My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 591 - 324: First Hearing of True Radiance
In the Ancient King Hall, streams of green data intertwined as the Bronze Ancient King sat enthroned in the center.
Around him, five figures with indiscernible faces were outlined, their voices the only thing to emanate from them. "What does everyone think of the method that Sun proposed?"
"As it stands, the method he described for luring out the Spirit of Sun poses no significant risk. The only difficulty is breaking the barrier between the Nether Realm and reality, but for beings like us, that is certainly achievable."
"Can this Sun truly be trusted? The materials and resources he’s asking for are considerable. If something goes wrong when the time comes..."
One of the Ancient Kings seemed to ask, "Hanhai Emperor, you have been observing the Lost Flame the longest. What are your thoughts?"
The Hanhai Emperor’s voice was deep and resonant. "We may have observed the Lost Flame for a long time, but our understanding of it is limited. You would be better off asking the Bronze Ancient King. After all, Qin Yun is the only person to have returned from it alive."
The Bronze Ancient King sounded indifferent. "I have said it before. That student of mine has a mind of her own and is unwilling to share many things with me."
A voice, tinged with sarcasm, spoke up. "Bronze, how did you end up with such a disloyal student? Why even keep her around?"
The Bronze Ancient King was completely unfazed. "I’d be happy to get rid of her. None of you would have any objections, I presume?"
"That is your own house’s affair. What opinion would we have?"
"Zhenwu..." the Hanhai Emperor interrupted. "If we want to lure the Spirit of Sun, Qin Yun is indispensable. She cannot die yet."
The Bronze Ancient King retorted with a laugh, "Zhenwu, I hear one of your Star Seed Positions is already on its third replacement. Why haven’t you settled on someone yet?"
The Zhenwu Ancient King’s voice was icy. "Competition breeds excellence. Those unqualified for the Star Seed Position are naturally replaced."
Though the Zhenwu Ancient King said as much, everyone knew the real situation. The internal struggles within the True Martial Sect were so fierce that three consecutive Star Seeds had died, and the various factions were now at each other’s throats.
The Hanhai Emperor’s voice cut in. "Whether it’s the Sects or the Royal Court, our internal affairs are all tangled and complex. Many matters are not for any single one of us to decide. Let’s not bring such things up for discussion. The Spirit of Sun is what’s most important right now."
Another, gentler voice added, "Who among us doesn’t have skeletons in their closet? If we start dredging up old dirt on each other, it will never end. We should simply proceed as Sun suggested."
"If we are to follow Sun’s plan, we will have to travel to the vicinity of the Lost Flame in a while," the Zhenwu Ancient King said, his tone inscrutable. "Bronze, the round trip will take a considerable amount of time. Can you get away?"
The others remained silent, all intensely curious about the state of the Bronze Sect’s Flame Fire.
On previous occasions when they had probed, the Bronze Ancient King had always been evasive. But this departure was now a concrete matter before them.
"Of course, you could choose not to go," the Zhenwu Ancient King added. "But you might miss your chance with the Spirit of Sun."
"We will depart together," the Bronze Ancient King’s voice was calm.
Although the Flame Fire’s condition had improved, he still couldn’t be away for too long. But he certainly couldn’t show any weakness now.
’By my estimates, if I’m to be gone for an extended period, I’ll need to at least resolve the issue with the mid-level Fog Ashes.’
’Su Chen... I don’t know how his Holy Profession was forged, but it’s not enough as it is. Still, he hasn’t reached the limit of Tier Six yet. There’s still a chance.’
’The only problem is that the trip to the Lost Flame is too soon. I’m afraid there won’t be enough time.’
At this thought, the Bronze Ancient King couldn’t help but reflect. ’Not long ago, I couldn’t even leave the Ancient King Hall. Now I’m getting greedy.’
’Whatever. If I really can’t get away, who’s going to tie me up and drag me there?’
The others were quite astonished, secretly speculating that the Bronze Ancient King truly ran deep. They had no idea how far he had actually progressed.
The Hanhai Emperor said in a heavy tone, "In that case, this matter is settled. Calculating the time, it seems to overlap perfectly with the Peak Star Conference."
"Hm?" Suddenly, the Bronze Ancient King’s gaze narrowed. He lowered his head, looking toward the floor.
"What’s wrong?" The others were the first to notice something was amiss with the Bronze Ancient King.
"Xuan Tian," the Bronze Ancient King suddenly called out.
"What is it?" The Profound Celestial Ancient King’s voice was clear and bright, like that of a young man.
A flicker of something passed through the Bronze Ancient King’s eyes, but he just shook his head. "It’s nothing."
The Profound Celestial Ancient King was perplexed but didn’t press the matter. The surrounding streams of light gradually subsided and vanished.
’Divine Dawn?’ The Bronze Ancient King’s gaze pierced through layer after layer of the void.
...
Su Chen’s vision blurred. Only after his feet were planted on solid ground did his surroundings gradually come into focus. He had just stepped out of the Profound Celestial Instrument, only to be met by two scorching gazes.
"How was the transformation? Any abnormalities?" Lu Huai asked in rapid-fire succession.
"Uh..." Feeling his skin crawl under Lu Huai’s stare, Su Chen silently took a step back toward Qing Cang.
Lu Huai saw the movement and was inwardly speechless. ’The kid actually guessed right. If Qing Cang hadn’t come, I would have definitely done some research on him.’
’Too bad...’ He glanced at Qing Cang, only to see that Qing Cang’s gaze was just as intense, but it wasn’t aimed at Su Chen. It was aimed at him.
Lu Huai’s mind raced. ’Wait, something’s not right.’
’This is bad!’
With a turn of his hand, he immediately stored the Profound Celestial Instrument away and shot a wary look at Qing Cang. Simultaneously, his left hand swept over the Wristband on his right arm, and a virtual screen popped up.
He glanced at the screen, and his expression suddenly darkened. He grew even more guarded. "Qing Cang, what is the meaning of this? Why have you blocked the local communication network?"
’Blocked the network?’ Standing behind Qing Cang, Su Chen’s heart skipped a beat as he suddenly realized something.
’I was so focused on the effects of my transformation into a Divine Dawn that I forgot one crucial detail: I used the Profound Celestial Instrument.’
’Half the attention would be on me, but the other half would be focused on the Profound Celestial Instrument itself.’
