Chapter 3027: Chapter 1008: The First Priority for Becoming a Mechanical Sage Is to Resist Worldly Desires (Part 2)

Old Flywheel also tried to persuade Marvin to accept recruitment, but his motivation was more selfish. Having grown tired of working in the munitions factory and lost interest in creating Dragon knights, Old Flywheel wanted Marvin to fill in for him so he could have more time to follow Mosna and continue learning about the mysteries of Creator’s Engineering.

Marvin was currently mired in these matters that were closely related to the future, leaving him in no mood to discuss induction ceremonies with a bunch of aimless foreigners.

But despite Marvin’s reluctance, he couldn’t resist the sheer enthusiasm of the players.

A few minutes later, the door of the laboratory was pushed open again, and a follower with a panicked expression shouted loudly:

"Great Sage! They’ve broken in!"

"Who? Who broke in? Steam Lord’s city defense troops? Damn! This is just pathetic, everyone’s thinking they can step on me!"

Marvin was instantly furious.

The Great Sage angrily ordered his members to congregate, while six mechanical arms on his back sprang out like a spider, ready to unleash the Spiritual Energy Beam for cutting.

This stance made the reporting follower jump in fear, quickly explaining:

"No, Great Sage, it’s not the City Defense Army! It’s the foreigners from Transylvania, they’ve barged in and are occupying our hall, saying they won’t leave until they see you! They also claim their desire to join the Mechanical Church is fervent, insisting they’re not mocking us, and mention things like professional bonuses and version answers, which are difficult to decipher.

The brothers are all scared.

These Barbarians are formidable fighters, and our Mechanical Beasts have previously suffered losses, leaving us no match for them."

"Hmm?"

The mechanical eye on Marvin flashed with a puzzled light.

He retracted his mechanical arms, picked up a finely-crafted mechanized cane from beside him, and adjusted his robe to cover the terrifying face that could scare children to tears, saying:

"I’ll go take a look. You stay here and pack my things; all creations must be taken along, and pack all kinds of equipment I crafted. If you lose one, you’ll lose an organ. Do your work well! Unless you’re already tired of your flesh and blood life."

"Sure."

The follower nodded, not at all frightened by Marvin the Great Sage’s threat.

Everyone in the church knew Marvin the Sage was the most foul-mouthed yet soft-hearted; over the years, he had personally executed penalties no more than five times, appearing almost as gentle as a Mechanical Angel compared to the other two brutal and neurotic Great Sages.

As the Great Sage left the laboratory, the alarmed Half-body Man spoke in a small voice:

"Great Sage...are we...are we going to be expelled? Can we ever return to Charldo Harbor?"

This complexly emotional question stopped Marvin in his tracks. He turned back fiercely to glare at the student whose name he couldn’t remember, saying: 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

"Focus on your work! Don’t ponder things beyond you; your brain can’t handle such complex issues. As for being able to return... heh, what’s good about this damned place? The mechanics of orthodox engineering are a bunch of timid fools; we must leave here for greater development...

No crying!

Wipe away your tears! You weak fool.

From the day you joined the Mechanical Church, you should have realized only cold machines are the most trustworthy friends in this world.

We don’t need pity or kindness from others; as long as we have machines, we can walk proudly through life, eventually disappearing into the gears of machinery, becoming part of the pursuit of knowledge.

Do not fear the future, nor dwell in the vanished past.

Just get to work.

I’m still here; it’s not up to you juniors to worry about these things."

After saying that, Marvin leaned on his cane and disappeared awkwardly down the corridor, each mechanic along the way respectfully saluting the Great Sage, but Marvin maintained a lofty indifference, ignoring these foolish fellows.

He soon arrived at the "reception room" of this damned place.

Actually just a house filled with numerous mechanical parts and damaged items, but Marvin didn’t immediately step inside. Instead, he stayed at the door and activated his sonic collector to eavesdrop on the players’ exchanges within.

"Hey, Loyal Brother, look at this mechanical arm, it’s still seventy percent new, a simple Spiritual Energy link could make it usable again, yet these guys threw it away, what a waste!"

"Exactly, these guys keep talking about pragmatism, but they don’t understand the principle of making full use of things! Look at this lathe, holy cow, such a good lathe we dreamed of having when we were just starting out. The Half-body Men only discard it here because it lacks precision."

"I feel like we could assemble a bipedal robot from this pile of mechanical waste; look what I found! A mechanical gyroscope, who knows where the mechanics dismantled it from.

This is good stuff.

Take it back and show it to the bosses, maybe they’ll make a helicopter out of it... Damn!

Loyal Brother, where did you find this thing, it looks weird, what on earth is this?"

"I don’t know either, so I plan to disassemble it..."

Upon hearing this, Marvin the Sage knew he had to step forward.

Not just because he’d sensed the "enthusiasm for learning" of this odd group, but more urgently because Loyal Brother was holding a self-propelled Burning Gold mechanical bomb.

This fool had no idea what he planned to dismantle was a contraption crafted by Great Sage Stephen, capable of easily collapsing the entire hall, who knows how it ended up in this pile of mechanical waste?
