My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 713 - 383: Crimson Flame, Fire Pillar, Method to Discover Class Requirements
"Approval? What the hell is the use of approval?"
Su Chen raised his head and looked at the giant dragon head. Even if it didn’t directly make him a Chosen One, it should at least give him some kind of reward.
Shaking his head inwardly, Su Chen withdrew his gaze and looked down at Taixuan Tianyi, who had crashed into the ground. The surrounding dust had already settled. Taixuan Tianyi lay flat on his back, a gaping hole caved into his chest. It was a shocking sight.
However, for a Professional of Taixuan Tianyi’s Tier, this was not a fatal injury. He was merely severely wounded, blood spilling from the corners of his mouth and his eyes devoid of life.
Su Chen had many questions he wanted to figure out through Taixuan Tianyi, so he prepared to head down and chat with him. However, just as he made a move, he felt a shackling force envelop his body. When he tried to descend, this shackling force only grew stronger.
His brows furrowed slightly as he looked up again. "What is this supposed to mean? You won’t let me deliver the killing blow?"
Was the Spirit of Sun really this merciful?
The path to becoming a Chosen One was incredibly cruel. When the Spirit of the Morning Star made its selections, those who received the approval of one or two dragons might still have a glimmer of hope for survival. But if they received the approval of three dragons, they were basically forced into a deathmatch with one another, unless one surrendered from the very beginning.
Defeating an opponent but being forbidden from delivering the killing blow—he had never heard of such a thing.
"Or could it be that this Supreme Profound bloodline still holds some favor with the Spirit of Sun?" Su Chen pondered. He then felt this shackling force gradually shift into a pulling sensation, dragging him toward the sky.
The dragon head above had already disappeared, transforming into a swirling vortex of purple flames.
"This is a passageway." Su Chen’s heart stirred. He deactivated his Secret Artifact Enhancement. The surrounding power was already too immense for him to resist, leaving him no choice but to obediently let himself be pulled into the vortex.
He felt the world spin around him. When he opened his eyes again, Su Chen found himself inside a grand hall. The surroundings were vast and silent, and the grayish-brown metal floor was completely spotless.
His gaze was immediately drawn to a profoundly deep cluster of purple flames not far ahead. It lacked the aid of the wind, nor did it have any visibly dancing embers, yet it naturally exuded a silent, oppressive presence. Surrounding it was an illusory dragon shadow woven from countless fragmented motes of light. It flickered between transparent and dense, looking as though it could soar into the sky at any moment.
"Is this... the Spirit of Sun?" A hint of suspicion flashed through Su Chen’s eyes. "Why is its vessel a cluster of flames instead of a stele?"
If it wasn’t a stele, would he still be able to see the profession requirements?
Becoming a Chosen One wasn’t his goal; his main objective was to record that Saint Monarch into his interface. Only by recording it into the interface could he trigger magical emotional reactions under its effects, thereby bringing about benefits that would be practically impossible to obtain under normal circumstances.
As long as he could see even a single profession requirement, he could record it into the interface—even if the requirements were incomplete, which would merely result in a lower trigger frequency. But if the profession requirements existed in a form unrecorded on any physical medium, he doubted whether he could still exploit a loophole, even with the Residual Spirit on him.
As he was pondering, a muffled, echoing voice sounded by his ear: "Defeat another bearer of the Three Dragon Shadows to obtain a wisp of ’Crimson Flame.’ This allows the use of Fire-igniting Ash to draw upon the ’Fire Pillar’ for passage within the Spiritual Tower."
There really was a reward. Using the Fire Pillar to pass through the Spiritual Tower meant his privileges had advanced another step.
"I still have six unused trial opportunities," Su Chen thought. "Those old fogeys outside have made me too afraid to even go out, so now is the perfect time to avoid them."
As Su Chen pondered briefly, a wisp of Red Gold flame appeared right before his eyes. It was only as thick as a thumb. He tentatively reached out and grasped it, and the flame instantly merged into his body.
[Crimson Flame: Can significantly reduce the difficulty of the profession requirements for Fire Element Main Professions, special professions, and Holy Professions.]
Looking at the prompt on the interface, Su Chen couldn’t help but be amazed. "There’s actually such a thing?"
"Reducing the difficulty for specific professions..." Su Chen mused. "Since there are things that weaken Fire Element-related requirements, there inevitably have to be others that weaken different types. Just how powerful are those Professionals who have truly been nurtured with massive amounts of resources? How many Holy Professions could they have accumulated?
"No, I’m thinking about this wrong," he corrected himself upon further thought. "Other people have no way to integrate unassumed professions into a Holy Profession ahead of time. They can only take them on one by one. This thing can, at best, boost a single profession for them.
"But for me, it can directly act upon a Holy Profession."
Su Chen was quite satisfied. Not bad at all. As it happened, he had also accumulated just about enough essence on hand. He would go back and carefully prepare for a Fire Element-related Holy Profession.
"If I could obtain another portion of Perfect-Level Deceitful God Source Power and pair it with this thing, perhaps acquiring a Holy Profession would become virtually effortless," Su Chen thought to himself.
Just as he was calculating his plans, he unexpectedly heard the voice of the Spirit of Sun once more: "The Taixuan family has offered sacrifices for ten thousand years. Spare... Taixuan Tianyi’s life."
"Huh?" Su Chen was surprised. "There really is some sentimental attachment here. But what does their ten thousand years of sacrifices have to do with me?"
As for Taixuan Tianyi, he genuinely hadn’t decided whether to kill him or not. After being defeated, the man naturally lost all possibility of becoming a Chosen One, nor did he have the qualifications to remain here any longer. He had originally wanted to ask him a few questions. If the guy cooperated, he didn’t mind sparing his life.
However, if the Spirit of Sun was personally speaking up for him...
He thought for a moment before probing, "Then... give me another Morning Star Tier item."
As his voice faded, Su Chen could clearly feel the deep flame in the center shudder violently. Even the flow of air within the hall grew noticeably faster.
But in the very next moment, with a loud CLANG, the flame actually spat out an item. It was a string of five silver-gray metal spheres, their surfaces severely corroded and pitted.
This was the Five-Skandha Mala, a weapon belonging to a Morning Star of the Star Dome Sect—Venerable Gongzhi.
