My Pet Slime Gives Me 10x Rewards

Chapter 67: The Idiot is Awake

The troll ran toward me, each step causing the ground to shake. It was a heavy creature.

But it was slow, really slow. Or maybe it was just me who was way faster. I could easily predict its movements and swiftly dodged the attacks by simply sidestepping.

The normal humans were watching me from afar, looking quite anxious. They had no idea how strong I was. Judging by the looks on their faces, the troll was much scarier than I was.

I circled around the troll, then climbed on its back, going up toward its neck. In just a few seconds, I was coiled around its neck, using both arms to grab it. Then, using my incredible body strength, I snapped the troll’s neck.

The creature fell to the ground with a loud thud as its body hit the concrete street. It was dead.

I didn’t even need to use my cube to kill it. My body was becoming so strong it was basically a weapon too.

That troll was just the first one I had to face. I entered the supermarket, and inside, spotted four trolls. They were standing next to the shelves, grabbing junk food and eating it, packaging and all.

The smell inside was fucking awful. Those things were pissing and shitting inside that supermarket. I had to cover my nose with my hand.

"Disgusting," I murmured.

I didn’t want to stay in that place for long, so I ran toward those trolls, trying to kill them as fast as possible to leave.

No one was watching me, so I decided to use my toxin on those fuckers. I opened my mouth and shot the toxin from my glands, aiming directly at the troll’s eyes.

The toxin hit the eyes of one of them, burning so much that the troll dropped his weapon and placed both hands on his eyes, rubbing them. It started hitting around itself, not knowing where to strike. The creature was blind now because of my toxin.

The other trolls started moving too, making weird sounds at each other. Some kind of communication, probably. I couldn’t care less.

I summoned my cube and had it take the shape of a huge two-handed sword. Sure, I could’ve just controlled the cube with my mind and let it attack the troll on its own, but holding the sword myself and cutting the troll in half was way more fun. So that’s what I did.

Holding the sword firmly with both hands, I jumped toward the troll that was already blind. In midair, I dropped down onto it, attacking with a vertical slash that cut the troll in half, from its head all the way down to its belly.

A lot of blood gushed out, turning my sword completely red. Luckily, none of that troll blood got on my clothes or my face. I would hate to smell like troll blood for the rest of the journey.

Seeing that grotesque scene, the other trolls changed their behavior right away. They started backing away, as if they were too scared to face me. ℯℯ𝑙.

That was a clear display of power. Those trolls had finally found an enemy who was far stronger, and they decided to run, going against all their aggressive nature.

Of course, I didn’t let a single one of those shits escape. I chased after them, running quickly behind each one, sword still in hand. One of them was almost reaching a side exit, but I threw the sword, which spun in a circular motion and cut off both of the troll’s legs. It was almost like a boomerang.

The creature fell to the ground and still tried to drag itself toward the exit. I couldn’t deny it: the monster had a memorable survival instinct.

In the end, none of that shit mattered, since I picked up the sword again and cut off its head, ending its life. The same happened to the other trolls.

I went to each of the bodies and ripped the monster crystals out. They weren’t the best, but any of them were useful to me. I couldn’t pass up the chance to collect a few extras.

I left the market and found the group of humans, who were still inside the cars, waiting for me to come back with good news. I stopped beside the car, and the driver rolled down the window.

"They’re all dead in there," I said. "Go fill up the cars with supplies. I’ll keep watch in case anything shows up."

Both groups thanked me profusely, almost bowing to me. It was strange to get that kind of treatment.

"Oh, and before I forget, it smells like shit in there. Better make an improvised mask, or you won’t survive that place."

"Understood, sir. Thank you for the heads up."

Now they were calling me "Sir." What the fuck was that about? Anyway, I stayed outside watching as they went in and out of the market carrying bag after bag of supplies.

Both cars got packed full. There was plenty of food and water to last a good while. The water might run out relatively fast, but finding places with fresh water and boiling it if needed would be pretty easy. The important thing was having plenty of food.

While watching them, I got to thinking. Was the situation really that bad? Should I be worried?

I figured I wouldn’t have problems keeping myself fed. But if things got that bad, what would happen to the country’s economy?

Now that I was finally starting to have a chance at a better life, making money, and boom, this shit happens. Fuck’s sake.

Anyway, once they finished grabbing the supplies, I talked to them about the situation in the big cities.

"You’re better off heading somewhere more isolated," I told them. "The big cities are the biggest targets."

"Yeah, we know. We already have an idea of where to go."

If they knew, then who was I to judge? I had already done my part, helping them get supplies and stopping that stupid fight between the two groups. Whatever happened from that point on was none of my business.

I kept making my way through Everett, heading toward Whidbey Island. As I passed through the city, I saw a lot of humans running, hiding, and using their cars to get the hell out of there.

Some of them even had big boats full of supplies and were planning to sail far away and just sit out in the middle of the sea until the dust settled. Honestly, it sounded like a pretty good idea, but if any aquatic monster found them, things would get ugly.

An old guy wearing a cap and that typical fisherman vest stopped me as soon as I got close to where the boats were docked.

"Want a ride to the other side?" he asked me.

He must have thought I was just some young, defenseless kid on his own. If I had all the time in the world, I would’ve loved a boat trip. Sounded pretty interesting, honestly. But I needed to get to Lake Crescent as soon as possible, so I turned him down.

"Thanks for the offer," I said, "but I need to get somewhere, fast."

The man looked confused, furrowing his brows. "Fast? But there’s nothing but water. The only way across is by boat."

He had no idea what I was capable of, of course. I summoned my cube, turned it into some kind of board, and jumped on top of it.

The man was shocked, realizing I was someone with an awakened ability. He started looking at me differently.

"Going surfing, are ya?" the old man joked.

It did look like it, considering the board, but no. I got on it and started flying, quickly leaving the area and heading toward Port Angeles. There wasn’t much reason to stop at every city, so I went straight for the city closest to my final destination.

While flying, I felt the strong wind on my face and had a privileged view of the situation. Besides Seattle, which was heavily destroyed, the other cities had taken some damage too, but it was less.

Clearly, the main focus of the invasions was the big cities. But then, what was stopping the smaller cities from being the next targets? Honestly, I couldn’t think of anything.

Maybe the plan of these monsters was to attack the bigger cities first, then move on to the smaller ones. There was no way to know.

The Hunter Society was surely busy defending the population from the monsters and villains, and investigating the situation. That probably wasn’t exactly my problem to deal with at that moment.

I kept flying, and luckily, nothing happened along the way. Nothing dangerous, at least. What did happen was that Zeph woke up. I could feel what he was doing inside my pocket dimension, and even hear him complaining, not understanding where he was.

Since I was flying using my cube, I couldn’t enter the pocket dimension to explain things to him. And honestly, fuck it too. I didn’t even like the guy.

I left him trapped in there for a while, screaming for help and trying to figure out why he was inside a place with no exit. It was kind of funny...

As soon as I got close to Port Angeles, I stopped flying and entered the pocket dimension to talk to that idiot.
