Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Li Ye’s Plans for the Future

On the second day of his transmigration, Li Ye already had a group of loyal supporters of his own.

Or rather, he had established a faction of his own.

This didn’t make Li Ye proud; instead, it raised his vigilance. Because the ease with which he established himself in the Otherworld didn’t match the terrifying mortality rate of Time Travelers. He couldn’t possibly be hoarding all the luck in the world.

He still had a hidden enemy—a demon of an unknown breed—along with all sorts of Otherworldly People. After all, human nature was the most complex. Just because the people in front of him were easy to fool didn’t mean everyone in the Otherworld would be. He hadn’t even encountered an Innate Master or Grandmaster yet! Therefore, he needed to be extra cautious in everything he did from now on. Better safe than sorry.

At dawn, everyone relocated to Crane Peak Mountain. It was the closest place to Cangsong Ridge and Fan Jie’s territory.

Rather than calling Crane Peak Mountain a Sect, it was more like a family-run business. The most formidable figures here were its master, Fan Jie, and his wife. They had about a dozen disciples under their command. Three were their biological children, one was an adopted son, and the rest were recruits from the outside.

Fan Jie’s wife was named Yuan Ling. She knew exactly what her husband had been out doing, so when Fan Jie returned to Crane Peak Mountain with a large group of wounded people, she turned pale with fright.

Shi Xiang was a disciple of Grandmaster Huaiyi. No matter how accustomed those in the Martial World were to living on the edge of a blade, they couldn’t afford to expose themselves so blatantly! This was no different from courting death.

Fan Jie pulled her aside, gave her a brief rundown of yesterday’s events, and showed off the results of his cultivation of the Dragon Emperor Spell. Yuan Ling’s eyes lit up immediately. All her anger vanished, and she happily went to prepare food for everyone.

Wealth and danger went hand in hand. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have thought about snatching the Dragon Emperor Spell in the first place. Now, by a stroke of luck, they had managed to cling to an Immortal’s thigh. What more could they ask for? It was well worth risking their lives!

Li Ye didn’t care about the opinions of the family members. With a wave of his hand, he assigned them all to logistics. He was a man with clear plans and goals. From beginning to end, he only had one goal—to survive for a year.

The prerequisite for survival was improving his own strength. To do that, he needed to familiarize himself with the demonic item’s mechanics and develop Derived Skills. Other than that, everything else was secondary, including the Time Traveler missions. He already had a copy of the Dragon Emperor Spell anyway. As long as he made it back alive, the trip wouldn’t be in vain.

After Yuan Ling finished cooking, everyone else dug in greedily, but Li Ye didn’t eat a single bite. Demon Qi was a very special kind of energy that had directly pushed him into the Fasting stage. As long as they carried a demonic item and were permeated by Demon Qi, most Time Travelers didn’t need to eat. This also reduced their risk of food poisoning.

Neither eating nor sleeping, yet remaining full of vigor, thoroughly cemented Li Ye’s identity as an Immortal.

After everyone finished eating, Li Ye organized them into two teams and held a scrimmage. Every participant was in high spirits, playing their hearts out on the field in an attempt to catch Li Ye’s attention. The competition was fierce. Everyone resorted to every trick in the book, making the match highly entertaining to watch.

Li Ye, however, lacked interest.

He had discovered that an intra-squad match didn’t increase his total amount of Demon Qi. The reason he cultivated the Dragon Emperor Spell so quickly was due to the Demon Qi in his body; the speed of his cultivation was directly proportional to his total Demon Qi. Without an increase in Demon Qi, his Inner Strength cultivation speed would slow down.

With another demon hanging over his head like the Sword of Damocles, Li Ye wasn’t satisfied with his current cultivation speed. He wished he could become a Grandmaster in three days and dominate the world in ten!

After two days of testing, Li Ye had roughly figured out some ways to use the football club’s Team Emblem. While other demonic items granted Demon Hunters immense power upon use, the Team Emblem was different. It could bestow Demon Qi upon others, helping them improve their abilities. This seemed to be the proper way to use a team-based demonic item.

Through this match, Li Ye confirmed his hypothesis from yesterday. Touching the football with one’s hands did indeed inflict a forced bodily stiffness on the rule-breaker. It was likely a penalty for the foul, presenting an exploitable loophole. Handling the ball was a foul, but playing dirty wasn’t. He had to admit, the mechanics of this demonic item were truly intriguing.

After the match between the two teams ended, Li Ye announced the formation of the Fun People Club’s Second Team.

Immediately after, the Demon Qi within his body surged significantly, and the members of the Second Team were also bestowed with Demon Qi by the Team Emblem. Instantly, morale soared as more people cheered and jumped for joy.

Previously, Li Ye’s Spiritual Power could only cover ten people. Now, after just one night, it covered more than twenty. This proved his strength was recovering. The rapid speed of his recovery gave everyone confidence. No one in the club was a fool. Given how arrogant Li Ye was, it was only a matter of time before he clashed with Innate Masters and Grandmasters. The faster he recovered his strength, the safer they all would be.

The renewed growth of Demon Qi following the Second Team’s creation further convinced Li Ye that he was heading in the right direction. Perhaps he really needed to organize a league in this world to expand his influence before he could awaken the demonic item’s Derived Skills.

Li Ye was a man of swift and decisive action. Setting his thoughts into motion, he immediately summoned everyone for a meeting.

"Look at yourselves, getting this thrilled over a measly Second Team. You all look like you’ve never seen the world," Li Ye mocked disdainfully as he looked at the group, who were grinning from ear to ear.

"Lord Li, we aren’t happy about the Second Team. We’re happy that your strength is recovering!" Liu Guangsheng chuckled.

"Covering a mere twenty-something people with Spiritual Power—how is that a recovery?" Li Ye shook his head. "Haven’t you noticed that intra-squad matches do absolutely nothing for Spiritual Power growth? Spiritual Power is linked to the Power of Faith. Only by expanding our influence will my strength recover faster, which in turn will increase the Spiritual Power in your bodies."

"Lord Li, just tell us what you plan to do, and we’ll follow your orders," Shi Xiang said seriously.

The others grew eager for action. They, too, had tasted the sweet benefits. The Dragon Emperor Spell had extremely high requirements for aptitude. Yet last night, all the team members whose bodies had been altered by Demon Qi successfully initiated their cultivation of the Dragon Emperor Spell, and their progress wasn’t slow either.

"We strike out and make the Fun People Club known to more people." Lord Li waved his hand. "The First and Second Teams will split into two groups. Using Crane Peak Mountain as our base, we’ll challenge other dojos under the guise of friendly exchanges. Don’t spare a single Sect in the surrounding area."

Everyone was stunned.

Fan Jie asked, "Lord Li, we can split up?"

"Of course." Li Ye nodded. "You can’t expect me to tag along for every little thing you do, right?"

"Lord Li, what I mean is, if we operate separately from you, our Spiritual Power won’t disappear?" Fan Jie explained with an awkward smile.

"It won’t disappear. In fact, it will increase as your influence expands," Li Ye said. "If you can make a name for yourselves and get more people to know you, your Spiritual Power will grow even faster."

Yu Fei’s eyes lit up. "Lord Li, does ’name’ refer to our reputation in the Martial World?"

"It refers to the reputation you generate through our matches," Li Ye said, sweeping his gaze across the crowd. "Your Spiritual Power is bestowed by me through the club. Therefore, everything you do must naturally relate to the club’s matches. The number of beheadings you achieve during a match, or a signature, exquisite move of yours becoming widely known—all of these count toward your reputation.

"For example, Liu Guangsheng. If, during a match, you use the same slide tackle to snap ten different people’s shins, and word of it spreads, couldn’t you earn the title of ’Leg-Breaking Fiend’? Or Shi Xiang—if you manage to smash the ball into your opponents’ faces time and time again in a single match, couldn’t you earn the title of ’Face-Smashing Fiend’?

"These specific titles will all aid in cultivating your Spiritual Power."

"Lord Li, must the title include the word ’Fiend’?" Liu Guangsheng asked.

"Of course not. I just thought ’Fiend’ sounded more domineering," Li Ye smiled. "If you have a suitable niche in mind, you can absolutely develop yourselves according to your own ideas.

"Naturally, relying purely on matches will spread your names too slowly. You can apply some appropriate artificial intervention. For instance, you could hire storytellers in teahouses and taverns to publicize your deeds, or find people in the Martial World to secretly spread rumors. That way, your reputation will grow much faster."

Yu Fei smacked his lips. "The method of cultivating Spiritual Power is truly unconventional."

"Just like Immortals vying for incense offerings, the cultivation of Spiritual Power relies on vying for influence," Li Ye chuckled. "Why do you think my strength is so formidable? Isn’t it all thanks to my title as the ’Timely Rain’ and the sheer domineering presence of being ranked sixth on the wanted list?"
