Chapter 169: Chapter 117: Director Bai, Please Be on Your Way

"Grab your own hair."

Bai Lang’s pupils shrank, and his heart felt as if it were being squeezed by an icy hand.

But he did not hesitate. Trembling, he raised his right hand.

He grabbed the short hair on his head and clenched his fist tight.

The next moment!

He didn’t even see Commander Bai make a move, only a demonic red light that flashed before his eyes, faster than the limits of his vision.

A chill on his neck.

It felt as though wind was blowing through his trachea.

His vision began to spin and turn upside down.

Bai Lang saw a familiar, headless body still kneeling where he had been, blood gushing from the neck cavity like a fountain.

It splattered red across the expensive carpet and onto the head clutched in the corpse’s hands—a head with its eyes wide, frozen in horror and bewilderment.

’Oh, that’s... my head.’

That was his final thought.

At some point, Commander Bai had appeared beside the gushing blood, holding the same glass of red wine from before.

He elegantly tilted the glass. Fresh, warm heart’s blood, still pulsing with the final throes of life, fell Precisely into the cup.

It mixed with the dark red liquid, swirling and blending until it took on an even deeper, almost bewitching, dark crimson hue.

Commander Bai raised the glass, examining it in the faint light of the hearth.

Then, he brought it to his lips and drained it in a single motion.

The scarlet liquid stained the corners of his mouth, and he slowly extended his tongue to lick it away.

His gaze fell upon Bai Lang’s corpse, still kneeling as it clutched its own head, and his voice was laced with a hint of annoyance:

"I told you to come with your head in hand. You could have just carried it in.

All that useless talk just made me angrier."

As his voice faded, the headless corpse seemed to finally receive its last command.

The fingers clutching the hair went slack, and the head dropped onto the carpet with a THUD, rolling twice.

The body then crashed to its side, sending up a cloud of dust.

The moment the corpse fell, the door was silently pushed open.

Two expressionless guards entered, completely ignoring the bloody scene before them.

One took the shoulders, the other the feet, and they expertly carried the headless body away.

Immediately after, three others entered with buckets, cloths, and a new carpet, and began to clean with silent efficiency.

They washed away the blood, replaced the carpet, and sprinkled fragrant powder to cover the odor.

In less than an hour, the room was restored to its original pristine state.

The air was warm and fragrant, as if nothing had happened.

Only the faintest, ineradicable scent of iron hung in the air.

Commander Bai had already returned to the sofa and poured himself another glass of wine.

Two new men now stood before him.

One was lean and powerful, with eyes as sharp as an eagle’s.

His aura was contained, yet it radiated danger. This was the commander of the Leopard Camp, Bai Bao.

The other was much taller and more imposing, with bulging, knotted muscles.

Even standing still, he exuded an oppressive, ferocious energy. This was the commander of the Tiger Camp, Bai Hu.

Bai Bao spoke first, his voice as cold and hard as metal:

"Commander, allow me to go to Yin Mountain County.

I will clean up the mess that worthless Bai Lang left behind."

A bloodthirsty excitement flashed in his eyes.

"And as for the Lu Family, since they’re in the way, I’ll just wipe them out while I’m there."

Commander Bai gently swirled his wine, watching the vortex in the glass as he slowly shook his head.

"The Lu Family... those little ants have become rather tiresome."

His tone was indifferent, completely devoid of anger.

"But one can crush an ant at any time. For now, there are more important matters."

Commander Bai looked up, his gaze falling upon Bai Hu. "What of the Spirit Nest? What is the status of the reconnaissance?"

Bai Hu replied in a deep voice.

His tone was exceptionally strange, like a sound no human could possibly make.

"I have investigated. The Spirit Nest is indeed located in the heart of the Canglan River."

"The area is truly a convergence point for Spirit Veins and would be of immense benefit to my Tiger Camp soldiers."

"In all other aspects, it is more or less as recorded in the Ancient Texts."

After hearing Bai Hu’s report, Commander Bai nodded. "In that case, it seems the legends of Longevity are not entirely groundless."
