Chapter 459 - 299: You Guys Play This Wild?
"Come on, let’s sleep. Chen, be good. We haven’t been together like this in a long time. I’ve really missed you."
Chen Yuan was captivated by her exquisite eyes, and his heart softened instinctively. He was about to agree.
"Sister, don’t even think about using some baseless condition to trap the Young Master. Didn’t you hear him? He said he was coming to me."
Jiangg Yao grabbed Chen Yuan’s arm, pulling on it as she spoke.
"No, he’s staying with me tonight."
"He’s obviously staying with me!"
"With me!"
"Me!"
"Get out of the way."
"Get your facts straight. You’re the one who should get lost—"
Chen Yuan was pulled back and forth between them.
At first, the two sisters just argued verbally. After a moment, however, the fight escalated, and they even started getting physical. Using his body as a battlefield, one would scratch while the other kicked.
But all their attacks ended up landing on Chen Yuan.
The greedy Chen Yuan, who had hoped for even greater benefits, received his punishment. He cried out in pain constantly, covering his vital parts while dodging left and right. He’d just ducked his head to avoid one slap when another came flying at him.
’Are the two sisters putting me through some kind of evasion training?’ Chen Yuan wondered.
「A few minutes later.」
He finally couldn’t take it anymore.
"Enough!"
He frowned, holding Ningning back with his left hand and pushing Yaoyao’s face away with his right.
"Listen to me," Chen Yuan said sternly. "I don’t want any more ’benefits.’ You two are going to sleep right now. I’ll lie in the middle, half under one blanket, half under the other. That settles it, right?"
"I’m not sharing the Young Master with this violent maniac," Jiangg Yao mumbled stubbornly, her cheek still half-covered by his hand.
"Look who’s talking. The most annoying person alive is complaining about someone else. How hilarious," Jiangg Ning retorted, not yielding an inch.
Chen Yuan’s mouth twitched.
He instantly felt that getting these two sisters together was a terrible mistake.
’Wasn’t I just asking for trouble?’
By the time everything had calmed down, it was nearly one in the morning.
In the end, Chen Yuan was covered by two separate blankets, just as he had suggested. It was the only compromise that could get the two sisters to stop fighting.
He had figured it out: the only way to satisfy them was to ensure that whatever one got, the other had to get as well.
His current situation was a perfect example. His left arm was held by Jiangg Ning, who rested her head quietly on Chen Yuan’s shoulder like a weary pixie resting amongst the flowers. His right arm was held by Jiangg Yao, but her hand wasn’t nearly as well-behaved—she insisted on placing it on his ’little monster’ as a way to get back at her sister right in front of her.
Though somewhat exhausted, as Chen Yuan listened to the two sisters’ breathing, he suddenly felt that this was actually quite nice.
The restlessness that had churned inside him for the past few days finally settled, finding some solace in this moment.
He turned to the side to look at the two sisters sleeping soundly, their eyes closed. Their two identical faces brought him both pain and joy. If life could go on like this forever, he could even accept the sisters fighting like they did today.
As long as they weren’t separated, as long as no one got hurt, and they could slowly pass the years together... he didn’t want to think about the unknowable future anymore.
’I’ll just get a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow is a new day.’
With that thought, Chen Yuan closed his eyes as well.
Suddenly,
A SMOOCH echoed in the quiet bedroom. The two sisters, as if telepathically linked, both lifted their heads and kissed him on each cheek, leaving him stunned.
"Good night."
Their soft voices rang out in unison.
A faint, almost imperceptible smile formed on Chen Yuan’s lips.
’Good night,’ he thought.
