My Pervert Sytem

Chapter 181: Blood on the Marble

  • Next Chapter

The lifeless body of the Syndicate Cleaner lay in a growing pool of dark blood.

The strike team gathered near the massive, ornate wooden doors at the far end of the antechamber.

These were the final barriers separating them from the Emperor’s true sanctuary. The wood was carved with beautiful, ancient depictions of the Solarian bloodline, but the ambient air radiating from the cracks smelled entirely of copper and sulfur.

Leon felt the dull ache in his ribs flaring with a persistent, nagging rhythm. The palm strike from Silas had bruised him deeply, reminding him that relying purely on his boundless stamina was a dangerous gamble.

Isolde Vane noticed his subtle grimace. The Emerald Knight sheathed her glowing rapier, stepping away from the group. She walked over to Leon, her bright green eyes scanning his chest with genuine, unfiltered concern.

"You are injured," Isolde murmured, keeping her voice low so the others wouldn’t overhear.

"It is nothing a good night’s sleep won’t fix," Leon replied, trying to brush off her worry with a casual shrug.

Isolde did not accept the deflection. She reached out, her soft fingers gently resting against the fabric of his dark shirt right over his bruised ribs. She wasn’t a healer like Beatrice, but she understood the mechanics of blunt force trauma better than anyone.

"You take too many hits for us," the rival knight whispered, her thumb lightly tracing the edge of his injury. "You are incredibly durable, but you are not invincible. Stop treating your body like a disposable shield."

A subtle, floating text box materialized in the air, casting a faint golden hue over her green tabard.

[System Notice: The Knight’s Admonition]

[The proud warrior is aggressively fussing over your wellbeing. It is a rare display of vulnerability. Reward her concern with absolute confidence.]

[Objective: Cover her hand with your own. Lean in, brush your lips against her temple, and promise her you plan to survive long enough to collect on another private dinner.]

[Reward: +20 Endurance, 500 Shameless Points.]

Leon welcomed the prompt. He needed the extra physical resilience for whatever nightmare was waiting in the throne room, and he genuinely enjoyed flustering the strict aristocrat.

He moved his large, calloused hand, gently covering her delicate fingers. He stepped into her personal space, the sheer proximity forcing her to tilt her head upward.

He leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her temple.

"I plan to survive long enough to collect on another private dinner, Isolde," Leon murmured, his voice a dark, vibrating hum that bypassed her rational thoughts.

The Emerald Knight sucked in a sharp breath. The agonizing tension of the impending battle evaporated, replaced by a sudden, overwhelming wave of breathless heat. Her cheeks flushed a brilliant crimson, her military discipline crumbling into soft, pliant submission. She leaned her weight into his solid chest, closing her eyes for a fleeting, desperate moment of comfort.

[A surge of fresh energy fortified his bones, the system silently acknowledging his success.]

Seraphina cleared her throat, a sharp, metallic sound echoing off the marble walls.

"If the medical evaluations are complete, we have an empire to save," the silver-haired warlord announced, though a proud, knowing smirk touched her lips. She had grown accustomed to her warden’s chaotic romantic methods of keeping the team united.

Leon stepped back, offering Isolde a final, reassuring glance before moving to the front of the formation.

He stood before the towering wooden doors, resting both hands flat against the carved ancient timber. He didn’t bother checking for runic traps. If Silas had chosen to die on the icy floor, it meant the path was clear. The true danger was already inside.

He shoved forward, his thick muscles bulging as he forced the heavy doors open.

The hinges screamed in protest, revealing the vast, sprawling expanse of the Imperial Throne Room.

The sight was profoundly horrifying.

The room was originally designed as a monument to sunlight and glory. Massive stained-glass windows usually bathed the hall in a warm, golden glow. Now, the glass was entirely painted over with thick, viscous blood. The ambient light was a sickly, pulsing violet, radiating from dozens of massive, jagged corrupted crystals embedded directly into the polished floors.

The air was heavy, practically unbreathable, saturated with the smell of raw meat and ozone.

At the far end of the hall, elevated on a grand marble dais, sat the Imperial Throne.

But it was no longer just a chair.

The throne had been transformed into a grotesque, fleshy monument. Thick, pulsing veins of corrupted earth mana and Vaelorian blood magic crawled up the stone steps, merging directly with the frail, withered body of the Emperor.

The ruler of the known world was suspended in a horrifying state of suspended animation. His golden robes were shredded, revealing a body heavily mutated by the dark catalysts. Jagged, violet crystals protruded from his shoulders and chest, acting as a massive, living battery. His eyes were wide open, glowing with a mindless, agonizing light.

"By the ancestors," Julian Avgar gasped, stumbling backward into Elara. The young noble stared at the ruined monarch, tears of pure horror welling in his eyes.

The Emperor was not dead. He was being kept alive, forcibly merged with the dark magic to serve as the ultimate, unyielding anchor for the High Priestess’s grand design.

"It is a masterpiece, isn’t it?" a smooth, chillingly beautiful voice echoed through the vast hall.

Stepping out from behind the grotesque throne was Lady Morgana.

The High Priestess did not look like an ancient, wizened spellcaster. She was a woman of breathtaking, terrifying beauty. She wore a flowing, backless gown constructed entirely from shimmering, dark violet silk that seemed to absorb the ambient light. Her long hair was a stark, unnatural white, cascading down her back like a waterfall of snow.

She did not carry a weapon. She did not need one. The sheer, suffocating volume of dark magic radiating from her slender figure eclipsed anything they had faced before.

"You feral little rats have caused me an immense amount of trouble," Morgana sighed, trailing a delicate pale finger along the mutated, crystalline arm of the Emperor. "Smashing my batteries. Killing my hound. You are terribly disruptive."

Seraphina gripped her broadsword, her crimson aura flaring in a desperate attempt to push back the oppressive, sickly light.

"You have committed the ultimate treason, Morgana," Seraphina roared, her voice trembling with absolute fury at the desecration of the throne. "Release the Emperor, and I will grant you a swift death."

Morgana laughed. It was a melodic, entirely dismissive sound.

"Release him?" the High Priestess mocked, shaking her head slowly. "My dear, naive warlord. He is the only thing keeping the Vaelorian fleet from sinking into the ocean. His royal bloodline is the key to holding the spatial rift open."

She raised her pale hands, gesturing toward the blood-stained windows.

"The invasion has already begun," Morgana smiled, her eyes glowing with fanatical devotion. "The Obsidian Kingdom is marching through the portal as we speak. And I am going to feed you all to my beautiful pets."

----

The horrifying reality of Lady Morgana’s grand design settled heavily over the strike team.

The Emperor of the Solarian Empire had been reduced to a grotesque, living conduit. The jagged violet crystals erupting from his flesh pulsed with a frantic, terrifying rhythm, funneling his royal bloodline and immense latent mana into a massive, unseen spatial tear.

"A portal," Valeriana breathed, her dark eyes wide with sudden, catastrophic understanding. The spy gripped her tracking compass, staring at the chaotic readings. "She isn’t just communicating with the Vaelorian fleet. She is physically bridging the ocean. The invasion forces aren’t sailing here. They are marching straight into the palace cellars."

Leon tightened his grip on his heavy steel weapon, the blunt edge resting against the marble floor.

The scale of the treason was unimaginable. The Chamberlain had starved the city and maintained the political quarantine simply to ensure no one interrupted this monumental, treasonous ritual.

"You sold the entire continent to a foreign king," Seraphina hissed, taking a slow, measured step toward the dais. Her volcanic aura burned fiercely, trying to cleanse the foul stench of the blood magic from the air.

Morgana looked down at them with a serene, pitying smile. Her pristine white hair drifted around her shoulders, completely untouched by the corrupted wind swirling through the throne room.

"I did not sell anything, little lioness," the High Priestess corrected smoothly. "I am merely correcting a historical mistake. The Solarian bloodline is weak, plagued by madness and fragile bureaucracy. The Vaelorian King offers true, unyielding strength. This empire requires a cleansing fire."

"I am going to enjoy breaking your neck," Leon stated coldly, his deep voice cutting through her fanatical monologue.

Morgana finally turned her glowing, pale eyes toward the towering warlord. She inspected his heavily scarred, muscular physique with a look of clinical, detached curiosity.

"Ah, the feral anomaly," she mused, walking gracefully down the first few steps of the marble dais. "My divinations could never accurately track your movements. You possess no formal lineage, no refined core, yet you shatter Grandmasters with your bare hands. You are a fascinating glitch in the tapestry of fate."

She raised a single, delicate hand.

"But every glitch must eventually be erased," Morgana whispered.
