My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 352: With Me Here, Don't Be Afraid
After all, nothing was more important than his wife.
If Su Miaoke were to face any danger, Chu Feng wouldn't give a damn about their so-called rules. He would intervene directly.
"Hmph, I've already made up my mind. I'm going to use this Martial Arts Grand Ceremony to really improve my strength and get some combat experience," Su Miaoke said, her face full of anticipation. She was all prepared.
"That's not a bad idea," Chu Feng said with a smile. "But with your level of strength, you probably won't last more than a few matches. You're not going to gain much combat experience that way."
A Cultivator of Su Miaoke's caliber was decent enough under normal circumstances.
But at the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony, she was completely out of her league. She'd probably be defeated moments after stepping onto the stage.
So as not to crush Su Miaoke's enthusiasm, Chu Feng didn't say this out loud.
"Hmph, you're always like this! Not only do you not encourage me, but you always say things like that," Su Miaoke huffed, playfully punching Chu Feng's chest in frustration.
"Hahaha! Oh, of course my wife is amazing. Why don't you go and win first place for me? I'd wake up laughing in my sleep," Chu Feng chuckled.
The "first place" Chu Feng was referring to was, of course, first place in one of the tournament's regions.
The Martial Arts Grand Ceremony on the Big Snow Plateau was divided into the Four Major Regions.
The plateau was split into four sections—north, south, east, and west. In the center stood two Martial Arts Venerable Halls, responsible for overseeing security.
The top ten contestants from each region would be determined, and they would then advance to the finals.
In truth, the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony was originally intended as a platform for the major powers of the Martial Arts Realm to spar with one another. It was also a chance for the Major Sects and families to test the strength of their own disciples. Those who performed exceptionally would naturally be looked upon with favor, perhaps even being taken on as a personal disciple.
Of course, it was exceptionally rare for a disciple to be accepted in such an unconventional manner.
Over the years, the original purpose of the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony had slowly changed. Now, it was a competition for resources.
The top-ranking participants would not only receive abundant Cultivation Resources but could even earn a favor from a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert.
The rewards were originally intended to motivate everyone, consisting of various Cultivation Resources, Cultivation Techniques, and other such things provided by the Sects of the Great Snow Mountain.
While these items weren't the core treasures of the Major Sects, they were still incredibly precious to many Martial Arts Families.
After all, the Martial Arts Sects and Schools on the Great Snow Mountain all had deep, storied histories.
Whether it was the Cultivation Resources or the favor of a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert, the allure was simply too great for many young Cultivators to resist.
A good performance could lead to being accepted as a disciple by a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert, which would mean a meteoric rise to prominence.
Ordinary Martial Arts Clans already held a lofty position in the secular world. The status of a successor or disciple of a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert would be even more exalted.
Even if they could no longer progress on the path of the Martial Dao, upon returning to the secular world, they would be set for life, free to enjoy endless wealth and glory.
That was why, at every Martial Arts Grand Ceremony, the most enthusiastic participants were always the Martial Arts Families that lacked a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm expert of their own.
It was a golden opportunity to change their family's standing.
Though that's what everyone hoped for, the reality was far more difficult.
Generally, it was always the disciples from the great clans and Major Sects who took the top spots.
The Chu Family, for example, was considered one of the stronger Martial Arts Families in the country, ranking in the upper-middle tier.
"Hmph. First place? I wouldn't even dare to dream of it. I'll be happy as long as I don't get knocked out in the first round," Su Miaoke said with a laugh. Her standards for herself were quite simple.
Hearing this, Chu Feng couldn't help but laugh.
'Looks like my wife has some self-awareness after all,' he thought. Still, in his opinion, she'd have a hard time surviving even the first round.
Chu Wushuang and Chu Wuqing should have no problem getting past the first round, and they might even last a few more. But reaching the top ten in the region? Forget it. Not a chance.
Even if Chu Wushuang's strength were to increase by another leap, it would still be incredibly difficult.
The odds of winning at this Martial Arts Grand Ceremony weren't high for someone in the Qi Cultivation Realm.
Even someone like Bai Xue had probably reached the Foundation Establishment Realm by now.
Who among those who dared to register for this competition didn't have at least a Qi Cultivation Realm Cultivation?
To put it bluntly, Qi Cultivation Realm cultivators were a dime a dozen here.
"How's your Taiqing Sword Technique coming along?" Chu Feng asked.
"My training has been going well lately. I think I've reached the Beginner Level," Su Miaoke said.
"That's good," Chu Feng said. "I have to head back for now. When the competition starts, don't be scared. I'll be right there with you. As long as I'm around, nothing bad will happen."
"Hmph, of course I know that. If you weren't here, I never would have signed up in the first place. That would be a death wish," Su Miaoke replied.
In truth, she was quite self-aware. During her time at the Celestial Sword Sect, she had learned more about the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony.
And with that understanding, she realized what a terrible mistake signing up had been. With her level of strength, she was completely out of her depth.
It would be embarrassing if word got out; she was just too weak.
