My Invincible Defense: Traversing the Endless Worlds

[Volume 2] Chapter 25: The Two Beauties’ Double-Team

After discussing the details of the mission, Finn asked Avasarala, “Can Olivia Hill join the Spacetime Destruction Bureau? She possesses innate X-ray vision and has already embarked on the path of cultivation. Her future is limitless.”

“Olivia Hill? The little girl who’s always with you?” Avasarala thought for a moment before shaking her head. “She doesn’t qualify.”

“Why not?”

“We recruit people who have the Three Haves: ideals, ambition, and ability. Olivia Hill may have ability, but she has no ambition. Her only ideal is to stay with you forever. That doesn’t meet our requirements.”

“Uh…” Finn was confused. “Then why does Jimmy qualify? I’m not looking down on him, but he’s far too weak. He’s several tiers below Olivia.”

“Jimmy’s ideal is to become a dance master famous throughout the Endless Worlds. His ambition is to make everyone in the world fall in love with street dance. Not to mention, his potential is unparalleled. His ability is Laser Rain.”

As she spoke, Avasarala pressed her hands together above her head, brought the bases of her palms together, and began performing the “flower-hand” dance, rotating her hands while swaying her body.

Finn: “…”

“He also has a ballet ability.”

While speaking, Avasarala rose onto her toes like an elegant old swan and spun around once.

“He also has a Brazilian capoeira ability.”

Avasarala spread her arms and performed a flawless backflip.

Finn sighed inwardly. In the Spacetime Destruction Bureau, where oddballs were a dime a dozen, he had always thought Avasarala was the only normal person.

Apparently, he had been wrong.

“As I said, Jimmy’s potential is infinite and impossible to measure,” Avasarala concluded.

“But he needs more training and combat experience before he can unlock that potential and become a true powerhouse,” Finn objected.

“You’ve been away from the Bureau for too long; you don’t know about our policy. For members whose strength is insufficient, we arrange a matching cultivation program.”

“What’s Jimmy’s cultivation program?”

Finn suddenly had a bad feeling. Given the Spacetime Destruction Bureau’s usual style, Jimmy was definitely about to suffer.

Avasarala said calmly, “I’ve connected the world Jimmy lives in to a hell from another dimension. His world has now been invaded by devils and hell lords. Unless its inhabitants put up effective resistance, every one of them will die, and humanity will be wiped out.

“At the same time, I customized an Idol System for Jimmy. The more popular he becomes and the more fans he gains, the stronger he’ll become. Therefore, to save the world, Jimmy will debut as an idol.”

For a moment, Finn didn’t know what to say. He had read Jimmy’s profile. The environment in which Jimmy had originally lived could hardly have been more peaceful and prosperous.

Now, all of this had been arranged simply to increase his strength…

“Does Jimmy know that you were the one who pushed his world to the brink of destruction?” Finn couldn’t help asking.

“He knows.” Avasarala took a small sip of tea, completely unconcerned. “It’s a test for him.”

“All right.” Finn covered his forehead and could only pray that Jimmy would defeat the invading devils soon and close the gates of hell.

Avasarala tossed him something resembling an infrared thermometer.

“This is a Potential Scanner. When you go to the Marvel-DC world to search for suitable recruits, use it to test their potential first. If their potential is too low, leave them behind.”

Finn examined the Potential Scanner with curiosity. It was a pistol-shaped device with a rounded metal casing patterned in blue and white.

Its “muzzle” was an orange gemstone, and a small display screen was set into its body. When the gemstone was aimed at someone and the trigger was pulled, the screen would display that person’s potential.

“Try to find newcomers whose potential registers as infinite. We’d rather have no recruits than settle for mediocrity,” Avasarala instructed.

“I wonder what my own potential is like.” Finn aimed the Potential Scanner at himself, intending to give it a try.

“Don’t point that at yourself!” Avasarala shouted.

But it was already too late. Finn aimed the scanner’s muzzle at his own body and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

A blazing red sphere of light exploded with a thunderous roar. The Potential Scanner shattered into pieces. The blast shook the heavens and earth, and its force was so immense that it reduced Avasarala’s hundred-story building to ash.

Avasarala sighed helplessly. With a casual point of her finger, the building, reduced to ash, reappeared exactly as it had been.

“What was that about?” Finn asked in astonishment. “Why did it explode the moment I used it?”

“Your potential is too powerful. Even positive infinity isn’t enough to display it, so you exceeded the scanner’s measurement range. That’s why it exploded.” Avasarala explained patiently.

She gave Finn a meaningful look. “That was also why I recruited you into the Spacetime Destruction Bureau in the first place.”

“Am I really that amazing?” Finn was pleasantly surprised, though potential that couldn’t be converted into actual strength was ultimately meaningless.

Avasarala tossed him another Potential Scanner. “Use it well in World Alpha-EIGHT-S-94520256320. I believe you’ll be able to find talented newcomers and forge an entirely new future for the Spacetime Destruction Bureau.”

Finn caught the Potential Scanner. The mission details had also been sent to his personal email. He bid Avasarala farewell and returned to make preparations.

As he left Avasarala’s independent office planet, Finn thought about how she was a God Realm(Tier 9) powerhouse, yet had just performed the flower-hand dance, ballet, and backflips. He couldn’t help sighing inwardly.

“Looks like I’m the only normal person in the Spacetime Destruction Bureau.”

He stepped into the spacetime tunnel. At the same time, he took a lead-acid battery from his storage space, pressed one finger against its negative terminal, and sucked on the positive terminal with his lips. He drained the chemical energy inside the battery, converted it into Profound Energy, and stored it in his dantian.

…

Finn returned to his private villa in the Blackthorn Kingdom, Emberveil Continent, World Alpha-TWO-B-397690.

The enormous room was empty, with no sign of human presence.

Olivia was still cultivating at Flying Crane Academy in World Alpha-ONE-E-827365 and rarely returned. Whenever she did come home, however, she would be intimate with Finn and spend the entire night with him, easing the longing that had built up during their separation.

Finn stood alone in the spacious living room. The surroundings were utterly quiet, save for the faint hum of a robotic vacuum and the steady movements of a robot butler diligently cleaning the windows.

“Right. I should check on the new maids.”

With a thought, Finn took out the Spacetime Crystal Case containing Ishtar and Eresh.

He unsealed the case, and two alluring, fair-skinned young women appeared before him.

They were a beautiful and seductive pair—Ishtar and Eresh.

Finn hadn’t even decided what to say when Ishtar and Eresh pounced on him from either side, clinging tightly to his arms.

“Master!”

The two beautiful young women called out sweetly, their bright eyes gleaming with desire.

“Help us replenish our mana!”

“What does ‘replenish our mana’ mean?”

Finn was an innocent man. Even the porn comics he read were the pure-love kind, so how could he possibly know what replenishing mana meant?

Before he could figure it out, Ishtar and Eresh dragged him into the bedroom, where they spent the entire night replenishing their mana!
