My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister

Chapter 465 - 302: Just You Wait, I’m Going to Settle Accounts with Ningning!

After three days of working around the clock, Chen Yuan returned to Lanjing. He had expected to settle into a rather peaceful and happy life. The dream was beautiful, but reality was harsh.

Lately, it had been one frustration after another.

He had discovered a very serious problem—Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao loved to argue way too much.

Chen Yuan hadn’t really noticed it before.

Before their secret about being twins came out, the sisters would never appear in front of him together, so of course Chen Yuan never saw it. But now, their two-person world had become a three-person one. Plus, with them living right next door, their lives were completely intertwined, not much different from the three of them officially living together.

Before, both sisters would try to keep up appearances. Since they had only just started dating, their interactions were inevitably a bit reserved and awkward, making it crucial to maintain that good first impression.

Jiangg Ning did her best to present herself as the mature, steady, and gentle older sister, while Jiangg Yao was obedient and well-behaved, with a dash of playful mischief.

Now, things were different. They didn’t need to pretend at all; they were just their true selves.

The three of them would have breakfast together in the morning. Afterward, Yaoyao would go back to sleep in and recharge for her afternoon stream. Jiangg Ning had recently found a company she liked and was in her trial period. And Chen Yuan had to go to class.

In the evening, the three would have dinner together again. If no one had anything important to do, they would find some entertainment together, like watching a movie, playing cards, or gaming. If they were busy, they would just do their own things.

The problems arose from within this otherwise calm and uneventful life.

Sometimes, Chen Yuan would wake up in a daze, go over to Jiangg Ning’s apartment, and step inside to wish the sisters good morning, only to be met with a tense atmosphere on the verge of erupting. It was so oppressive it was suffocating. A glance at the two sisters revealed not a single smiling face.

It went without saying. They had definitely been fighting.

All Chen Yuan could do was sit down at the table in fear and trepidation to eat his breakfast. He’d occasionally crack a joke to liven things up. Sometimes Ningning would laugh along before the atmosphere fell silent again. Sometimes Yaoyao would chime in... That was a good day. The worst was when their replies to him were laced with barbs, taking potshots at each other. The moment the words left their mouths, the argument would flare up all over again.

Chen Yuan could only cover his ears and watch the battle from the sidelines.

Even that situation was considered manageable. After the fight, the two sisters would storm off, the ceasefire would begin, and by evening, they might have made up on their own. He would come home to find Ningning and Yaoyao cuddling affectionately on the sofa.

What Chen Yuan feared most was when the sisters fought at night. Ningning and Yaoyao would sometimes come over to his place to vent their frustrations. He couldn’t side with either one or say anything bad about the other; he could only listen in silence.

But if he comforted Yaoyao, Ningning, who was still fuming, would definitely be unhappy. She’d think Chen Yuan was spoiling Yaoyao too much and would repeatedly voice her objections.

If he comforted Ningning, Yaoyao would get incredibly jealous and angry, feeling that he was favoring Ningning and leaving her all alone.

And so, it became a vicious cycle. It got to the point where Chen Yuan could only escape after they fought and comfort neither of them. If he did, the issue would shift from an internal struggle between the sisters to the question of "which side Chen Yuan was on."

Chen Yuan used to think about how wonderful it would have been if he had known Jiangg Ning and Jiangg Yao since they were children, to have been lucky enough to witness their immature phases and meet them earlier in life.

Now, he was starting to feel grateful he met them later. Otherwise, hearing Yaoyao talk about how the sisters fought every single day when they were little... who could stand that?

They had already argued three or four times this week, and he was already feeling mentally exhausted. He couldn’t imagine it getting any worse.

...

「Another Friday evening.」

A top student in strategic investment had been assigned from Jiang Corporation’s Kyoto headquarters. Pei Youwen had discussed with Chen Yuan about doing their duty as hosts and giving the newcomer a proper welcome. However, because Chen Yuan really disliked drinking culture, he had arranged the welcome reception at a private sports club instead of a restaurant.

For half the afternoon, Chen Yuan and Pei Youwen played tennis with this top student.

In an atmosphere of sweat and competition, the strangers got to know each other quite well.

Around six-thirty in the evening, Chen Yuan finally arrived at Fengting District.

But when he pushed open the door to 1302, he jumped in surprise.

"Yaoyao, why are you home without any lights on?"

As far as he could see, the living room was shrouded in darkness. Although the hazy night outside the balcony’s floor-to-ceiling windows was lit by neon lights, their glow barely crept a few inches in from the balcony. Chen Yuan hadn’t looked closely when he came in, so he didn’t realize Yaoyao was sitting there on the sofa.

He flipped on the lights, and the room was suddenly bright.

Only then did Chen Yuan see Jiangg Yao.

She was hugging her knees pitifully, her pale feet resting on the edge of the sofa. Her soft, ink-black hair was unbound, and faint tear tracks were visible on her cheeks. Her expression was a mixture of sorrow and disappointment.

"Young Master..."

Jiangg Yao, who had already composed herself and was just staring blankly into space, lost control the moment she saw Chen Yuan. The tears she’d been holding back began to fall in big, crystalline drops. She opened her arms, looking utterly pitiful and asking for a hug.

"There, there, don’t cry. What happened?"

Chen Yuan naturally pulled Jiangg Yao into his arms, stroking her hair.

"My sister yelled at me just now. We had a big fight. I felt so awful over there, so I ran over here by myself. She even told me to get lost and stay as far away as possible... WAAAH, I waited for you for half an hour. I’m so glad you’re back."

"Huh? Ningning said something that harsh?" Surprised, Chen Yuan grabbed a tissue to wipe Yaoyao’s tears. She rested her head on his shoulder, looking up at him with teary eyes as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

That expression, that gesture... anyone would be filled with tenderness and pity.

And Chen Yuan was already a soft-hearted person to begin with.

"What happened? How did you make your sister so angry? Why didn’t you call me? If I had known, I would have come back earlier so you wouldn’t have had to wait here all alone."

"I didn’t even do anything..." Jiangg Yao pouted and complained, "At lunch, I wanted to start my stream as soon as possible, so I just ate something small. After streaming for four hours in the afternoon, I got a little hungry. By five o’clock, my sister still wasn’t back. I couldn’t wait any longer and was getting a craving... so I made a cup of instant noodles. I know she doesn’t let me eat junk food, but I was so hungry, I couldn’t help it. When she came back, she scolded me."

’Was that really necessary? It was just a cup of noodles.’ Chen Yuan felt a little indignant on Yaoyao’s behalf.

He had thought it was something serious.

Just for eating some junk food? Was it really such a huge crime that she had to be scolded to tears? Ningning was being too strict. He figured she must have escalated it to a lecture about health and diet.

After spending so much time with them, Chen Yuan couldn’t say he knew the sisters’ personalities inside and out, but he could predict the general course of events with reasonable accuracy. He could perfectly imagine the scene of Ningning scolding Yaoyao.

It probably went something like: she’d left good food for her at lunch, but Yaoyao refused to eat it. And then in the evening, she wouldn’t even bother to heat it up in the microwave. Plus, Yaoyao hadn’t eaten instant noodles in a long time—Ningning was very strict about controlling these kinds of convenience foods. Chen Yuan didn’t really care; he wasn’t a big fan of them anyway.

But it was completely normal for many girls to be unable to resist convenience foods.

Of course, Chen Yuan wouldn’t only consider Ningning to be at fault. He was sure that Jiangg Yao’s version of the story conveniently left out her own mistakes, since people tend to tell their side in a way that favors them.

"Yeah, my sister is such a busybody. She has to control everything! If I hadn’t run away fast enough, she would have hit me!" Jiangg Yao whined, starting to act cute with Chen Yuan. "Young Master~ Hubby~ Big Brother Yuan~ You couldn’t bear to see your Yaoyao get hit, right?"

"Of course I couldn’t!" Chen Yuan was weakest to this kind of coddling. Hearing those pet names that made his blood rush, his expression hardened with resolve.

"Then you have to think of something! You can’t just let that brute Ningning keep bullying Yaoyao. Hubby, she hits really hard, you know that."

"Alright, I’m thinking, I’m thinking." Chen Yuan lowered his head, cupped Yaoyao’s small face, and pecked her on her soft pink lips.

"You’re the best. Yaoyao loves you the most. You’re the best boyfriend in the whole world. Kisses."

"Mhm."

As Chen Yuan spoke, Yaoyao’s soft lips chased after his again.

A game of cat and mouse, of feigned resistance.

Before long, a subtle flush rose on both of their cheeks.

They hadn’t seen each other all day, so a bit of intimacy was only natural. Chen Yuan couldn’t help but get restless and let his hands wander. Jiangg Yao curled up in his embrace, her coquettish appearance exceptionally endearing...

A few soft moans echoed in the living room.

...

For a couple in the honeymoon phase, a bit of intimacy was completely normal.

A few minutes later.

Chen Yuan went to the bathroom to wash his face. When he returned to the living room, his eyes were filled with the resolute determination to stand up for Yaoyao.

"Young Master, are you really going to go settle the score with my sister?" Jiangg Yao asked, a little flustered.

"Of course. She bullied you, you think I’m going to let her get away with it? How big of a deal can eating instant noodles be? I refuse to believe it."

"Go, Young Master! Do you want me to come with you and cheer you on?"

"No need. You just wait here."

With that, Chen Yuan strode out the door of 1302 with determined steps, shutting it behind him with a loud SLAM.

Then, he straightened his shirt and rolled up his sleeves.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. He rapped on the door a few times, as if he were there for revenge.

After a few seconds, the door didn’t open.

So Chen Yuan just used the facial recognition lock and walked right in.

Closing the door to 1301 behind him, he couldn’t wait to call out in a soft, gentle voice, "Ningning, I’m home from work~"

"Chen?" Jiangg Ning poked her head out of the kitchen, her face full of pleasant surprise.
