Chapter 3023: Chapter 1007: Got It! The Next Version’s Answer Is Mechanic!

The players were unaware of the undercurrents beneath their exciting and enjoyable gaming adventures; they truly had a blast these days at Charldo Harbor.

The Steam Lords finally held their city and survived the catastrophe of annihilation, with the entire city in a state of carnival. Against such a joyful backdrop, the trustworthy Demi-human Lords not only paid the players’ commissions in full but also gave them an additional reward for their outstanding performance and heroic feat of independently guarding the Port District.

According to Old Huo’s statistics, even the players who earned the least from this wave of battles received a four-figure bounty, while those lucky ones made over ten thousand.

Wow, the Demi-humans who have been peaceful for hundreds of years really do have money, even able to serve as "strongmen" despite such misery, making Transylvania’s poor folks exceedingly envious and jealous.

However, the Demi-humans’ cunning thinking does indeed have a knack for business.

Almost as soon as the players received their bounty and their pockets bulged, Lady Taylor, a black-market bigwig who urgently flew back to Charldo Harbor, organized a black market trade fair in the city’s port district, which was in recovery. She brought out all the good stuff she had accumulated over the years.

She released more than thirty Dominator-class weapons in one go and used connections to get twenty sets of exoskeletons from Governor Milian, almost overnight trading back the bounty the players just received, barely warmed in their hands.

It’s said that something as exaggerated as an 80% new pedipulator appeared at the auction, so players have every reason to believe that the Steam Lords were behind the scenes, recovering the funds they sowed with such cunning schemes.

Yet, considering everyone obtained the equipment they needed, no one was complaining.

Speaking of pedipulators...

Before the war, Maxim had assigned the players the task of collecting damaged pedipulators on the battlefield. Combined with the contraband sold on the black market, the first batch of returning airships from the Perfect Shipping Company had already transported about thirty pedipulators back to Transylvania; this was merely the first batch of recovered goods.

With the current speed at which players are scouring and searching, before the storyline at Charldo Harbor concludes, Transylvania can at least procure another thirty pedipulators to send back for renovation.

Within the Holy Land of Death in Xike City, Little Mummy is leading the undead of the Moon Cult in the continuous day-and-night crafting of wet core modules as vital strategic resources for the "Dragon Knights Production Program." Once Transylvania’s Dragon Knights squad is fully established, in the next war, no matter the enemies, they will face a frontal charge of over eighty fierce Dragon Knights.

In players’ words, this symbolized the completion of the Transia First Mechanized Brigade.

Of course, mere Dragon Knights were not enough. At least as far as the players were concerned, while these automated war weapons were powerful, they still fell short of the war scenes they envisaged, such as this moment when small groups escorting Mechanical Cultists underground to gather materials were preparing to transfer.

"I say, while these mechanical beasts you create are quite impressive, if you can make such things, why not create stupid but powerful bipedal robots?"

Wu Ma, one of the Zodiac from the Guild of Unfading Pride, held a cigarette between his lips without lighting it, wielding a Blood Vulture Claw while vigilantly escorting the Mechanical Cultists beside him, he complained:

"Your technical prowess may not suffice to craft a Gundam, but crafting a bipedal firepower platform driven by pilots should be quite easy, right? I yearn to experience the sensation of becoming an ’Iron Rider’.

"Exactly! Even if you can’t build a big mecha, producing something like the engineering mecha in 2077 shouldn’t be problematic, right? Equip it with a thermal melt gun and missile pods, it would wreak havoc on the battlefield!"

"Handheld Pair of Smoking Guns," Wu Ma’s underling, also incessantly complained from the side:

"I had high hopes for Charldo Harbor, this City of Machinery, only to find that all you have here are outdated pedipulators, utterly meaningless. Demi-humans are frail and should develop in this direction to compensate for inherent deficiencies with mechanical force, shouldn’t they?"

"You outsiders know nothing!"

The Mechanical Cultist they guarded was a modified Half-body Man, clad in a tattered mechanic’s robe, manipulating both mechanical arms and one on the back, trying to salvage the remnants of a mechanical octopus previously damaged by the players from the sewer water.

This item, belonging to high-level creations within the Mechanical Church, was a must-take asset.

The Demi-human mechanic wore mechanical goggles with a bitter expression.

Very understandable.

Due to Old Bach’s predicament, their organization had officially been expelled by the Steam Lord Council. The Lords demanded they withdraw from Charldo Harbor within half a month, failing to comply could lead to capture followed by humane extermination.

Honestly, their old leader nearly sent all residents of Charldo Harbor into Hell with his deeds. The Lords’ disposition was undoubtedly magnanimous, presumably Master Minks sought lenient treatment for them, coupled with the final noble betrayal by the current Mechanical Church leader, Great Sage Marvin, offering a glimpse of hope.
