seconds of uninterrupted Void Fang contact at area-wide scale worked into every position he’d simultaneously held.
He breathed.
Satou emerged from the shadow medium.
Omniscient Nightmare Vision read the reserve directly:
Eleven percent.
Fifty minutes to independence threshold.
Eight minutes of mana.
The gap was forty-two minutes.
The fight was over.
Not the exchange — not the immediate physical engagement. But the outcome was determined. The working would not hit independence threshold before the reserve ran out. Nothing Chronus could do in eight minutes of remaining mana would change the timeline enough to matter.
Chronus looked at the mechanism.
At the working.
At three months of construction approaching but not reaching the threshold that would have made it permanent.
He looked at Satou.
Opened his mouth.
"Impossibl—"
He didn’t finish the sentence because Satou moved.
Not claws. Not an ability chain. Just movement — the direct committed closing of distance at full speed without shadow, without delay, without preliminary.
The gap between them disappeared.
His hand closed around Chronus’s throat.
Not squeezing. Not temporal manipulation. Just closed — the grip of something that had consumed an Ancient God, around the throat of a Tenth Seat demon lord whose mana was running at 1.4% per minute and whose temporal power was no longer responding the way it had for millennia.
