Chapter 143 - 75: Nether Abyss Dharma Eye (Golden Legend)

Chapter 143: Chapter 75: Nether Abyss Dharma Eye (Golden Legend)

VMMMM—!

Following Jiang Xuan’s command to advance, all the job requirements he had previously completed blurred and faded away, as if shrouded in mist.

The next moment, the seven job entries on his attribute panel all transformed into a brilliant stream of light, which then abruptly intertwined and merged.

The iridescent light first contracted into a solid point. An instant later, with a BOOM, the point of light erupted, subjecting his Flesh Body and Soul Spirit to a thorough tempering and baptism from head to toe.

As the stream of light remolded Jiang Xuan’s body, the system’s notification sound rang out in his ears.

[Your advancement to Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer has begun. Your body and Soul Spirit have been baptized.]

[Your body has received a minor boost. Your Soul Spirit has received a major boost.]

The boost to his basic attributes was something all class advancements provided, so Jiang Xuan didn’t pay it too much mind.

What he cared about most were the new Skills and professional Traits unlocked after the advancement.

VMMMM—

Because this was a direct succession advancement rather than a divergent class change, the first things to change during Jiang Xuan’s advancement to Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer were the original abilities of a Beginner Qi Cultivator.

Perhaps because Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer focused on detection rather than Magical Power, the changes to Refining Essence and Qi, one of the three original abilities, were not obvious.

The Dao Foundation Contract, however, received a standard upgrade.

The number of Cultivation Techniques it could bind increased from one to three.

’Finally, I have some open slots. With the Dao Foundation Contract, my Cultivation in the Four Seasons Valley will be safe and secure.’

The Four Seasons Reincarnation Scripture would undoubtedly take one of the three slots.

As for the last remaining slot, since Jiang Xuan didn’t possess any other particularly powerful Cultivation Techniques or Magic, he wasn’t in a hurry to bind it.

Closing his eyes, Jiang Xuan continued to perceive the changes within his body.

He then discovered that the passive Skill with a low presence in the Beginner Qi Cultivator class—Qi Sensitivity—had made a qualitative leap in the Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer class.

[Your Professional Passive, Qi Sensitivity, has been upgraded to Celestial Sensing.]

[Celestial Sensing: You can clearly perceive the flow, Spirit Vein nodes, purity/impurity attributes, and Grade of the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi within the range of your spiritual coverage. You will also be the first to sense upcoming changes and disasters in the world around you, such as wind, rain, Thunder, and earthquakes.]

’A pity. It’s Celestial Sensing, not Unity of Heaven and Man.’

With the former, Jiang Xuan could only "observe" the world. With the latter, he would be able to merge his Heart Spirit with Heaven and Earth and act as a Celestial Being, carrying out the will of Heaven.

’No matter. When Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer advances again, I should be able to achieve the latter. By then, this profession will most likely break through to the Golden Grade as well.’

VMMMM—!

As Jiang Xuan was lost in his thoughts, the Clear Heart Mirror within him suddenly trembled.

Then, Jiang Xuan discovered that because both [Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer] and [Clear Heart Swordsman] were Heart Soul-aspected professions, some of their attributes overlapped. This made the first Skill of his Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer class somewhat similar to the Clear Heart Mirror’s (Observing Oneself).

It was also a bright mirror suspended within his Heart Soul, called the Celestial Heart Mirror.

Furthermore, Jiang Xuan had an inexplicable feeling that this mirror could merge with the Clear Heart Mirror.

Since he was still in the middle of his advancement to Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer, Jiang Xuan didn’t act rashly. Instead, he began to inspect the abilities of the Celestial Heart Mirror.

After a careful inspection, Jiang Xuan learned that the mirror came with two Traits. The first was See the World:

[See the World: You can use your Heart as a mirror, clearly reflecting the worldly environment you perceive onto the Celestial Heart Mirror.]

This Trait wasn’t very effective on its own, but it was a different story when paired with the subsequent Insight.

[Insight: Your powerful Spiritual Sense makes it so that ordinary mist, barriers, and false Illusion Techniques can no longer block your perception. Furthermore, you can follow the veins of the world to forcibly project scenery from beyond your range of spiritual perception into your Heart Soul. Note: This Technique requires a large amount of Heart Spirit to cast. The farther away and clearer the scenery you wish to observe, the more Power of Heart Soul you will consume.]

’Is this... map hacking?’

The ability to see scenery several, or even over ten, miles away without moving, while not directly increasing his combat strength, was in fact a strategic-level power.

’From now on, I won’t have to worry about sneak attacks or ambushes.’

When going to a market-town or out exploring for treasure, if Jiang Xuan sensed something was amiss, he could simply cast Insight from over ten miles away. At that point, any ambush would be a complete joke to him.

As Jiang Xuan was marveling at this, two more Skills condensed within his body.

After learning the details of these two Skills, Jiang Xuan’s expression grew even more peculiar.

[You have obtained a special passive: Celestial Heart Sensing.]

[Celestial Heart Sensing: Born into the world and raised between Heaven and Earth, every person’s Soul Spirit has a sliver of itself entrusted to the vast heavens. Those with high Spirituality will develop a special sense when encountering calamity or danger. Possessing Celestial Heart Sensing, you will receive even clearer warnings.]

[You have obtained the Divination Skill: Asking Heaven.]

[Asking Heaven: Pray to the vast heavens to divine fortune and misfortune. This is the starting point of the art of divination. With Celestial Heart Sensing, your divinations will be even more precise.]

"..."

After a quick look at the Skills for Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer, Jiang Xuan realized they could be used in combination. From now on, whenever he roamed the world and encountered danger, Celestial Heart Sensing would immediately issue a warning.

Upon sensing danger, he could immediately use Asking Heaven to divine its source. He could also use the Celestial Heart Mirror’s [See the World] and [Insight] to directly scout for enemies over ten miles away.

With a combo like this, unless his enemy’s strength surpassed his by several Realms, his safety would be all but guaranteed.

From a self-preservation standpoint, this profession was well-deserving of its Purple rating.

And this wasn’t even the complete form of Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer.

’I still have a Spiritual Pupil to condense... In most cases, a Spiritual Pupil is closely related to ’detection,’ which means my warning and detection abilities can be elevated to another level.’

’...This survival ability is almost ridiculously strong.’

As he marveled at this, Jiang Xuan also felt a little helpless. Because Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer was similar to a Prophet or a Stargazing Mage, focusing on observation and insight, it had almost no offensive capabilities.

’Thankfully, when choosing my Spiritual Pupil, I got clever and took a shortcut. Otherwise, this advancement really wouldn’t have increased my combat power at all.’

[DING...]

As Jiang Xuan was reflecting on this, the advancement to Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer reached its final stage—the most crucial and astonishing change of the entire process.

This time, the system was exceptionally slow in condensing the Skill, and the process took an especially long time.

After the DING sound, Jiang Xuan waited for the time it took to drink half a cup of tea before he felt a special ’void’ slowly condensing and taking shape between his eyebrows.

The moment the void finished forming, the system’s cold voice immediately rang out.

[System prompt: You have condensed the Nether Abyss Dharma Eye (Golden Legendary Level).]

[Nether Abyss Dharma Eye: You have gained the ability to manipulate Gravity and Repulsive Force at will, and you can see the world’s gravitational fields.]

[Warning: Your Dharma Eye is too powerful and does not match your current Cultivation Realm or physical fortitude. You are currently unable to fully unleash the power of the Nether Abyss Dharma Eye. Forcibly using it may cause your body to collapse.]

As the final notification faded, Jiang Xuan’s advancement to Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer was officially complete.

The moment the advancement succeeded, upon seeing the two words "Golden Legend," Jiang Xuan froze for a second before his heart surged with elation:

’The Dharma Eye’s Grade didn’t drop... Is it due to the system’s mighty power, or was my understanding of the essence of Gravity profound enough to reduce the cost of the Dharma Eye’s formation?’

Whatever the reason, his Dharma Eye evolving to the Golden Legend Level was an immense blessing for Jiang Xuan.

Then, as if remembering something, he eagerly opened his attribute panel and looked at the color of his Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer class.

[Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer]

[Grade: Purple (Treasure Level)]

[Level: 1/7]

[Core: Nether Abyss Dharma Eye, Dao Foundation Contract (1/3) (Bound: Nine Breath Qi Refining Method)]

[Professional Talents/Skills: Refining Essence and Qi, Celestial Sensing, Celestial Heart Mirror (See the World, Insight), Celestial Heart Sensing, Asking Heaven]

Staring at the colors of the first and second lines for a long time, Jiang Xuan noticed a faint golden glow around the edges of the profession’s name, but overall, it was still Purple.

This made Jiang Xuan’s brows furrow tightly, his heart filled with confusion.

’Why? Didn’t I just obtain a Golden Legend Level Skill?’

’Back when I advanced to Gourmet, a single Feast Ceremony was enough to raise its Grade. Why didn’t it work this time?’

This sliver of doubt did not trouble Jiang Xuan for long.

Here in the Scripture Pavilion, with the blessing of enhanced Spirituality, Jiang Xuan read the system prompts three times and slowly figured it all out.

’Golden Legend is different from Purple Treasures. For professions that are Purple or below, a single outstanding feature is enough to leverage an increase in Grade.’

’But Gold represents Perfection, flawlessness, and immortality. Therefore, Golden Professions can never be achieved with just a single highlight. I need ’Perfection,’ meaning all five dimensions—Magical Power, Divine Soul, Flesh Body, Skills (Techniques), and Talents—must meet the standard. Only then can I raise Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer to a Golden Grade.’

’The Shenxiao Sect’s Saint Heir profession is just like that. It has thirteen job requirements in total, testing every aspect of a Cultivator. Failing to meet even a single one makes advancement impossible.’

After understanding everything, Jiang Xuan no longer had any doubts about why his profession’s Grade was still Purple, despite him possessing the Nether Abyss Dharma Eye.

The other aspects of Qi Cultivator - Celestial Observer were indeed holding the Dharma Eye back. In fact, because those other areas were too weak, Jiang Xuan couldn’t even fully unleash the power of his Nether Abyss Dharma Eye.

Fortunately, it was still a Golden Legendary Level Spiritual Pupil. Even if he could only exert ten or twenty percent of its power, it was enough for Jiang Xuan to dominate others at the same level.

His only remaining question was why this Dharma Eye was named Nether Abyss.

’Gravity and Repulsive Force are some of the most fundamental properties of the universe. They have nothing to do with death or Nether Qi...’

This confusion didn’t stump Jiang Xuan for long either. He realized that in the universe, the celestial body that best embodies Gravity is a black hole—the ultimate expression of Gravity.

Due to its infinite Gravity, nothing that enters a black hole can leave. And because not even light can escape, a black hole appears to the outside world as a dark, boundless void, just like an abyss.

This trait of being an insatiable, all-devouring entity, combined with its dark and boundless nature—describing a black hole as a "Nether Abyss" using the vocabulary of the Cultivation Realm was indeed quite fitting.

’Nether Abyss it is, then. Now, I have nothing to fear.’

Muttering this to himself, Jiang Xuan looked at his reflection in a mirror.

After the advancement, his physical form hadn’t changed much, except for a new vertical line that had appeared on his forehead. It resembled a closed vertical pupil, lying quietly in wait.

VMM!

As Magical Power flowed into it, the vertical line on Jiang Xuan’s forehead opened slightly.

But within the slit, there was no eyeball to be seen—only a deep, bottomless, dark Nether Abyss, hidden between Jiang Xuan’s brows.

Moreover, the Nether Abyss exuded a strange suction force, as if it could pull in and devour a person’s entire Divine Soul.
