My Monster Derived Skills Are the Orthodox Ones
Chapter 19: Angry Gongsun Jie
Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Angry Gongsun Jie
"Cao Bin, what is the meaning of this?" Gongsun Jie held a promotional brochure in his hand. His face was as dark as a thundercloud, and the look he gave Cao Bin was filled with rage—even his pupils were trembling.
"M-Master, I... I don’t know either!" Cao Bin stammered, his mind entirely blank.
Lord Li had only told him to trick his master into coming down the mountain to discuss joining the Fun People Club. He had genuinely thought it was a good thing. After all, the Fun People Club was an organization of cultivators; perhaps it could even lead to Ascension.
But he never expected Lord Li to put on such a massive spectacle.
This was clearly the Fun People Club trying to climb to power over his master’s dead body. This was clearly a deadly trap meant to doom him!
"You don’t know?" Gongsun Jie’s eyes seemed to pierce right through Cao Bin’s soul.
Thinking back on it, Cao Bin’s recent words and actions had indeed been highly irregular. Gongsun Jie had simply trusted his eldest disciple too much, causing him to overlook those details.
Cao Bin’s scalp went numb under his master’s piercing gaze. Thinking fast, he blurted out an excuse. "Master, perhaps I accidentally exposed my tracks and was seen through by that Lord Li. They must be using my scheme against me to force you to retreat! They are definitely terrified of you..."
"Hmph!"
Gongsun Jie scoffed furiously and threw the promotional brochure right at Cao Bin’s face. "Does this look like they’re terrified of me? They are practically shitting on my head!"
Fine beads of sweat broke out on Cao Bin’s forehead. "Master, since they’ve insulted you so severely, it is all the more reason to slaughter these insolent buffoons to the last man."
Before he could finish his sentence, a crisp shout echoed from outside the window. "Gongsun Jie has arrived in Weining City! The official match will be held either today or tomorrow! Remaining seats in Sirius Valley are limited, buy them while you still can!"
Gongsun Jie and Cao Bin both fell dead silent.
"You’ve really done it this time, Cao Bin. I had no idea that raising you for twenty years would produce a traitor to the Master’s Sect." Gongsun Jie glared at him, his hair and beard bristling with fury, the muscles in his face twitching.
Cursing Li Ye inwardly for screwing him over, Cao Bin fell to his knees with a heavy THUD. With a miserable expression, he pleaded, "Master, it really wasn’t me! Either the Fun People Club has eyes and ears everywhere, or that Lord Li truly possesses some sort of wicked Divine Abilities.
"Master, I’ve followed you for so many years; do you still not know my character? Everything I said was true! Fan Jie’s injuries really did heal entirely in just two or three days. If this matter weren’t of such grave importance, I would never have specially invited you down the mountain!"
Taking a deep breath, Gongsun Jie looked in the direction of Sirius Valley. His eyes narrowed into slits, his expression as dark as still water. "Fine. I want to see exactly how capable this Fun People Club is, to dare try climbing to power over my name."
He ignored Cao Bin and strode toward Sirius Valley. Without any extraneous movements, a simple step propelled him over ten meters forward. His speed was so astonishingly fast that it looked like Instant Teleportation.
Cao Bin scrambled to his feet, channeling his full Skill Level to chase after his master. He had already lost all of Gongsun Jie’s trust. If the Fun People Club lost this time, he would truly be left with nothing.
Therefore, he had to reach Sirius Valley even if it killed him.
After all, he was the eldest disciple of the Profound Light Sect and understood his master’s temperament better than anyone. At a critical moment, he might be able to intervene, allowing his master to personally experience the formidable power of Spiritual Power. That might be enough to change Gongsun Jie’s opinion of the Fun People Club.
Deep down, he genuinely didn’t want anything bad to happen to Li Ye. After all, that was tied to his own future. Who wouldn’t want to see a higher-level civilization?
At the entrance of Sirius Valley, a bustling crowd of people filed continuously into the gorge, joyful smiles beaming on every face.
Rows of bright red banners hung high above the Mountain Gate. They read: "Galactic Federation Planet Cup Champions League: Fun Seekers VS Profound Light Sect."
The sides were also lined with banners:
"Wishing the Fun People Club complete success in their inaugural match! — Xiangyun Tea House"
"May the valiant warriors of the Fun People Club win victory in their first battle! — Hongfu Restaurant"
"Sweeping Thousand Armies, none compare to the Fun Seekers! — Fengmingxuan Silk Shop"
Gongsun Jie had excellent eyesight and could clearly read the words on the banners from afar. Consequently, his face darkened even further.
At this moment, Gongsun Jie felt like a clown on a stage, put on display for others’ amusement. Filled with towering rage, he had completely lost his cool. Only one thought remained in his mind: to tear up the Fun People Club by the roots and leave no one alive.
Nothing less than massacring them all would quell the fury in his heart.
Just as Gongsun Jie was about to storm into Sirius Valley, a voice suddenly rang out from the side of the road. "Elder Gongsun, please wait."
Gongsun Jie turned to look, only to see a handsome young Knight accompanied by a pretty female Knight. He asked in a deep voice, "Who are you?"
"Please calm your anger, Elder Gongsun. We are not with Sirius Valley." The young man hurriedly bowed. "This junior is Zhong Wenhao from the Qingcheng Sect, and beside me is my junior martial sister Zhu Zhirou. Our master is Master Taiyu. Five years ago, we accompanied our master to the Profound Light Sect and had the honor of meeting you."
"Taiyu’s disciples?" Gongsun Jie paused for a moment before asking, "For what reason have you stopped me?" His mood had been completely ruined by Sirius Valley, leaving him with absolutely no desire to catch up. Naturally, his tone was far from friendly.
"Elder Gongsun, the Fun People Club has committed countless atrocities. They are wantonly extorting wealth and oppressing the common people in your name. They are truly a gang of lawless villains," Zhong Wenhao said. "My junior sister and I have traveled through the Martial World to reach this place, and we wish to lend you a helping hand to exterminate the evil within Sirius Valley together."
Gongsun Jie looked at the righteous Zhong Wenhao and his junior sister, inexplicably reminded of his own disappointing disciple. A pang of heartache struck him. He took a deep breath and dispensed with any pleasantries. "Very well. Follow behind me and cull any that slip through the net. Do not let a single thief escape."
"Yes, Elder Gongsun."
Zhong Wenhao and Zhu Zhirou exchanged a glance, their eyes sparkling with excitement.
They had barely set foot in the Martial World, yet they had already encountered such a major event and even managed to forge a connection with the Sect Leader of the Profound Light Sect. Waiting here specifically for Gongsun Jie for the past two days had certainly paid off.
When they became true Knights in the future, this would serve as an excellent bragging right and a powerful connection!
Having stirred up such a massive spectacle, Li Ye had yet to awaken any Derived Skills, but his body had been heavily permeated by Demon Qi. His physique had long since been altered beyond that of a normal human, granting him truly exceptional hearing and sight.
By now, his hearing was nearly on par with the Night Demon Hero. As long as he wanted to, his auditory range could completely cover the entirety of Sirius Valley.
His vision was even more absurd. He could tell the gender of a fly from two kilometers away.
As for Inner Strength, with the supplemental cultivation of Demon Qi, Li Ye had no idea how profound his own Inner Strength had become. Even without the aid of a soccer ball, he could easily sweep the floor with every member of the club, Shi Xiang included.
He had long since mastered the Dragon Emperor Spell. However, the tier of the Dragon Emperor Spell didn’t seem high enough; relying on this Secret Manual probably wouldn’t allow one to touch the Grandmaster realm.
But Li Ye didn’t take this to heart. He was a Time Traveler, not a local native. His growth relied on Demon Qi. In just over ten days, he had already grown to such heights. Give him a little more time to build up the club’s reputation, and he might very well be able to go toe-to-toe with a Grandmaster.
As long as he took down a Grandmaster, wouldn’t the Secret Manuals in their hands become his? He still had plenty of time remaining in this world, so there was no need to rush.
After receiving Cao Bin’s message, Li Ye had spent the past two days standing guard at the entrance to Sirius Valley, waiting for Gongsun Jie’s arrival.
Starting from yesterday, construction within Sirius Valley had long been halted. The majority of the audience had also been invited into the valley, and were simply waiting for the match to begin.
The planning for this match had been a great success.
The only flaw was the inability to pinpoint the exact time of their opponent’s arrival. He would have to find a way to improve this in the future.
From a distance, Li Ye spotted Gongsun Jie sprinting toward Sirius Valley, leaving a trail of dust in his wake. He originally thought there wouldn’t be enough time for the audience to take their seats, but to his surprise, two Young Heroes jumped out halfway and intercepted him.
This gave him the perfect opportunity to make arrangements. Overjoyed, Li Ye immediately notified the club members inside the valley to have the audience take their seats. He would figure out a way to stall Gongsun Jie a little longer, striving to give the audience the best possible viewing experience.
