Chapter 62: Ripping Arms, Eyes, and Getting the Fuck Out

  • Next Chapter

The vampire wasn’t used to feeling fear, but after seeing what I had done, he instinctively took a step back.

He had been convinced my main attack would come from the front. Maybe a punch, or some poison, but in reality my cube was already in position.

To make sure the attack would land, I had kept the cube as close as possible, so he would have almost no time to react.

"Why did you attack the academy?" I asked, taking a step forward. "Maybe if you tell me, I can kill you quickly. If not, maybe I’ll add a little suffering."

"Cut the act, you piece of shit," the vampire snapped. "That uniform is from the academy, which means you’re just a student. Even if you’re a second-year or above, your power is nowhere near mine. If you were a B-Rank hunter, maybe you’d have a chance."

No matter what I said to him, that vampire wasn’t going to spit out the information I needed. The only way would be torturing him.

So I took another step forward just to fool him, making him focus entirely on me. I even changed my stance, raising both fists in front of me as if I was about to trade blows with him. At that exact moment, I controlled the cube, which took the shape of a spear and shot toward the vampire. I aimed for his torso.

This time the cube didn’t have its bluish color. It looked like metal! The spear now had a real, solid form. I had thought about the weapons that tribe of giants made, and that was what gave me the idea for the spear’s shape.

The vampire even tried to look back when he sensed the danger, but it was too late. Everything went exactly as I had planned. The spear pierced his torso, impaling him. A hole tore open in his chest, and an absurd amount of blood sprayed everywhere, staining the ground and his clothes red.

He coughed up blood.

"I-Impossible. How did you do that?"

I rushed toward him while the spear was still stuck in his body. I grabbed both of the vampire’s arms and used all my strength to rip them off!

Vampires had high regeneration, so relying on that spear alone would be stupid. The best move was to deal even more damage and leave that pathetic vampire defenseless.

With my strength attribute now much higher, I had more than enough power to tear his arms off! Even more blood gushed from the wounds, and the vampire roared in pain.

"Aaaaggggr, you bastard! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!"

Even in that situation, the damn vampire still thought he was in control. It was kind of funny.

Now that the heat of the fight had died down, I decided to think things through. Torturing him in that forest for information would be stupid.

What if the vampires had ways of communicating? With all the blood he had lost, the other vampires, the ones even stronger than him, could smell it from far away. The best option was to get out of that place. Now that my ability was A-Rank, I had exactly the right place to take him.

I moved my hands toward the vampire’s eyes.

"Wait, wait," he said when he realized what I was about to do.

Even with him begging, I completely ignored it and used my fingers to grab his eyes and rip them out.

It was a grotesque sight. If this had been before, I definitely would have thrown up. I wouldn’t have had the stomach to do any of the things I had done. But now, it was pretty smooth. I wasn’t shaken at all.

The vampire screamed in pain again. I was holding both of his eyes, one in each palm. I threw them to the side. They rolled a little before stopping. I couldn’t resist mocking him.

"Looks like pieces of your body will be left in the forest to be devoured, not the other way around," I said with a muffled laugh. "Pathetic."

I used the cube to suck both of us inside. Without his eyes, the vampire had no idea what was happening. With full control of my pocket dimension, I created a dungeon beneath my cabin. ℯℯ𝑙.

It was like a dungeon made entirely of stone. There, I tied up the vampire using chains created with my power. They were stronger than normal.

Pinning the vampire to the wall was a bit annoying since he no longer had arms. I had to chain his legs and torso to the wall. He hung there against the stone, unable to do anything.

Next to him, I had already created a workbench with torture tools. That would be fun, for sure. My first time ever torturing someone. Should I add that to my achievement list?

"I’ll be back later," I said. "I need to get away from your friends. Start thinking about what you’re going to tell me, or I’ll make you suffer."

I left the pocket dimension and left him there, chained in the dungeon. If he somehow managed to escape, I would feel it immediately, so there was no problem.

I looked around. The forest was covered in blood, with two eyes and two arms on the ground. The vampires might come this way, so I decided to get out of there as fast as I could.

My injured arm was already recovering fast. It wasn’t one hundred percent yet, of course, but at least the bleeding had stopped, so I wouldn’t leave a trail of blood for the other vampires.

Now, where would I go? It didn’t really matter, honestly. Any secluded place would do, even a cave. The place itself didn’t matter much because I could just enter my pocket dimension and have a complete home inside of it, and live in peace.

I kept running through the forest. I took out my phone to send a message to Ethan and Tom. The battery was at 10%, so it wouldn’t last long. The best option was to try to get some news before it died completely.

I asked where they were heading and if it was very dangerous, crowded with beasts.

"All good, bro," Tom replied. "My family lives far away, but I can get there without going through the big cities. I think I’m fine."

Ethan replied with something similar, but his family lived closer to a big city. With all the madness going on, out of the two of them, he was the one most worried about his family’s safety.

Me, I had no one to worry about. I just wanted to get far away from the academy, and after that I would think about my next steps. That was the initial plan.

I kept running without stopping for many miles, using the full speed of my body to get away. Eventually, when I was far enough from the academy and sure that the vampires weren’t watching, I used my cube to fly off.

The speed wasn’t much faster than what I could do with my body’s agility, but I didn’t have to dodge any obstacles. Reaching the top of mountains or something like that was pretty easy. And the mountains were exactly where I wanted to go.

I decided to fly to a mountain where I had a clear view of Seattle. It took less time than I expected. Before, when I was weaker, normal transportation was much faster. Cars, planes, etc.

Now, with my current power, I was much faster than a car. Planes were still faster, for sure, but that would change in the future, no doubt about it.

When I finally reached the top of the mountain, my phone was already down to 5% battery. To my surprise, Lion Heart had sent me a message.

"The situation is fucked up, kid. I don’t know if things will go back to normal anytime soon. I recommend you stay away from Seattle or any big city. Focus on getting stronger by entering rifts alone, and in 2 months we’ll possibly head to the new continent."

I sent him another message asking why those attacks were happening all over the country, but he didn’t reply. My phone died shortly after.

I entered my pocket dimension again and went down to the dungeon where the vampire was. Now I would use my free time to torture that bastard. I don’t think there’s a better hobby than that.

As soon as I walked in, I noticed the vampire had calmed down. The adrenaline from the fight was gone. He heard me coming, of course, but said nothing. I started messing with the tools I had created and left on the table.

"You know what comes next, right?" I said.

He didn’t answer. The bastard wasn’t willing to share what I wanted to know.

"You asked for this."

I picked up a pair of pliers and walked toward him.
