Chapter 259: Chapter 113: Bizarre Ancient Tomb
"Whew... Time really flies!"
Lin Yi stood before the gates of Yang City No. 1 High School.
Gazing at the familiar campus grounds, he couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.
He had left for the Provincial City in early March to attend a training camp.
Forty days had passed.
It was now mid-April.
The warm midday sun shone down on him, chasing away the last of the early spring chill and bringing with it a long-missed sense of familiarity.
It was lunchtime on campus.
Crowds of students bustled about, their youthful energy palpable in the air.
Students in black Martial Arts Uniforms walked in twos and threes, chatting and laughing as they headed purposefully toward the cafeteria.
The air was filled with the aroma of food and the clamor of teenage boys and girls.
Lin Yi’s figure stood out in the crowd, exceptionally straight and tall.
His eyes swept over the younger female students chasing each other and playing around. The carefree smiles on their faces stirred something within him.
"Youth is a wonderful thing!"
A faint smile touched his lips, tinged with the wistfulness of someone who had been through it all.
This kind of leisure was something only the first and second-year students could enjoy on campus these days.
The fate-deciding college entrance exams were less than two months away.
For every third-year student, time was more precious than gold; not a single second could be wasted.
Lin Yi focused his mind and quickened his pace.
He strode swiftly toward the principal’s office.
Of the three mysterious Pre-Qin tombs in the Yang City area, two were firmly under the control of the Education Bureau.
If he wanted to secure a precious spot to explore them, Chen Zhenguo, a veteran Martial Artist, was undoubtedly the best bridge to the Education Bureau.
’I hope the principal can help me out.’
As the thought arose, the Qi and Blood in Lin Yi’s body stirred. The muscles in his legs tensed in an instant, and his Thunder Light Intent silently enveloped his feet.
In a flash, his entire body seemed to transform into a blurry afterimage, weaving through the gaps in the bustling crowd at an astonishing speed, kicking up a faint whisper of wind.
He shot straight toward the stately faculty building deeper inside the campus.
The scenery along the way blurred past him.
Only a few perceptive students were left behind, rubbing their eyes in confusion.
...
"Huh? Just now... did you guys see that?"
A few students from Class 3-1 were walking to the cafeteria together.
One of them, a boy with glasses, stopped abruptly. He pointed in the direction Lin Yi had disappeared, his face a mask of shock and doubt.
"I think... I think I just saw Lin Yi?"
"Lin Yi?"
A stout boy next to him scoffed and slapped his shoulder.
"Are you kidding me? You must be dizzy from hunger. Isn’t Lin Yi at that elite training camp in the Provincial City? I heard it was supposed to last fifty days. How long has it been? Just over forty! How could he possibly be back now?"
"Yeah, seriously!"
Another student, a tall girl, chimed in.
"You and Lin Yi are just nodding acquaintances, right? What, are you missing him so much you’re starting to see things? Hahaha!"
"Sigh, I’m so jealous of Lin Yi."
The boy with glasses sighed, pushing up the frame on his nose. His tone was thick with longing.
"He was already our school’s genius, and now that he’s back from the training camp in the Provincial City, his strength must have reached a whole new level! For him, getting into one of the top ten universities in the college entrance exams will be a piece of cake. Tsk, comparisons are odious."
"Jealous of him? Give me a break!"
The stout boy rolled his eyes.
"Someone like Lin Yi is a monster-level genius; we could never hope to catch up to him in this lifetime. If you’re going to be jealous of someone, be jealous of Liu Yang! That guy quietly broke through and became a First-Grade Martial Artist! He’s the second Martial Artist in our school! Now *that’s* a tangible goal! When do you think I’ll be able to cross that threshold and become a real Martial Artist?"
"Oh, come on, stop daydreaming. Let’s hurry up and eat. We have Cultivation in the Martial Dao room this afternoon!" the tall girl urged.
The group continued toward the cafeteria, chatting and laughing, putting the afterimage they had seen out of their minds.
...
On the top floor of the faculty building, behind a large mahogany desk in the principal’s office, Chen Zhenguo was beaming, his face flushed with a smile that seemed ready to overflow.
Standing before him was Liu Yang, who had just broken through to the First-Grade Martial Artist Realm.
"Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Liu Yang, well done! Breaking through to become a First-Grade Martial Artist is a joyous occasion!"
Chen Zhenguo repeated the word "excellent" three times, his voice booming with gratification.
"The college entrance exams are two months away, and these next two months are crucial! You must settle your mind, focus on your Cultivation, and solidify your realm to strive for further progress! If you encounter any difficulties in your Cultivation, come find me anytime. From now on, you don’t need to attend classes with your grade. I will personally guide you!"
Chen Zhenguo was bursting with joy internally.
This year’s graduating class had given him a massive surprise!
First, there was a prodigy like Lin Yi.
Now, even Liu Yang had successfully advanced to the Martial Artist Realm.
Two Martial Artist students!
Yang City No. 1 High School was finally on the rise!
This year’s college entrance exam results would be absolutely stellar!
At this thought, the smile on his face deepened.
"Thank you, Principal! I will redouble my efforts and live up to your expectations and the school’s investment in me!"
Liu Yang straightened his back, trying his best to appear calm and dependable.
But deep in his eyes, he couldn’t hide the excitement and smugness that came with his recent breakthrough.
"Good. That fighting spirit is what matters!"
Chen Zhenguo said encouragingly,
"With your current strength, if you perform well, it might be difficult to get into the top ten universities, but you have a very strong chance of getting into a top-tier Martial Dao university! It’s a pity, though..."
His tone shifted, tinged with a hint of regret.
"If you had broken through two months earlier, you might have gotten the same opportunity as Lin Yi to go to the training camp in the Provincial City. That place is incredibly beneficial for the improvement of Early Stage Martial Artists."
