My Milf Tamer System

Chapter 173: The Orange Cat Revelation

**Sarah:** Okay so Chelsea and I just spent twenty minutes trying to assemble a bookshelf from Target and the instructions are in Swedish and neither of us speaks Swedish and I think we built it backwards. Send help. Or a Swedish translator. Or wine.

**Aurora:** The instructions are actually pictographic. The Swedish text is supplementary. Panel A connects to Panel B using dowel 4. You have Panel A connected to Panel C, which is why it’s backwards. Reverse the orientation and insert the dowels at 45-degree angles.

**Sarah:** How do you know what our bookshelf looks like?

**Aurora:** I identified the product from your Target receipt, which Chelsea photographed and texted to her mother at 3:47 PM asking for help. I accessed the assembly manual digitally and cross-referenced it with your photo. The bookshelf is a Better Homes and Gardens 3-Shelf Bookcase, model 8271409. The average assembly time is 23 minutes. You’ve been at it for 20 minutes. You’re within normal parameters.

**Sarah:** You’re either the most helpful person I’ve ever met or the most terrifying.

**Aurora:** Those aren’t mutually exclusive.

**Sarah:** Fair. Also, look at this meme Chelsea found. [IMAGE ATTACHED]

**Aurora:** That’s a photograph of a cat wearing a tiny hat. The hat appears to be crocheted. The cat’s expression suggests profound existential regret. This is excellent.

**Sarah:** RIGHT? She found it on Reddit. We’ve been laughing for ten minutes.

**Aurora:** The cat does not find it funny. But I do. Thank you for sharing.

*Sarah is sending Aurora memes. My former assistant, my 92% companion, is texting my sentient System entity memes of cats in hats and Aurora is responding with analysis of the cat’s existential state and calling it excellent. They’re becoming friends. Through memes.*

Elena received the 7 PM report. She sat at the kitchen table with her tablet and her red pen and read Aurora’s summary with the focused attention of a woman reviewing intelligence briefings.

"Victoria’s searches shifted toward hope today. Her residue on ’am I making the right decision’ carried less desperation. More curiosity. She’s transitioning from seeking permission to seeking confirmation." Elena made a note. "Yuki’s genmaicha ratio increased. Anxiety about Kenji. But she also ordered new books for her class. The anxiety and the hope are coexisting."

"What about Sarah?"

"Sarah texted Aurora memes for forty minutes. Her residue is the most stable of anyone in the harem. She’s genuinely happy. Not performing. Not seeking. Just happy." Elena looked up. "Chelsea’s residue is also stable. Comfortable. She watched three movie trailers today and her emotional state during each one was ’mild interest, no anxiety.’ She’s the calmest person in your network."

"She’s not in the network."

"She’s in your life. That’s the network." Elena capped her pen. "Tomorrow I want alerts on Victoria’s search patterns. If she searches anything about going back to Greg, I need to know immediately."

"You think she would?"

"I think divorce does strange things to people at 2 AM. I think Victoria is strong but she’s also lonely in a new apartment with a new couch and a divorce that won’t be final for six months. I think loneliness makes people reconsider decisions they shouldn’t reconsider. I want to catch her before she falls."

*She’s building a safety net for Victoria. Not because Victoria asked. Not because I asked. Because Elena Vance cannot exist in a world where someone might fall and she didn’t see it coming. She’s turning Aurora’s surveillance into a guardian system. Not for control. For care. The Ice Queen is building an emotional safety net through digital omnipresence and color-coded spreadsheets.*

"Good work today," Elena said. To Aurora. Not to Lucas. "Tomorrow we refine the alert thresholds. The yellow zone is too broad. I need specificity."

"I’ll adjust the parameters," Aurora replied. "Elena."

"Yes?"

"Thank you for this. For treating me like a colleague. Not a tool."

"You’re not a tool. Tools don’t develop preferences for orange cats." Elena closed her tablet. "You’re a person. Persons get colleagues. That’s how it works."

*Aurora just got called a person by Elena Vance. The woman who Febrezed my couch and color-coded my sex life and considers emotional expression a security vulnerability just validated my System’s personhood. Elena doesn’t do warmth. She does operational acknowledgment that happens to feel like warmth. Aurora knows the difference. She’s learning that Elena’s version of ’good work’ is the same as anyone else’s ’I love you.’*

June 24th. Diana’s Penthouse. 11:23 PM.

The phone call came during dinner. Not Lucas’s dinner with Elena at their kitchen table, the Wednesday pasta ritual she’d established because carbohydrates were non-negotiable. Diana’s call. The specific ringtone that sounded like a cash register because he’d thought he was funny three years ago and now it just made him anxious.

Elena looked at the phone. Looked at him. Set down her fork.

"Answer it. She doesn’t call at 11 PM unless something’s on fire."

He answered. Diana’s voice came through with the particular cadence of a woman who’d been holding herself together for hours and was now allowing exactly one crack.

"Emergency meeting. My penthouse. Now. Bring Elena."

"We’re eating."

"You’ll wish you’d eaten more when you hear what I have to say. Bring the pasta if you need to. Just come."

**Diana Blackwood, Brief Recall:** Forty-five. Silver-streaked dark hair. Ice-blue eyes. Tall, lean, the body of a woman who ran empires and occasionally ran on a treadmill she’d never admit to owning. Tonight, when they arrived, she was in a robe. Not the post-sex robe. The crisis robe. The one she wore when the world was doing something she hadn’t authorized and she needed comfort fabric while she strategized.

The penthouse smelled like scotch and printer ink. Papers spread across the coffee table. Stock charts. Financial reports. Newspaper clippings printed from websites because Diana Blackwood still printed things when she wanted to hold them and circle them with red pen and stare at them until they made sense.

"Blackwood Industries is under attack," she said without preamble. No greeting. No offer of drinks. The particular directness of a woman who’d been circling data for three days and had finally found the pattern.

**Meridian Capital.** The name appeared on eleven of the documents. Red circles. Arrows. Annotations in Diana’s handwriting. The handwriting of a woman whose pen pressure increased with her stress level.

"Hostile takeover bid. Started six weeks ago. Small position acquisitions. Nothing that triggered alerts individually. But aggregated, they’ve built a 14% stake. They’re positioning for a proxy fight at the next shareholder meeting."

"Who’s behind Meridian?"

"That’s the problem. Meridian Capital is a private equity firm. Shell companies layered three deep. I’ve had my legal team tracing ownership for two weeks. They hit walls everywhere." She grabbed a specific document. Handed it to Elena. "But the real issue isn’t the acquisition. It’s the timing."

Elena read. Her gray eyes scanning. Her pen appearing from somewhere. She always had a pen.

"Every move they make is countered before you make it," Elena said. Not a question. An observation.

"Every single one. I planned a dividend increase to strengthen shareholder loyalty. They shorted the stock three hours before the announcement. The dip erased the goodwill the dividend would’ve created. I restructured a division to improve margins. They leaked a rumor about layoffs the same day. The stock dropped 4%."

"Twelve percent in two weeks," Lucas said. Reading the chart.

"Twelve percent. And every recovery I attempt is preempted. Someone is reading the market. Not analyzing it. Reading it. Like reading a person’s emotions. They know what I’m going to do before I do it because they can feel the market’s response before the market knows it’s responding."

```
?? ALERT: SUPERNATURAL THREAT DETECTED
Pattern Analysis:
→ Hostile takeover bid with perfect timing
→ Stock manipulation through preemptive strikes
→ Counter-moves appear before moves are made
→ Market sentiment appears to be artificially influenced
