Chapter 150: Lightweight Grass Flying Skill
Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Lightweight Grass Flying Skill
In a thicket, Gao Zhisong, wielder of the Seven-Snake Centipede Whip, lay on the ground, on the verge of death. Blood poured endlessly from the wound in his abdomen, staining the ground red.
Ye Xing rode his Gale Leopard up to Gao Zhisong and looked down at him.
"Do you want to live or die?" Ye Xing asked coolly.
"Why did you save me? What do you mean?" Gao Zhisong asked, his eyes flickering.
"Are you playing dumb with me?" Ye Xing pulled out a pistol, pressing the pitch-black muzzle directly against Gao Zhisong’s forehead. "I mean," he said coldly, "if you want to die, I can blow your brains out right now!"
"Don’t! We can talk this out. If I can live, of course I don’t want to die!" Gao Zhisong said hastily, his face pale. "What are your conditions? Secret Manuals, money—I can give you all of it!"
"Listen closely. I’m not short on Secret Manuals or money. If you want to live, my condition is simple: from now on, you will obey my orders and be at my beck and call," Ye Xing said gravely.
"You want me to become your subordinate?" Gao Zhisong’s eyes flickered. He pondered for a moment before saying, "Fine. As long as you save me, I’ll work for you."
"You agreed quickly enough!" A cold sneer touched the corner of Ye Xing’s mouth. He took out a syringe, plunged the needle into Gao Zhisong’s arm, and injected him with an anesthetic.
It was a high-concentration anesthetic. Even a Martial Artist would need a long time to regain mobility, even if they circulated their energy to expel it like a poison.
"Wh-what did you poison me with? Why is my body stiff? I can’t move! I already agreed to your terms, so why did you poison me?" Gao Zhisong, the man in the green robe, asked with a frown.
"Relax, it’s just an anesthetic. You won’t die," Ye Xing said with a smile. "Your Martial Arts are formidable. Even though you’re severely injured, I couldn’t be at ease without giving you a dose. There, that’s better!"
With that, Ye Xing put the syringe back into his Qiankun Bag and took out a glass jar.
As he unscrewed the jar’s lid, a strange medicinal odor wafted out. Inside were tiny, dark-green insects, each no bigger than a grain of rice. They were, in fact, Heart-devouring Gu Poisonous Insects.
Among the many Heart-devouring Gu Poisonous Insects were two that were jet-black, with bodies that were longer, thinner, and sharper.
Ye Xing took out one of the jet-black Heart-devouring Gu Poisonous Insects and placed it in Gao Zhisong’s palm.
"Th-this is... a Heart-devouring Gu? The Five Poison Sect’s Heart-devouring Gu?" Gao Zhisong’s pale face changed drastically. His eyes filled with terror as he cried out in a panic, "Stop! How do you have the Five Poison Sect’s Heart-devouring Gu? Stop!"
"Heh, you’re truly an old hand in the martial world to recognize a Heart-devouring Gu at a glance. But this isn’t an ordinary one. This black Poisonous Insect I’m giving you is a Heart-Devouring Gu King. It cost me a fortune in Gold Coins and materials to cultivate just two of them. Against an expert of your caliber, I wouldn’t feel safe using a common one!" Ye Xing said with a faint smile.
Ye Xing had spared no expense to cultivate the Heart-Devouring Gu King. Among all the Poisonous Insects described in the Five Poison Scripture, it was considered a high-grade specimen.
The sharp head of the jet-black Heart-Devouring Gu King swiftly pierced Gao Zhisong’s palm. A trickle of crimson blood seeped out as the Gu King burrowed into his hand. It traveled to his wrist, then began wriggling up his arm through his blood vessels, heading for his heart.
Gao Zhisong’s face twisted in agony, and beads of cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He was already severely wounded and paralyzed by the anesthetic, completely unable to move. As his internal injuries flared up, the excruciating pain from the Poisonous Insect was too much for his weakened body to bear. His head slumped to the side, and he fainted.
Soon, the Poisonous Insect settled into Gao Zhisong’s heart. Ye Xing had successfully seized control over the life of Gao Zhisong, the Seven-Snake Centipede Whip, ranked seventy-ninth on the Wind and Cloud List.
’Become my subordinate? Heh. What if you go back on your word once your injuries heal? Wouldn’t all my effort have been for nothing? I’m not an idiot. As if I’d ever trust you!’ Ye Xing sneered, looking down at the unconscious Gao Zhisong.
He then took out a vial of Upper-grade Golden Wound Medicine, hastily bandaged Gao Zhisong’s wound, and dragged him onto the back of the Gale Leopard to take him back to the Ye Mansion.
’This world is vast. So vast that all Ye Xing knew was that he was in the Southern Tang Country, one of over a hundred such nations on the Martial Arts Continent. There are too many powerful experts; without sufficient strength, it’s impossible to gain a foothold. I’m not content with being ordinary. I want to build my own power, to rise above the common man. At the very least, I need to reach the Peak of the Southern Tang Country as soon as possible, to become someone no one dares to ignore. If I can get an expert from the Wind and Cloud List like Gao Zhisong on my side, the Ye Mansion’s power will increase dramatically. At least in Sunset City, or even the entire Red Sun Province, almost no one will dare to provoke us.’
After returning to the Ye Mansion, Ye Xing settled Gao Zhisong in the West Guest Room. He then went to the Training Room to focus on his Cultivation.
Back at the Thousand-Year-Old Banyan Tree, a large number of Martial Artists had been killed in the explosion. Since the Thunder Heart Spring Wood was already gone, the remaining fighters had all departed from White Cloud Mountain.
There had been two pieces of "Thunder Heart Spring Wood." One was taken by Fu Yifan, the Cross Breaking Sword, and the other was snatched by another Martial Artist. The Martial Artists of the Martial Arts Continent had never seen the light of an electric lamp, so it was clear that the two who had obtained the "Thunder Heart Spring Wood" wouldn’t realize they were fakes anytime soon. But even if they did, it would be useless. They were stuck taking the blame.
It was foreseeable that in the coming days, the entire Red Sun Province would be plunged into a storm of blood.
...
The night sky was a black cloth drawn across the heavens. A crescent moon hung high like a scythe, casting down a grim, cold light.
In the hazy moonlight, the verdant grass swayed in the wind.
A man in hemp clothes, covered in blood and crisscrossed with wounds, was running with a pronounced limp across the grassland. Blood dripped from his legs, staining the grass red.
This gaunt man in hemp clothes was none other than Fu Yifan, the Cross Breaking Sword. In less than a day, from morning till night, he had been ambushed thirteen times. Each attack was more treacherous than the last, with an ever-increasing number of Martial Artists on his tail. Despite Fu Yifan’s profound Martial Arts, he was worn down to exhaustion, and his injuries were growing more severe.
’Damn it! Why are those people chasing me like rabid dogs? And there’s something wrong with the Thunder Heart Spring Wood—I can’t refine it at all. If I could, my injuries would have already healed, and I wouldn’t be in this sorry state. It’s strange... the Spiritual Treasure Light from the Thunder Heart Spring Wood is clearly powerful, so why can’t I refine it!’ Fu Yifan’s brow was deeply furrowed with worry.
As he ran, his expression suddenly changed. He came to an abrupt halt, his gaze fixed on the path ahead.
There, in the hazy moonlight, an old man was walking slowly toward him across the green grass.
If it were merely an old man in black robes walking toward him, Fu Yifan would not have been so terrified. What horrified him was that the soles of the old man’s shoes were three inches off the ground. His body surged with Qi Force as he glided forward, stepping only on the tips of the grass blades. He was using the famous Grass Flying Lightweight Skill, renowned throughout the martial world.
