"Sis, why aren’t you opening the door?" Yaoyao asked, peeking her head out from over her shoulder.

"It’s not that... How is this door..."

Jiangg Ning clutched the cold doorknob, her mind going blank. She had only given it a gentle tug, using no force at all, and the doorknob had come away from the door.

"You can’t open it?" Yaoyao asked again.

"Yaoyao, turn on your phone’s flashlight. I want to see what’s going on here."

"Okay."

As she spoke, Yaoyao pulled her phone from her pajama pocket. The faint light illuminated the area in front of them, and the two sisters huddled together for a closer look.

"Where’d the screws go? The door was fine when we came in, wasn’t it?"

"Sis, just how much force did you use? You broke the Young Master’s door."

"Nonsense, I didn’t use any force," Jiangg Ning said, her eyes widening as she glared. She urged, "Quick, find the screws. Maybe they fell on the floor."

"I don’t see any. I didn’t hear anything fall."

Wrapped in their loose pajamas, the two sisters spun around, searching. The faint glow of the flashlight illuminated their profiles, making individual strands of their hair glisten.

Chen Yuan stole a glance at them, then turned away and put on an innocent expression.

In reality, the screws were hidden in the pocket of his baggy shorts. There was no way the two sisters could find them.

After a minute, he decided the time was right.

"What happened?" Chen Yuan asked, feigning concern.

"Oh, I don’t know what happened, Chen. I broke your door, and now we can’t find the screws. How are we supposed to get out?"

Jiangg Ning said, looking up with a slight frown.

She had just examined it. The lock was very strange; it was impossible to open without the handle. Unless one were to use pliers to remove and destroy the inner mechanism from this side, it would remain locked.

Even if someone on the outside turned the handle, it would be useless.

"Seriously?" he asked in an overly dramatic tone, turning and getting out of bed. He walked over to take a look with them, and even asked with feigned concern, "What should we do? Ningning, don’t you have important business first thing tomorrow morning? If you can’t get out, won’t it be delayed?"

"That’s what I’m saying. We can’t call a locksmith this late; it would disturb your parents," Jiangg Ning said, vexed. "Why did it have to break right now...?"

"So strange! So strange!" he paced back and forth in the room, feigning anxiety.

In a soft, concerned voice, Jiangg Ning told him to go back and lie down since he wasn’t feeling well, and that she would figure something out.

During their exchange, however, Yaoyao remained quiet. Her eyes darted about, finally narrowing slightly as she studied Chen Yuan’s expression. A moment later, a suspicion had already formed in her mind, and a smile touched the corners of her lips.

"How about this... you two can stay here for the night. The bed’s big enough, anyway. We’ll wake up early tomorrow and call a locksmith," he said after a moment’s thought, speaking the words he had prepared long in advance.

"Sleep here? Yaoyao and I..." Jiangg Ning was clearly reluctant. She looked at Yaoyao and said, "Are you okay with that? Making do for one night."

"I guess we have no other choice. Sigh~" Yaoyao sighed, turning away.

When Chen Yuan saw the two sisters walk away from the door and sit on the edge of his bed, he almost burst out laughing. He had to press his lips together tightly to stop himself.

「In the dim room.」

The three of them sat on the bed.

They looked at each other, the mutual awkwardness and shyness creating a peculiar atmosphere. This time, they were truly going to share a bed. There wasn’t even a spare mat in the room, only this one bed, so sleeping on the floor was not an option.

Jiangg Ning was clearly finding the situation hard to accept. Being alone with him would have been much easier to handle, but with her sister present, it felt bizarre. It went beyond her limits, and it wasn’t just about embarrassment.

Chen Yuan turned on the bedside lamp.

A soft light came on.

He sat on the bed, looking at Ningning, who was sitting perfectly straight. From this angle, the view of her back was beautiful. Wisps of hair scattered playfully against one side of her elegant neck. Her shoulders were delicate, and her waist seemed so slender and soft that one could effortlessly wrap an arm around it.

Her rigid posture was a dead giveaway of her inner tension.

Yaoyao lay down on the other side of the bed, propping her cheek on her hand. Chen Yuan suddenly caught a fragrant scent, and a low whisper sounded close to his ear.

"Fess up... Did you do this on purpose?"

"What?" Chen Yuan played dumb.

"The door was perfectly fine. How could it suddenly break? You video-called earlier and had Sis and me give you a massage, but you don’t look sick to me. Something is definitely fishy here."

"No, you’re overthinking it," Chen Yuan said, his confidence faltering. ’Yaoyao is too sharp; she saw right through it. I thought my act was pretty convincing.’ "Am I that kind of person?"

"Young Master..." Yaoyao paused for a moment, then whispered, "You’ve gotten naughty."

Chen Yuan could only avoid Yaoyao’s gaze, not daring to meet her eyes. He proactively pulled the covers over himself, mumbling something about being dead tired and needing to get to sleep.

Then he closed his eyes and played dead.

After a complex internal struggle, Jiangg Ning sighed, finally accepting the fact that the three of them would have to sleep in the same bed tonight.

She turned over and looked at Chen Yuan, whose eyes were closed. The faint glow from the lamp illuminated the soft contours of his face, while his trembling eyelashes and the bridge of his nose cast sharp shadows. A helpless smile played on her lips.

"Chen, are there any other blankets in your room?"

"Yes, I know!" Before Chen Yuan could answer, Yaoyao had already gotten up to retrieve one. "I remember they’re in this cabinet. Sis, I’ll get them out for you."
