My Players Are So Fierce
Chapter 3146: Retirement and the Eternal Campaign
When the Count Leon, disguised and arriving quietly under the cover of night on the Hammer of Morphy, saw his son, the latter was wearing hospital clothes and devouring meat buns at a rate of two bites each in the airship’s cafeteria, under the horrified gaze of the four dwarf chefs, with the food prepared for the entire ship crew for supper.
By Fraser’s side, there were already seven empty bun baskets and three large plates of fried rice that had been eaten, plus a bowl of hot and sour fish soup with only the seasoning left.
This was nearly enough food to fill a small team of five strong men, but looking at Brigadier General Fraser’s hungry condition, it was clear that he was far from full. This inhuman appetite truly taught the dwarf chefs a lesson.
My goodness, are all Goldenrod People unparalleled gluttons?
Count Leon was also startled by his own son.
On one hand, the appetite was indeed astonishing.
On the other hand, did your noble upbringing teach you such a starving ghost way of eating?
This is too unseemly!
Why don’t you just gulp down the soup directly like those Barbarians?
Unqualified!
Zero points!
The Earl clenched his cane, intending to approach his son for a conversation, but just as he stepped forward, he was stopped by the old butler next to him.
The old butler, Huguenot, stared intently at the strange skin color difference on the young master’s left arm. The danger sense from the Golden Assassin made him feel that the one sitting in front of him wasn’t the familiar young master Fraser, but a ravenous Ancient Wild Beast.
Danger!
“Something’s very wrong, sir.”
The old butler whispered:
“That thing only looks like the young master, but it’s not…”
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
Count Leon immediately got anxious, scolding:
“Isn’t that my son?”
“But the message you received said that the young master was severely injured and tainted by chaos, forced to undergo amputation to save his life. However, the thing in front of you… look again! He doesn’t have a single wound on him, he’s terrifyingly healthy.”
The old butler said cautiously:
“You should leave immediately, leave this to me.”
“That’s my son, Huguenot!”
The Count shook his head and said:
“I recognize him, I won’t mistake him, he is Fraser. I don’t care what changes have occurred to him, I only care that my son returns safely. I believe he won’t hurt me, step aside!”
“Sir!”
“Step aside!!!”
The Earl’s tone became cold, making the loyal old butler grit his teeth, step aside, and grasp the dagger hidden at his waist, closely following Leon as he approached Fraser, who was readying himself to start on the ninth basket of vegetarian buns.
The latter was overjoyed seeing his father approaching, about to get up when his expression changed, and with a look of regret, he sat back down, picked up a bun, and continued devouring.
“You should slow down.”
The Earl sat in the chair opposite his son.
He glanced at the food platter next to him, suppressed his inner worry, and said:
“And is your appetite a bit too good?”
“To be honest, Father, I was already full after the first plate of fried rice, but this little bit of calorific intake is far from enough for ‘it.'”
Fraser said, with a ‘terrifying’ eating posture, a grim face:
“Over the last few days, it’s been consuming its energy to support my life, now it undoubtedly wants to consume back the energy it lost. You can wait outside for a while, another half hour or so will probably make it feel somewhat satisfied. Three-quarters full is a safety threshold. Lady Mosna told me it’s best to always maintain above this limit so it doesn’t become restless.”
“It?”
The Earl instantly caught the hidden meaning in his son’s words, furrowing his brows, he asked:
“So you can recover to such a healthy state because of ‘it’? Can you tell me what it is?”
“There’s no inconvenience, Father, as long as you don’t have nightmares from hearing this tonight.”
As Fraser shoved delicious buns into his mouth, he relayed everything that happened to him to Count Leon without concealing the matter of the Symbiotic Crystal.
Despite his complex feelings towards his father, the Brigadier General never lied in front of him, just as Count Leon cherished him, the General also regarded his father as the most valuable person in his life.
Especially after the death of his mother, it’s not exaggerating to say, besides their wealth that could rival nations and their power above everyone but one, they were impoverished with only each other.
Though their relationship might not be a classic case of parental empathy, it was decidedly genuine.
After listening to his son’s description, the experienced Earl felt waves in his heart, stroking his cane, pondering for a moment, before saying seriously:
“Then you must retire from the military, son, those embroiled in war always find it hard to control their minds, for others, the result of emotional breakdown is at most an angry mess, but for you it’s deadly. You should’ve retired long ago, Fraser. After the end of the war at the Maginot Line, you should return to your rightful place. You defied my thoughts, and this adventure nearly sent you to Hell. I would prefer for you to spend the rest of your life in mediocrity, rather than go through another terrifying disaster where I almost lose you, you cannot be so selfish, son, you have to consider your poor father.”
“I will comply with your wishes.”
